Sterns made it cuz none of the rookies stepped up. A week ago it was mentioned that Zach liked sterns and at that moment you knew if all things were equal, and they kinda were receiver wise, they’d keep the guys Zach likes. Sterns has cfl experience and the guys they kept all do, he was a free agent signing. I mean when Myron Mitchell is the pre season standout, not good

I guess if the biggest issue is the punter then it’s just whatever from me.

the other guys who stood out all made the team or PR. And who knows if a couple turned down the PR also.

Yep. Some people here do not consider that.

All pissing and moaning aside.... I still think we have a really good team that could easily be the top team in the west, if health stays on our side for a change.

I don’t really see pissing and moaning. It’s more like unsurprised yet still disappointed.

Im more encouraged by zachs play and hogans play call than any thing. Also very optimistic about some front 6 improvements, and ni depth. The youth and athleticism of our depth on D is really impressive too.
JYs next step and progression as a dc is another big point of optimism.

The roster will start out sub par and likely improve as young guys earn more reps and old old guys miss time. Kyrie staying healthy has never been a thing before.

Bailey for sure would be on the AR. We need 2 globals in the lineup. I beieve Weitz was hurt.

We're allowed 2 global players on the AR. We don't NEED 2 global players on the AR.

Did any of the free agent signings get cut?

Winnipeg should be a preferred destination for free agents because there is that bias of keeping vets over rookies.

Scouts don't recruit free agents..not their role

Yup...correct...and we better roster 2 since punter guy made team...Bailey needs to be on

I'm guessing they are planning to use Devin Adams similarly to last year where he can line up inside and outside. Otherwise they have only 2 DE on the roster right now. It would seem that there is an open spot for Munier-Bailey so I'll be really surprised if he's not on the week 1 roster.

Very likey yeah. Also woods played edge in the 30.
I’d think we see Wj Lawson woods vaughters start with Jake adams Bailey and schmek on the bench. Adam’s taking heavy reps at dt and de, Jake splitting more than he should with Lawson and schmek playing fairly few reps.
Maybe we di Ayers and da kyrie. Then di vaval to kr and db.
Offence is gonna be thin for imp talent.

If you could get Rysen John to play a heavy, inside spot maybe.  He’s been useless as a pro.

Yeah, He probably fits our system better, and as good as he could ever want as a pro. If he has any thing to give as a pass catcher we would get it here. And as an emergency contingency guy, I don't think he'd be worse than corcoran or cobb. Cobb has some versatility but he has fought his hands pretty hard at times.

Our entire defense aside from Jefferson Gauthier and Thomas has turned over since 2022.

Kickers, receivers.

Not sure the emotional reaction to cut down day is warranted.  But I guess football is too boring.

I'm not seeing a lot to bash either. People are complaining about the lack of roster turnover without actually acknowledging that we have had a lot of roster turnover in the past couple of years. Always lots of emotion on cut down day tho, as guys that we have grown attached to from our own internal hype get let go and then we find out we were mostly wrong about them as they never make another team either.

Bailey would make more sense than Weitz IMO, if we choose to roster the 2nd global. At least he would get some reps at DE. However, it comes at the cost of a Canadian and I'm not sure where we'd trim. 3 Canadian LB's, 1 receiver drafted and Peterson acquired in trade all added to the roster for 2025. That said, that's a lot of Canadian LB's.

Until they sort out the import LB's ( 4 counting Griffin ), I'm not sure what we're doing exactly.

Our DE's in 2024 were not good except for Jefferson. Adding Vaughters is great but depth? Yikes.

Pretty sure that Munier-Bailey will be on our roster sooner rather than later.

First, I'll say I don't see a lot to bash in this set of cuts either. The NI wr depth is a side effect of us trying to draft just teams guys for a couple years. But you are basically always in a situation of needing to restock NI depth at at least one position in the CFL.

That said, If you look at the argos of the dinwiddie time or the stamps previous dynasty, both teams would've had the last 3 years of roster turn over in vets in one year, and then some. Guys like kyrie and thomas would've been gone long ago. We aren't stuck on a lot of old vets any more. It's just a couple under achievers that get penned in now.

I also don't see considerable discourse. Last year was much more controversial. And the year before that. I see people discussing the cuts and questioning some moves, which is the point here yeah?

The current roster isn't a sign of much imo. A lot is going to change before week 1, and yeah Bailey will be the 2nd global by then if not fairly shortly after imo. He was banged up to start camp and is a little be further behind, though he did show well in the 2nd game. They may even keep weitz on just because of his familiarity with the teams system. We have a good bit of turn over in the depth of special teams. They might want a bit of extra continuity for now.

Don't get me wrong, I'm disappointed in a couple moves as well but overall I like it. I don't think we needed to re-invent the wheel with our roster. The biggest changes we made this offseason will pay off once Logan gets healthy and Hogan gets his feet under him. We had a darn good team last year, and appears we will have one again, Our biggest flaws are mostly addressed and imo this is the best looking PR we've had break camp in a while. I get that Thomas and Wilson appear to be weird keeps this year, but at the same time if their play time is reduced I see no problem with keeping either around.

Yeah, Logan and Hogan will take us far imo. I think we over achieved a good bit in the 2nd half of last year, carried heavily by the play of our secondary. I think our overall level of play will be similar but with a higher floor and potential to be better moving forward. Zach seems healthy and sharp, which is a pleasant surprise. I was ready for the worst case scenario with him.

I think our primary limiting factor early on is going to be our OL and how it gels. Plus how often it changes between now and LDC. I'm not looking too hard at the AR or the PR right now as It's gonna change a good bit still for game 1. But it is the best combination we've broken camp with in out of the last 3 ish years.

I'm overall optimistic, while still not expecting ideal ARs in the first few weeks of the year. There is a mild to moderate chance we do some thing wild like roster all the Lbers, and roll into game 1 with 10 guys and 4 imports for 2 spots. but we will see.

Correct me if im wrong but I thought he looked decent in the pre-season game in Sask.

Nothing terribly surprising about who made the final roster, IMO... K Wilson is a guy I wish we had moved on from but he was making the roster the second we was extended... same with Jake... I would assume Munier-Bailey would offer much more to the game day roster than any of Jake, Schmek, or Kornellson... so hopefully we see at least one change there... I'm also concerned about losing someone like J Jones or Ayers or Woodbey at the expense of T Jones or Wilson.... I don't know much about Woodbey but I'd rather roll the dice on him than watch Wilson get hurt again...

Its a no brainer for me that he would be on the roster.  We struggled with a lack of depth on the Dline all of last year and as a global he's basically bonus depth in that area.

Yeah. the difference between having  schmek, as the 3rd canadian Dt and 5th DT over all vs having a 2nd DE is huge. Schmek can do some heavy set stuff, but bailey has some value for teams as well.

This. Happy is wasn't at the expense of Ayers and JJones.
