, but given the qualifying question of, "Is Matt Nichols elite?" We need to see  him do it multiple times in the play offs to say yes. Matt can do all he wants during the season, but as we saw with Calgary last year, it means nothing until you can bring home a championship.

Based on this criteria, was Stegall an elite receiver? Or did his career mean nothing?

188 NET yards for Hamilton. That is outstanding. When was the last time a Blue Bombers team held the opposition under 200 net yards of offense?

we hold teams under 200 yards of offense at least 50% of the time (if the time period in question is 1 quarter)

I wonder if he'd dump on Buono for the shoddy attendance numbers at BC Place if he were situated out in Vancouver.

The fact he uses the angry rants of his reader base really speaks to how much of a bitter turd he is. He basically has to resort to attacking O'Shea to frame his argument. It doesn't get more pathetic than that.

I've been flying to Vancouver for the bomber game the past 3 seasons. Upper deck is tarped off, lower bowl has been less than half full 2/3 years. It's a ghost town. The game last week was the most people I've seen at a Lions game I've gone to.

  4. I don't think the average fan gives a **** who the coordinators are. i'm sure there are lots of season ticket holders who couldn't name the coordinators. Fans care about winning. Firing lapolice isn't going to cause a few thousand fans to stay home. Maybe Tina and the kids.

I've never wanted Lapolice here, V1, V2 or V3, and I'm still with everyone else in that it's a ridiculous conversation at this point and would be a pointless change at this point of the season that likely causes more problems.

Three games in 11 days for the RedBlacks. What a crazy schedule. Player safety should be first priority although the Argos seemed to get the short end of the stick with injuries. Not surprised Ottawa lost.

Ottawa got a terrible schedule. Both bye weeks in the last 3 weeks (week 18, 20), 3 games in 11 games now. To me whichever team gets the 2 games in a week due to 9 teams should have a bye the following week.

Hey I was against Lapo from the get go, I really wanted Khari Jones, and looking at the BC offense it's pretty explosive. But they went with the "safe" choice which was Lapolice. Now we just hope someone decides they want to hire him as a head coach.

maybe we could start a gofundme to give TSN to hire him back as a signing bonus for taking him away from the team.

If you don't like Lapo then you should be criticizing MOS because MOS wanted him and appears to continue to want him.

I think that will be the downfall of MOS. There wasn't much on the market that year, he went with Lapo. Now that the team is decent he's unlikely to fire a coordinator, meaning the coordinators will go when MOS himself goes.

He's said in the past that Khari acted as a de facto OC for a long time and would make stuff up as the game went along. I maintain that's a lot easier to do when you have the type of weapons he did at that time...

When you have that type of receiver it's a nice plan to have. Throw to Stegall.

To a lesser degree look at some of the catches SJ green is making from Ray this year. Our receivers wouldn't catch some of those. I don't mean that as a knock on our receivers, but as recognition of how good a guy like Green is at coming down with the ball. We don't make a ton of catches in traffic.

I wish teenage me knew to enjoy the 2001 season more (other than the grey cup game.....)

People are quick to blame Lapo for the slow starts and finishes.  Maybe just maybe it is Nichols who should shoulder an equal or larger portion of the blame.  Could it be possible the he is choosing the option to pass short on 2nd and long?  Taking the shortest and safest passing option?  I think so.  We are talking about an average QB here with average at best arm strength and as already been posted here, the quarterback with the worst accuracy beyond 20 yards.

Nichols deserves his share of the blame and if it weren't for the turnovers by the defense that resulted in a TD and short fields I think it is safe to say Nichols would have struggled to lead the Bomber offense to more than 20 points.

how many QB's have we seen under Lapo over the years throw for 4 yards on second and long?  Not saying Nichols is perfect, but I've disliked the same things about the Lapolice offense in each of his stints here, regardless of personnel.

If I were you, and knowing Lulay's injury history and our ability to get to a QB, I'd be more worried about how well you think your #3 QB can play, because if Jennings isn't good to go, there's a very real chance that Ross might have to after the 2nd or 3rd sack.

I hope you're right. I'll be at the game with a Lions fan, we've got a beer per sack wager for the game.

That's a whole lot of energy going into debating the "proper" # selection. I'd be a whole lot more concerned at how my team looked against the Stampeders. Didn't see a whole lot of positives, outside of #23.  Drew used to wear #82, but apparently someone , inactive(don't quote me on that), has already laid claim to the digits. Here's to #80 lighting up those CFL defensive backfields...Especially the hated Rider one, and of course , Tranna's.

Just tell him to tell the team he's rethought things, and has his heart set on wearing 85, so if they could put him in 85 it would be great.

Don't do that. Stegall is a god

  12. When we're 2nd and long, if we do go 2 and out, I'd prefer to see us not convert on a play that would have been a first down, instead of punting on 3rd and medium after a 4 yard pass. I wish someone kept a stat on completed 2nd down passes that don't result in 1st down. I suspect we lead the league.

I thought it was very similar to last year,  player for half a game (in this case 2nd and 3rd quarter) and go (maybe a little too) conservative the other 2 quarters.  The biggest difference I saw last night was based on the Oline.  At times it looked like Nichols had enough time to have a drink, scratch his ass and high five Harris. On those plays he looked crisp with his throws and accurate. What happened to our Oline in the 4th quarter is beyond me.

we're always going to play too conservative. It's been the Lapolice way in every stint has it not. I commented in the chat yesterday in the third quarter it looked like MOS must have tied Lapo up and left him in the locker room because we actually threw the ball downfield. By the 4th quarter classic Lapolice was back unfortunately.

I could be biased because I've never liked his coaching style, but I believe our wins are in spite of our O-coordinator, not because of his playcalling.

  14. Wasn't the prettiest game, but glad we picked up the W. I picked up some cheap ($200 round trip) flights into Winnipeg for the Argo's game on the 13th, and I'll be headed to Vancouver for the following week for the game there. Will be rocking my Denmark jersey, bombers are 3-0 in games I've worn it to. Prior to that they were 0-x in my lifetime going to games (that's what I get for going to games primarily in Alberta)

**edit** correcting math.   Looks like you have a few too many wins 84 wins vs 76 losses. Easiest fix is change the riders to 0-18 :)

urRickey burned the Cat's real good....Let's see him duplicate that against a ball hawking club like ours....I'd say the percentage of completions drops off enormously ...Looking forward to that game IF the argos's  are chucking them up like that...heh heh.. I can see Leggett licking his chops already and a few of our other secondary people.

It's not like QB's had terrible completion percentages against us last year. Yes we had lots of picks, but man did we let QB's pick us apart on any play that wasn't a turnover. Hoping this year the D line can manage some pressure to help the secondary out. If they can't Ray could pick us apart.

  17. My only jersey was a Doug Brown, so at the end of the 2015 season decided to pick up a new one.

Went with Denmark thinking it's safe cause he's too good to be cut

After buying the jersey we sign Dressler and Smith, Denmark gets cut

So now I'm wondering if I should bother wearing it on my road trip to the Lions game

Then he signs with SK, jersey gets retired before being worn. Can't wear it if he's an active Rider

Cut by riders, signed with bombers. Got cheap flights to Winnipeg for the banjo bowl, wore Denmark jersey, disappointed by the amount of Dressler riders jerseys. Same way I wouldn't wear a bombers Denmark if he was playing in SK, riders shouldn't be wearing their dressler while he's a bomber (imo)

Wore it as well to the game in BC. Bombers are now 2-0 in games I wear my denmark jersey to. I think they were 0-everything for games I went to in the Brown jersey, mainly since the typical games I go to are in Calgary/Edmonton
