Really easy to always say that there's some mystical coach out there that would be a better fit.  We've been through generations as CFL fans watching teams including our own who keep believing that.

Fair but if he ain’t hurt now let’s use him to his full potential just like every other player on the team we probably should try to do as strategic as possible. Keep em guessing on both sides of the ball.

Told you he was 100 percent coming back...and have no doubt he will be ready right out of the gate

Now use as an actual QB who has the threat to run as a secondary thing...no more of the battering ram plays...sure include some designed runs but disguised and not every damn play

Good signing..

This might work.....without Buck

So are they going to use him as SY or #2 QB?  I believe Wilson had the biggest gain on SY last season against the Riders in the WF 48 yds. and handled the role well after Strev went down.  Can't recall Strev breaking a big run all season.

Yup

Use him as a qb and use him liberally if collaros is going to show his age.

Yeah...use him as the number 2..and like a QB...and get him involved often...

From 3DN article , made me laugh

The 30-year-old was especially effective during the team’s Grey Cup run in his second season with the club, rushing for 82 yards and a touchdown in the West Semi-Final against Calgary and throwing a touchdown pass in the championship game over Hamilton. During the ensuing celebration, he gained cult hero status in Winnipeg as he sported a fur coat and cowboy hat while consuming an inordinate amount of beer.

Streveler signing doesn't make a lot of sense to me in that we need to find a Dru Brown as potential qb replacement. Strev didn't show a lot last year and was even stopped on 3rd and short where previously it would have been a given.  He just takes playing time away from younger guys with potential

We need to spend money on the oline if anything as we seemed to have little confidence in them against Toronto or Montreal.

I think Streve was hurt early in the year and a lot more than he let on...Using him as a battering ram was most likely the cause of his downturn ....Used correctly he should regain his form as a bonafide qb....Bring in a potential with upside as the third stringer and forget the nonsense of a Masoli who has brittle pins ...There's a reason Ottawa and Ham moved on from the guy

Streveler came in as a qb and had his initial success as a qb. Somewhere along the way coaches decided he was a runner and that's it.

Let him play the position with a full playbook and he either succeeds or he doesn't same as any other player.

I feel like Wilson has high upside... Like grooming him as the 3, and let Strev be a proper vet back up...

Proper bring the key word here.

Curious, in your wildest dreams which QB do you see Strev resembling once he's fully realized his potential?

Streveler runs an option package well, not a QB sneak or wedge.

This is his value as a pro player.  He's a specialist, he can play a role, and he can step in to win a game or two.  He's not a guy who can live in the pocket either.

Have to hope he's physically intact and has some durability left to play that role.

Need a QB who can run a full CFL passing offense around too just in case there's a longer-term need.

Well here’s hoping our new OC using Streveler as a QB instead of as a glorified RB. Our O actually got better once Streveler got injured and it was to no fault of his own, defenses truly just knew actually what was coming every single time the ball was in Strevelers hand.

I don't know if there's a comparable that springs to mind. I just see him as a guy who can be a true dual threat if he's allowed to be.

You use him as a fullback though you aren't helping anything.

Yup...when they realized his running ability and escape ability they abused it to the extent his running became predictable and irrelevant

Let him go back to a QB who can run to escape pressure if need be...my opinion is a good signing...1 yr deal..to.show he cam be a qb..and is only 30...so conceivably has 5..6..yrs ahead of him. People who say he can't throw based on what we did with him are mislead...

Buck didn't know what to do with a lot of his players skill sets..that was one his faults.. and had a hard time adjusting on fly outside his game plans if they didn't work

That's why I like Jackson here and hope to hell he has a lot more say in the playbook creation and game day quality control...he knows how to utilize certain skill sets to get most out of them

Go watch his college games...he's fine in pocket..as he was in his brief nfl snippets

The thing is if you let him play as a pass first QB with that running threat if things break down or DE' s don't respect contain..defences will have to.play pass and still be wary of him taking off...especially if we use sprint outs...slide protections to switch up launch points...how we used him last yr..was pointless and teams just crashed down with ears pinned back...

Our coaching hooped and hamstrung us in varying aspects..hopefully they have learned

Actually, it's about a $170,000 question.

Problem is even when he intends to throw, half the time he's quick to tuck the ball in and take off.  Not sure he ever gets beyond his first read.

Well, don't hope too much. Buck was a mentor to Hogan. He coached in that offense for years under Buck. Anyone who thinks he'll be vastly different should think again.

Is that what he signed for?
