  1. As someone who is only in his early 30's, I have no real memories of the bombers being a dominant, or even consistently good team. Sure we had a brief glimpse of success in the days of Jones and Stegall.  Losing games and looking terrible on offense is just my expectation. So the good of this is I get over the losses pretty quickly, as they're expected. The bad being even if we win a couple games it will be hard to enjoy as I'll know the wheels are still going to fall off after another few games.

I didn't grow up watching or playing football, wasn't an option to play in a small town. In my teens the likes of Stegall and Brown got me interested and started watching. Then i hit my 20's. The bombers didn't win a labor day game in my 20's. Loss after loss after loss. Every year we bring in new players, every year people are optimistic for the new players. Every year regardless of what coaches/players/Gm we bring in, the team plays like the Bombers, which is a painful experience.

he must have more faith in a Lapo offense than some of us if he thinks he's going to be making shorter kicks than 45 yards.

that kick last night will cost him 1300. He's already donating more to charity than I do in a year, and he has 17 games left.

Doesn't Medlock have a history of missing games due to injury?  Castillo is a great insurance policy or a valuable asset should a starting kicker/punter go down with injury.

Either way I see him paying dividends.

    2009 - 17 games (1 game on PR, 17 started)

2010 - 4 games, cut in favor of prefontaine

    2011 - 18 games

    2012 - NFL

    2013 - NFL

    2014 - 18 games

    2015 - 18 games

Best I can tell he has missed 0 CFL games due to injury

Thanks for getting this up so quickly.  You're providing a service that the CFL should be providing on their website.

Wouldn't surprise me if they can't. With the amount of money TSN is paying to air the games, I'd expect something in their preventing the games being made available through any other means outside of TSN.

  5. I might start buying merch again this year. It has nothing to do with management. It's the first year in a few that I might be able to wear some of it. The bombers don't really sell fat guy sizing. Down 100lbs this CFL off season (technically 98.5 as of this morning, but i'm going with 100), I may be able to get into some bomber gear again. (the secret is bacon, i have spent 0 time in the gym)

The average fan maybe, but we have a very large number that are not average fans. Our ticket revenues were up last year and season tickets are sold out and are again this year at 80%. Merch sales went up as soon as Jones was announced as GM. So if the riders struggle this year and merchandise sales are high, what will you say then. Just bought a new jersey yesterday myself for mrs ripper. Couldn't go wrong with number 6.

So did you buy a new jersey because Taman is gone, because there are new jerseys, or because she can't wear her Dressler jersey to games anymore ;)

I would expect most teams merch revenue to be up this year with the new jerseys

The opposite. The Riders would have made 850k without the almost 5.2 million dollar payment to the heritage fund. Sounds like we owe another 5.1'ish million against this to pay for the 15 million in renovations for the 2013 grey cup. Merch was down. but not because we were losing, but fans sending message to fire Taman IMHO.

I'd be skeptical that the average fan cares too much about who the GM is. Every fan cares about winning/losing, the minority, such as the types who go on forums, care about other the behind the scenes stuff.  If merch is down significantly, I'd be surprised if that many people didn't buy merch because of who the GM is.

What because we were bored like they are usually?

Because you went and talked to each other instead of watching :) jab at the media, not you. You did better than I would have, I would have left if they weren't doing much.

I don't mind this tactic by Chris Jones.  They don't need St. John in the lineup right away, they have enough Canadian OL to easily start 3 with depth behind them.

Offering the league minimum is a **** move (and I'm not sure we're hearing the full story there) but I can understand the Riders holding out for a bargain.

In a league where after 3 years a guy can leave why sour the relationship early. No other league would a guy drafted first overall get a minimum offer.

Nfl had to adjust to the converts, why can't we adjust to the distance change. I'm not trying to start a battle but just something I've been pondering when the topic of rule changes come up every year.

Our field is 5 yards longer. With NFL goal posts currently 10 yards deeper than ours in the NFL you have to move the ball 5 yards further than in the CFL to have the same length kick (assuming you started on your own half of the field)

If we put the goalposts at the back of our end zone, to have the same length kick you now have to move the ball 15 yards further than in the NFL.

So if you start around your own 25, and figure you need a 45 yard kick to be in reasonable field goal range, you need to move the ball 47 yards.

With your proposal to get into field goal range you'd have to gain 67 yards of offense to get into field goal range. As well if your range is 45 yards you'd have to get to the 18 yard line before you'd kick a field goal. Do you really only want to see field goals attempted from inside the 20? I can't imagine why you'd want that change.
