CFL - 2024 Regular Season - Discussion Thread

the stamps 2 victories were meaningless   ... I  still think they fight with the Riders for the basement

toronto has enough talent to still win without a QB: special teams + decent D

People seem to forget the 2019 version of Streveler. He played qb then. And did just fine.

You can argue that he hasnt progressed, and that might be true, but it's just as true that he hasn't been given an opportunity to either. It's a chicken and egg scenario imo.

I dont want to write him off, but age is becoming a factor now.

I want Strev back, and the legit opp to play QB.....Dude can.....much to what lots here seem to think otherwise

He was brought in initially on the strength or his passing resume.... ifnhe was useless as a passer the NFL would have brought him in as a receiver or something NOT as a qb.

7 TD's 11 INT's while averaging less than 200 passing in the 7 games he started is far from just fine. Its putrid. You'll never convince me that he can be a serviceable starting QB in the CFL. Ill believe when i see it(and i highly doubt i ever will).

Yup, young QBs make mistakes. Qbs when given opportunities to develop....do.

he was a raw rookie....with basically 2 yrs of legit starting QB play in college.....as a rookie....he has 6 yrs under his belt now with experience...training and learning from some great QB's....allowed to play....and this is key here...and actual QB.....any assessment or prediction is unrealistic at best....he showed great flashes here before...spent 3 yrs in NFL and did some real good stuff....as he was allowed to...again this is key here...Play as an actual QB....

We get our hands back on him and instantly neuter and stagnate him........Plus he is a winner....has heart....and is a leader....and a guy who can if given the chance put a team on his back and do whatever he has to in order to win....I'd be giving him a chance next yr...a rral chance not this gimmick bullshit

Clearly they should hire both guys from the Stamps.

He's no longer a raw rookie and has little to show for the 4 years he wasted waiting for an opportunity in the NFL.  Believe it or not he's fallen a half mile behind Cody Fajardo's progress in developing from a short yardage QB with no hope into a starter, and is unlikely to ever make that progression.  If he had stayed healthy this season and Zach had not, how comfortable would the mafia be riding him into the playoffs against the Riders, Als or the Argos?  I think they would choose to start Dolegala in that situation, not going to beat any of those teams grinding out 17 points.

Are you seriously comparing Strevy's development to a guy with 3 times the experience/play time?  Fajardo was already in the CFL before Strevy even made the switch to full-time QB in college so yeah he should be ahead of him in progression.

Fajardo: 45 games in college & 124 games (73 as a starter) in the CFL.

Strevy: 23 games (as a QB) in college & 54 games (12 as a starter) in the CFL & NFL.

I only want to add, that, one of the most memorable touchdown passes ive seen live in my life, and most important, was Strevelers 2nd quarter touchdown pass to Harris. It was at that moment I started to believe we had it in the bag, and we came to win that day.

**** I wish I could relive that evening.

Huh, could have swore we won the Labour Day game this season. Well s**t, guess i misremembered.

Also the riders secondary isn't what i would call dangerous... grabbing a few into while also giving up a **** ton of passing yards is not really something to crow about.

Yet more trash analysis of the league. Cfl needs.to get out of it's own way sometimes.

Like I said, Strev. is half a mile behind Fajardo in terms of development and will never be given the playing time needed to catch up. If the Bombers want to stay competitive after Zach is gone, they won't have the luxury of investing multiple seasons in "Project Streveler" only to realize he'll never approach Zach's level of competent play.

It's not so much the physical ability to throw the ball or run, Dru Brown showed more ability with less playing time because he has the quicker QB mindset which gives him the ability to see and read the field quickly.

Wow, that's pretty bad that they can't even get that right... it's pretty easy to check the scores of the game, and knowing that the Labour Day game was in the middle of our 9 game winning streak makes an error like that in an article very questionable.

Christ go compare Dru Browns first game and Chris Strevelers first game and tell me how much quicker Brown developed.

Again it comes down to the coaches made streveler into a gimmick in his 2nd season and doubled down on it this year. Dude can play qb.

Yah, and where are they now?  You think the Bombers should go all in on Strev. as Zach's future replacement?  How are they going to do that and what is it going to look like?

One guy got to play qb the other got to play glorified full back... sign streveler as the backup next year and let him play the position. He will do fine. He did more than collaros early in the year anyway. Dragged the team to OT after collaros went out vs. Calgary and picked up a win in his only start.

Dru has the best improvement arc of any qb I’ve seen

i think it’s a 3 horse race with ringmaiden, Ted, and most likely Ed. Most of that list is really funny or sad.

I think Hervey and McManus because Morris played with them, and Simon because he's already there.

People should watch the press conference introducing Morris.  They are full on going old boys club "Eskimo Way" under him and the new owner.

I'd say really Hervey probably already has the job.

I do not think Mac wants any part of that. His current job is a dream role for him. Harvey is a huge front runner imo. Simon yeah I could see taking off the interim tag.

I don’t see Simon getting it, too closely associated with Jones, looking for a fresh start but hey who knows.

Yeah idk, I could see Simon and Jackson getting a chance. No jones all year and the elk make the play offs imo
