I think I’d be cool with MBT has a backup. You can say what you want about his quirks but he can throw a football and has won some games and seems to genuinely enjoy when he plays here in front of a sold out crowd.

The Back up QB in 2025 will be Terry Wilson and Dolegala with Streveler coming in late in the year.

Cody does not fit our team culture. If we're going older guy as a back up, I say Masoli.

That would be a great fit. And the mafia were hard after Masoli a couple times prior to zach.

In regards to Masoli.   I'd rather not have a guy who is one light hit away from ending his career.       I don't think that they will be bringing in any other veteran QB's next season.

Given the absolute **** attitude he's shown why do you want him as a backup? Poor skills and a poor attitude... thats a no from me.

I can assure you that Kyle Walters won't be asking you or Noeller your opinions as he doesn't care what you guys think. The poor skills & poor attitude qb beat the historic FIFO culture here for the Grey Cup. As did a shitty backup QB nearly a month ago who will never be good enough start anywhere long term in the CFL.

Kinda where we been with ZC  too tho....been lucky especially in the first 2 yrs that he didnt get rocked as he prob been finished...he's a had a few pretty insignificant ones the last couple yrs  that seemed to really mess him up where another QB prob just shrugged t off....since he got hurt in dm he hasnt been anywhere near the same he was from 2019 to late 2022

yup...like i mentioned in a previous post...some this FIFO crap and adding guys to fit what HC/Management wanna see has hindered us as much as benefitted.

If you have a strong locke room and by all accounts we do...with enough true leaders and guys who are respected....any guy brought in will fall in line, be it the room and vets pointing him the right way and they actually see the benefits of the right aattidue....or they will be gone...we need more nasty...edgy and guys who play at the edge but know enough to rarely step over....thats where we lacking...to many nice gys and too many guys too comfortable.....Like they say...Nice guys finish last.....and in our case Nice guys cant finish the deal....as the true translation of it is People who are decent, friendly, and agreeable tend to be unsuccessful because they are outmaneuvered or overwhelmed by others who are not so decent

Pretty much us in a nutshell of late in last 3 cup losses

I don’t think he’s particularly fragile. He played the whole back half of last year plus play offs. I’d say he’s in the same boat as any other seasoned vet qb including zach.

I do agree, not a great likelihood that this happens.

Walters won't be asking you either.

I think Collaros is (and has been for years) is closer to that scenario than Masoli is.

Masoli got the utter cheap shot to take him out initially....then a fluke bad luck injury.....as a number 2 to hold you over if your starter goes down for a few games...surrounded with a good cast will win you more than you lose....and you keep developing Wilson as the Jumbo package guy, and if smart give him other plays/packages to run throughout the yr to further bring him along

Masoli has played 17 games in the last 3 seasons compared to Zach playing nearly 60 games.        Masoli is glass at this point.

I'll take MBT who can at least take a sack and get up and continue playing.

Masoli's joints are failing him.  If he wants to be more of a 3rd QB/QB coach I'd consider it.  But you need another guy who can reasonably play if you bring him in.  Ottawa was a good spot for him with Crum too.

Personally I'd be interested in Stevens from Calgary to be a run weapon.  And then decide if Wilson is worth developing further.  They don't really have to decide that until training camp, and if they want to keep 4 QB's around, use the injured list to do it.  I'd keep someone like Dolegala as our actual backup passing QB.

he's had 2 reconstructive surgeries...again...One from a blatant cheap shot intent to take him out....the other a non contact....hence the minimal games....sure he was hurt. but not like he was getting hurt every other game

ZC was and prob is more glass than anyone....and the last couple yrs he been getting smacked around a bit...and his performance has shown

And to be honest I'd take MBT over both of them right now to actually be my starter for 2025...With a running game like we have....and if we have our full compliment of receivers....I bet he's lead the league in passing

He's played a substantial amount in 3 games since his knee injury and in one of those games he tore his achilles....so yeah, every other game.

IF we brought in a guy like MBT what happens to Streveler.....Is he now just relegated to 3rd string behind Wilson and Dolegala......I have to agree that MBT is a guy who can sling the ball but he's kind of a 'off the wall' sort AND would he fit fifo

Streveler is a free agent with 2 torn knee ligaments.

So if he's so good why did Montreal toss him aside? After all, he won then a grey cup... maybe it's time to stop pretending faj is anything more than a guy that people settle for when they don't have better options.

It looks like Masoli has lost his mojo since he came back the second time and that's bad for a QB that seemed to rely on it a lot to elevate his game.  Not convinced he could win even half his games if called upon.

Strev. is no longer under contract, I guess he can go back to playing in the NFL because he's been there before and apparently he's an NFL caliber QB if only given a fair chance!

Someone will sign him as a backup.

True.....and I get that MBT would look good throwing to our talented receiving corps....but it's the fifo thing and Mike O's loyalties

The Argos were on their way to the GC in 2022 well before Kelly showed up.

No they weren’t

I like Masoli a lot... Always have. I'd take him as a veteran back up before most of the other names bandied about. But I still think it'll be Wilson and Strev next year... And a project to fill in until Strev is ready.

Not to denigrate MBT, but this FIFO stuff has run its course, in my opinion. My son teaches business administration and one of the case studies the class did was to look at the decline of General Motors from the biggest, most dominant auto manufacturer in the world to an also-ran. It came down to group-think and a rigid commitment to management enforcing a culture where different thinking meant a "lateral promotion". If a culture like FIFO in the Bombers means passing over players because they do not fit the norm, then a lot of talent will be lost. Monocultures do not endure or succeed for long.
