Ukraine will fall and Russia will set up a pro Russian government, meanwhile millions are fleeing and thousands will die in a war that nobody not even the Russian people want. This is a war wanted by a crazy dictator who is living in a fantasy world of the past. The bigger problem is what happens if he decides that he wants parts of Poland and Lithuania

Why are so many Republican politicians and tv hosts licking Putin boots, Democrats have to start asking those questions but they might not like what they find out.

Biden is a no show on Putin right now, as far as I can tell he is part of the Russian bootlicking problem.

Putin won't stop until he is stopped. How many countries have to fall before that happens will depend on when the world finally decides to treat him like the power mad dictator that he is.

Why is Poland and Lithuania a bigger problem than Ukraine? Any invasion, including this current one, is a massive world problem. This is a country being invaded for the simple reason that they wanted to join the EU and NATO. The G7's and NATO allies response to this so far is absolutely sickening and cowardly.

What exactly do you expect the US to do right now?

I expect them and the rest of NATO to do like they have all over the middle East when it was in turmoil, and provide military support to Ukraine. Not troops, or a declaration of war, per se but NATO should be shipping all weapon tech, munitions, training support etc just like they did against Iraq, Iran, Syria etc.

An apples to apples comparison that doesn't make sense.

Russia is a military superpower that just invaded a sovereign nation. Sanctions are a first step to try and deescalate the situation. Escalating it will only lead to more loss of life and destruction.

Escalating it? To what exactly. It's war and it's time people wake up and see that. Putin has escalated this and will continue to do so. Nip it in the bud now or he will have his iron curtain back before we grow the onions to do something about it. Sanctions are a good first step, but the time for military support is now....right now. Putin does not care. He is Nero fiddling on the roof. This is his last chance to realize his dream of regaining the USSR and he won't stop.

Well aware of Kaliningrad. Just don't see it as a bigger problem than what Russia is doing right now. Invasion is invasion and no free passes should be handed out to this nut bar.

You say that Putin is a nut bar and I agree he is, he also warned the West not to get involved because he has nukes. now if the rest of the world decides to send military to Ukraine does a crazy power hungry with no tether lunatic press the button

Ukraine is not a NATO country. Russia is a nuclear capable country and you want to go and fight them? FFS.

Appropriate and decisive sanctions would work. But, no one in Europe had the courage to do it. US doesn't either.

It's more nuanced than you're framing it, though.

And it's not just Biden's decision, anyway. There are allies within NATO and representatives in the EU and G7 with whom the US has to collaborate in order to respond. A measured approach is how you prevent this conflict from getting worse; going in guns blazing does the opposite. And the latter is exactly what Putin wants.

Sure that is what Putin wants, and that is a very serious miscalculation on his part. As for NATO, let's not pretend the USA doesn't wear the pants there.

I don't want NATO to fight, I want them to supply the fight.

Theoretically, I doubt he does. He's crazy but he's also smart enough to know that they would be nuked back to the stone age as well. If we were to invade Russia maybe he would, but he would not risk losing all of Russia over the Ukraine.

The Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation, and Partnership between Ukraine and the Russian Federation was an agreement between Ukraine and Russia, signed in 1997, which fixed the principle of strategic partnership, the recognition of the inviolability of existing borders, and respect for territorial integrity.
Just "A piece of paper"
After all, "The Russians are merely going into their own backyard"
Sound familiar?

https://www.axios.com/ukraine-zelensky-chernobyl-nuclear-power-plant-2f549a11-6bc3-466c-bf30-23fafb41b3a3.html

Quote

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Thursday that Russian forces are attempting to seize control of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.

Driving the news: "Our defenders are giving their lives so that the tragedy of 1986 will not be repeated ... This is a declaration of war against the whole of Europe," Zelensky wrote in a tweet.

  • The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in a tweet also warned that a Russian attack on Ukraine "may cause another ecological disaster."
  • "In 1986, the world saw the biggest technological disaster in Chernobyl ... If Russia continues the war, Chernobyl can happen again in 2022," the ministry wrote.

The big picture: The Chernobyl power plant was the site of the world’s worst nuclear accident when a nuclear reactor exploded in 1986, sending radioactive contamination across Europe, AP notes.

  • The plant is 80 miles north of Ukraine's capital of Kyiv.

Thought bubble from Axios' Andrew Freedman: The reports of fighting at Chernobyl are concerning since the lands surrounding the power plant have high levels of radiation, and are known as the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone.

  • In addition, munitions — gunfire, artillery shells, missiles, hitting the facility itself could release radioactivity and threaten citizens of nearby EU countries. However, Russian soldiers are likely aware of the dangers, and their aim may be to secure the area in order to move troops more directly to Kyiv.

This **** is ******.

Thinking about this for a few minutes....

this is a real test for how deeply corrupted the world financial system is.

If for instance, the British cant bring themselves to actually deal with the Russian money invested in London.... we will know just how bad it is.

Have read the British Conservative party gets a lot of money from Russia.

we already know about American Russian money laundering.

Ukrainian leaderis pleading for real sanctions.

Hunter Biden took more money from Russia than the 2 million donated to the British Conservative party. This is deeply concerning that politicos of ALL stripes seem to be in Russia's pocket.

Trump blocked support for Ukraine, holding funds hostage until they made up stuff against his political opponents. He was impeached for it. His second impeachment.
