US Politics

Lets see if we can keep this thread a little more civil.

I found this interview very interesting.  A lot of soft balls thrown at Trump, he explained his back pedalling on his more extreme issues as a lot of his claims as opening bids for negotiation purposes.  Which .. whatever .. I still think that those are insincere claims he used to get elected.

He does now come across way more presidential then he did prior to the election.  A lot of his noise, yelling, and rhetoric has been scaled back.

Do respect this one though:

Quote

Lesley Stahl: Are you gonna take the salary, the president’s salary?

Donald Trump: Well, I’ve never commented on this, but the answer is no. I think I have to by law take $1, so I’ll take $1 a year. But it’s a -- I don’t even know what it is.

Donald Trump: Do you know what the salary is?

Lesley Stahl: $400,000 you’re giving up.

Donald Trump: No, I’m not gonna take the salary. I’m not taking it.

No that part is just Trump bluster.  But the fact is if Hilary was president and got Chelsea involved, you'd be hearing a very different story from CNN and democrats.  And Repubs would be singing the same tune that Dems are now about Ivanka.  It's sad really.

Politics the world over is an embarrassment these days. No wonder it takes forever to accomplish something. It's a soap opera.

The part Trump doesnt understand is he has not earned any deference from the media.  So when he puts his unqualified children into positions of power and influence, he will be held accountable.  i seriously doubt Hilary would have advanced Chelsea to the level of senior adviser to the President based on the same qualifications Ivanka has.  (and I like Ivanka).

It's not a fact, it's an opinion. Regardless, Chelsea Clinton has a Masters degree from Oxford in International Relations. She slightly more qualified than Ivanka.

Well it's really more of a prediction of the potential events of an alternate timeline than an opinion.

Thats actually a good point.  I'd find it very difficult to believe that President Hilary would seat Chelsea at that table or give her a Senior Adviser gig.  Its more likely Chelsea would be sent to gain experience in another department.  She can give her mom all the advice she wants over the dinner table.

Its bothering some people because given all the other facts, its just a little too uncomfortable how Trump has elevated his family members in a way that many dictatorship nations do.

All negative news is fake news, when will you libtards realize this. Let's move past this.

And Chelsea Clinton's response:

Excerpt regarding a solar border wall with Mexico:

Quote

On the border wall:

Q You were joking about solar, right?

THE PRESIDENT: No, not joking, no. There is a chance that we can do a solar wall. We have major companies looking at that. Look, there’s no better place for solar than the Mexico border — the southern border. And there is a very good chance we can do a solar wall, which would actually look good. But there is a very good chance we could do a solar wall. One of the things with the wall is you need transparency. You have to be able to see through it. In other words, if you can’t see through that wall — so it could be a steel wall with openings, but you have to have openings because you have to see what’s on the other side of the wall. And I’ll give you an example. As horrible as it sounds, when they throw the large sacks of drugs over, and if you have people on the other side of the wall, you don’t see them — they hit you on the head with 60 pounds of stuff? It’s over. As crazy as that sounds, you need transparency through that wall. But we have some incredible designs. But we are seriously looking at a solar wall. And remember this, it’s a 2,000 mile border, but you don’t need 2,000 miles of wall because you have a lot of natural barriers. You have mountains. You have some rivers that are violent and vicious. You have some areas that are so far away that you don’t really have people crossing. So you don’t need that. But you’ll need anywhere from 700 to 900 miles. Plus we have some wall that’s already up that we’re already fixing. You know, we’ve already started the wall because we’re fixing large portions of wall right now. We’re taking wall that was good but it’s in very bad shape, and we’re making it new. We’re fixing it. It’s already started. So we’ve actually, in the true sense — you know, there’s no reason to take it down or ***. So in a true sense, we’ve already started the wall.

At this point, in trying to get any kind of a "win" the Republican "leadership"  Trump, Pence, O'Connell along with the ole Tea baggers like Rand Paul.....are pretty busy at work.

Belittling, threatening and attacking any reasonable, moderate, logical, and practical Republicans, who could be fiscally conservative and socially liberal.  In short, the people that could actual help the party create legislation that makes some form of sense.  As opposed to the crap sandwich of a repressive agenda, that is the current Republican party line.

Some Republicans used to understand the value and benefits of science, immigration, the environment, and education.

Unfortunately, any potential reasonable internal debate has been drowned out by cheap slogans and bellowing of alternative facts.  Meanwhile regulatory bodies, key Federal departments, and consumer protections are being gutted.  Healthcare and social services for millions of Americans also hangs in the balance.

I am old enough to remember a time when racists, gun nuts, religious cranks and extreme alt right types were the fringe, rather than the voice and agenda of the Republican Party.

The cherry on top, is having a President who is patently morally, intellectually, and temperamentally unfit to hold that office.

Sad.

Newsflash, the Dems are crazier....far crazier, and devoid of morals.   Don't believe me?  Americans voted for Trump instead!

The "News" or Lame Stream Media has always lied to us...............It's just now we have access to actual alternative viewpoints, and people willing to say the truth.   The internet has brought much lies itself, no doubt, but it also brought an avenue for truth.  You just have to sift.

It takes looking at 12 or more viewpoints to gain an ounce of real truth.

And the Clintons have never helped each other out right?   Hillary definitely would have risen as far as she did without Bill right? Right?

Or the Kennedy clan....right?    Or the Bush family?  right?

The list goes on and on.

sad but true... the kicker is that I feel like the internet has actually dumbed down the population, nobody thinks critically anymore.. they see something and automatically assume its the gods given truth.  Ive seen so many people make the dumbest stands on the dumbest points that are refuted so easily and yet they still refuse to acknowledge it as wrong simply because they read it somewhere..
