I hate to admit it, but the Riders might be the hottest team in the league right now. Yes we have won 5 straight but the Riders have dominated against 2 western opponents. Labour Day is set up to be a hum dinger! We need to stay with the Riders in the first half. I think a key for us will be giving Matt time in the pocket.

 Our whole offense played great.
Our defense played okay against the best QB in the league, and if it wasnt for 1 long run (missed tackles), and a ball that goes off a helmet (caught for td), this game isn't close.

Boy, I have hated Edmonton my whole life. Those stupid rolls the defense does whenever they make a big play...i just hate that

Not sure if I am concerned about the Bombers tackling as a whole...it's the linebackers that concern me the most. When you don't hear your name called on the play by play it probably means you aren't making enough tackles. It's nice to have a Canadian at middle LB but our production there is poor at best.

I think the point of this recruitment frustration is that Calgary seems to get into injury trouble every year, and every year the guys they bring in as replacements seem to dominant us. Is that better recruitment or better coaching? Maybe a bit of both...

Okay. I did forget about Khari Jones.
So Nichols MIGHT be the best QB we've had since Khari Jones. (with apologies to Kevin Glenn...Glenn was a decent QB for us and we should not have cut him years ago, but Nichols at this point is maybe better than Glenn was at his prime...very hard to gauge that of course cause I think Nichols has a very good offensive line and good receivers...best offensive set we have had for many years.
Nichols is definitely surprising me. Managing the game well. Throws deep well. His scrambling is pretty crappy, but oh well.

I heard it was closer to 300k. Seriously though...two tweets by CFL insiders at the time of his signing had him making 118k and 140k respectively. He was nowhere near 200k.

It's not about what he might or might not do in the future, it's about his entire career so far. If he does well this year or in the future, you can move him out of the failure column. It's pretty evident, based on the facts and the stats, that Richards has been a failure and the 'give him a participation ribbon' folks don't want to say it, which is fine, but they also don't want anyone else to say it, which causes the arguments.
I had patience in his first and second seasons. I'd give him TC to prove that he belongs. If he can't then my patience has run out and I'd like to see someone else get the shot.

Also the fact that Kevin Glenn asked to be released (I guess he saw an opportunity in Sask), and giving Nichols more money meant something had to give somewhere.
I think we are in a lot stronger position as a team for a back up (touch wood) to succeed here. We have a great kicking game, our offensive line is the strongest its been in years, and we have some good Canadian depth. If Dominique Davis needed to start he might not need to be The Star player, he might just need to manage a game.

When I saw this thread title I thought it was a joke. Honestly, many on this board expect the offense to score 40 every week and the defense to give up 10 points or less. Now if we had a qb named Dunigan, Brock or Clements maybe we could score 40, but we don't. 
If we give up the continuity that we have in the offseason and cut ties with LaPolice, it is just as likely that we will regress next season. We are not perfect, and yes I have been frustrated at times with O Shea/ LaPolice (mostly with their loyalty to a quarterback), but we are building in the right direction here and even if we lose on Sunday I will consider 2016 a success in a very good western division. Go Blue!
