World Politics

I wasn't sure where this Israel, Iran and China debacle should go, so I thought I would start a new thread and post it here:

Interesting article disusing Israel's actions in trying to destabilize Iran and how it monumentally backfired and brought China into the Middle East... it's kind of crazy

"To the extent that Netanyahu played a role here, his plot has backfired monumentally. If the China deal goes through, Iran is much strengthened and its hard liners are entirely unleashed. The positioning of Chinese security forces in Iran will make it increasingly risky for other countries such as Israel or the US to strike Iran, lest they come into conflict with nuclear-armed China."

ugh, the day that Putin leaves office for good will be the best progress for World Peace since the damn wall fell (or since Trump was forced out of office you think of something more recent), I want to believe that this is going to end up being his Waterloo.

Russian police detained at least 389 people at anti-war protests that took place in 39 Russian cities in the wake of Thursday's early-morning attack on Ukraine, the OVD-Info protest monitor said.

The OVD-Info monitor has documented crackdowns on Russia's opposition for years.

This is what oppression looks like.

"Well, we don’t rely on American banks. We have all the funding we need out of Russia."

2014.

Trump's are big money launderers. That's how they get their loans.

Biden can impose all the sanctions he can get the rest of the world to go along with but in the end Ukraine will fall and a pro Russian government will be installed. What Putin does after this is what has everyone scarred.

"Russian paratroopers have been sent to Kazakhstan at the request of its president to help "stabilise" the country.

They were sent under the authority of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) - a group of countries comprising Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia, which was set up after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

It's thought 2,500 soldiers have been deployed, from across the CSTO's member states but mostly from Russia."

hard to remember this stuff,  Putin was initially elected.

"Some others, including David Satter, Yury Felshtinsky, Vladimir Pribylovsky and Alexander Litvinenko, as well as the secessionist Chechen authorities, claimed that the 1999 bombings were a false flag attack coordinated by the FSB in order to win public support for a new full-scale war in Chechnya, which boosted the popularity of Prime Minister and former FSB Director Vladimir Putin, brought the pro-war Unity Party to the State Duma in the 1999 parliamentary election, and secured Putin as president within a few months"

The fate of Ukraine is likely to be decided  tomorrow. Russians seized the airport near Kyiyv earlier today, but where out or captured by Ukrainian forces. The Russian plan is to retake the airport at all costs so they can bring in their massive troop transport airpanes to take the Ukrainian capital, as they believe this will collapse all resistance.

It is totally not lost on me that the start of CPAC and the invasion began on the same day.

BBC is reprting that Russian soldiers have been given a list of Ukrainian leaders to be captured or killed.

Biden is a no show on Putin right now, as far as I can tell he is part of the Russian bootlicking problem.

Putin won't stop until he is stopped. How many countries have to fall before that happens will depend on when the world finally decides to treat him like the power mad dictator that he is.

Why is Poland and Lithuania a bigger problem than Ukraine? Any invasion, including this current one, is a massive world problem. This is a country being invaded for the simple reason that they wanted to join the EU and NATO. The G7's and NATO allies response to this so far is absolutely sickening and cowardly.

Russia has a huge nuclear arsenal. What's the alternative. Nuclear war & billions of casualties? If this wasn't an issue, it would become a conventional war.

Ukraine is not a NATO country.

And that's been the problem. Denied NATO - Crimea gone. Denied NATO - more Ukraine gone.

NATO countries get a ship load of blame from me.

so, 2 things stand out to me here regarding foreign threats from unpopular countries that could threaten our sovereignty as a nation.

1. To not have a national strategic energy policy where Canada is totally oil independent in the event of a major international incident where the supply chain is cut off is absolutely insane.

2.  Our military is like the Ukraine. It is underfunded, outmatched on land, sea & air. Totally incapable of even trying to defend our borders. We'd rely on others to help defend us but like the Ukraine, what if they don't come?

It's time Canadians & our political leaders woke up & realized we need to take care of ourselves first. Our so called friends may not be our friends after allnin the future.

They are going to tell us not to believe what our eyes see but to believe what they say, just like the Mango Mussolini did when he was President, they are full of **** and are going to cause death and a humanitarian crisis as Ukrainians are fleeing in the millions

NEW YORK (AP) — Filmmaker and actor Sean Penn is in Ukraine to continue work on a documentary about the ongoing Russian assault.

The Office of the President wrote in a Facebook post Thursday that Penn attended press briefings, met with Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk and spoke to journalists and military personnel about the Russian invasion.

“Sean Penn demonstrates the courage that many others, especially western politicians lack,” the president’s office wrote on Facebook. “The director specially came to Kiev to record all the events that are currently happening in Ukraine and to tell the world the truth about Russia’s invasion of our country.”

He was also there in late November to work on the project, which is being produced by VICE Studios. Photographs at the time showed him visiting the frontlines of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near the Donetsk region.

The Oscar-winner has been involved in numerous international humanitarian and anti-war efforts over the years and founded the non-profit disaster relief organization CORE in response to the 2010 earthquakes in Haiti, chronicled in the documentary “Citizen Penn.”

How effed up is this video???  Either the tank driver is a psychopath or he thinks running over civilians is part of a fun video game..
