No chance of a CFL season until the borders are re-opened and the social distancing rules eliminated.

No borders = No Imports. Social Distancing = No fans in the stands.

Two years ago, negative nellies were forecasting the end of the CFL with the AAF & XFL coming onboard. Well, they're both gone now but the CFL still faces a huge challenge as do all established sports leagues of getting thru these scary & dangerous time.

Never mind two years ago... remember two months ago when the xfl signed Derek Dennis and SJ green and a few alarmist were warning us about the “surge of cfl talent” headed south... 😆

They could just play the games in Toronto.  Not much difference that a normal game's attendance.

Ah. Vince has been to the Donald Trump School Of Business. Whoever was dumb enough to invest in the league or hold debts deserve what they got.

more importantly..this will be the last venture by Vince and any of his holdings trying to resurrect a league....again...and most likely any other attempt

Vince was sole owner but I’m sure he was invoiced for many things as any business would be.

It’s an interesting thing.  The first XFL Shut down when it threatened to impact wwe.  And now I’m guessing this has a lot to do with wwe needing Vince’s attention.

So if I remember correctly Vince repeatedly swore wwe had nothing to do with the xfl.  Now it turns out they were significant owners.

What a huge mistake this thing turned out to be....No one in their right mind would take on this disaster....Someone is going to take a bath a long with the idiot that had the concept for this venture...Lots of ex-CFL guys looking north and wondering ,what the hell happened...For anyone trying this again, a lesson has been learned .........................I think???

I still think there should be an 'all-Canadian' option for this season - border is going to be closed for a while.

Wow.  With Vince not paying out coaches money they are owed i view it as the XFL is never coming back. Last time around he at least paid everyone for the full first season to leave the door open for a return at some point.

It’s pretty awful considering Vince’s net worth. And that wwe owns 23% of the league.  To not pay people is ridiculous.   I believe it’s $4 million.  Pocket change to Vince.

Nah, give it a few years & some rich yahoo will try again.  It just never ends.

Speaking of TSN..

TSN is showing an NHL game tonight so I tuned in to see who’s playing on the off chance it might be an interesting game.

😠

That is funny.  Gotta blackout a game already played.

And there will be some here yet again predicting that this new league will kill the CFL.

That is so true.

And another one bites the dust. And with it a good generation of spring football leagues.

almost certain now that this will be the end of any new upstart for at least a decade...if not forever...and especially since Vince is not paying guys who were/are guaranteed money he will never dip his toe back into this again...and based on how the AAF foundered, can't see nobody doing it again truth be told

I don't know why the football league wannabees can't get it through their heads that fans like an off season. After the regular season, playoffs & Super Bowl with all the hype of that game & then to start over a week later with a third rate league, who gives a ****?

I was actually hopeful that the XFL would find it's niche and be a developmental type league for the CFL and NFL. Unfortunately, every spring incarnation is just terrible football and very hard to watch. In America, I don't think you can half ass it when it comes to pro sports. You either start up as a farm league for the big show or you get cratered.

Unlike the CFL, the 4 down game requires too much precision and doesn't allow for athleticism. There are a ton of fantastic athletes that just need some time to develop their pro game attention to detail but are NFL calibre athletes and that is how the CFL has thrived in it's recruitment. However, with the smaller field and different playing style and rules of 4 down football those same players just do not have the opportunity to shine and it just looks sloppy instead.
