  1. Regarding bringing Trestman here to coach... ...if you think O Shea is stubborn and sticks with his guy (Matt Nichols)...Trestman is this times 2...
  2. Or put another way... time wounds all heals
  3. And yet not once during the game did I see Lapo run the ball, pass the ball, or make any blocks. I know your point is that Lapo called a bad game...I don't know if he did or didn't. But on a number of plays I could see open receivers which Nichols didn't see. Nichols gets locked in easily, especially when he scrambles...that's just what you get with Nichols.
  4. Westwood and Bauming were saying this a.m. that they expect Wolitarsky to play slotback next season. I could see him having a big year there (a la Gerald Wilcox).
  5. So we make Streveler the starter in 2019. Then what happens when he bolts for the NFL (as Walby and Westwood predict) in 2020? Hmmm. Honestly we will need to move on from Nichols at some point...whether that is now (not likely) or for 2020 or 2021 or 2022 I don't know. It is likely the Bombers will keep Nichols and incorporate Streveler into the offense even more in 2019. IF...and that is a big IF, BLM goes to the NFL next year, the West is wide open. Here's hoping Calgary loses the Grey Cup (3 peat) and then BLM leaves.
  6. Pretty good season guys. Not sure what changes we will make in the off season. I just hope our changes don't result in a big slide next year...i.e. Jeff Reinbold, Mike kelly
  7. This! Boy, Tom Clements and the boys laid a lickin' on the Riders that day! Also, wasn't it Troy Kopp who had that famous comeback (something like 2 TDs in the final moments) circa 2000?? Wasn't that against the Riders? I was going nuts at the end of that one!
  8. I went to Mosaic for the first time on Sunday. It was nice. Beautiful even. I think IGF's roof covers a bit more of the stands. I felt it was comparable to IGF. Probably depends on which fan you are (Bombers or Riders) that would determine which stadium you prefer. IGF stadium announcer is way better. The Rider fans honestly were respectful to me and my buddy. A couple of fans even shook our hands afterwards and wished us luck. Oh yeah, one more thing...IGF was definitely louder - although I haven't been at Mosaic for a LDC game yet - but IGF crowd is louder.
  9. Ray is done. Good grief, the guy is old and broken. BLM apparently has lots of NFL interest. Let's say he goes. Reilly likely stays in Edmonton. Ottawa will try to re-sign Harris The rest of the potential free agent QB's :Colllaros, Glenn, Lulay, Jennings, Bridge etc. well, you take your chances
  10. Nichols had a good game. It's simple. When you run the ball more (which you should do in cold/poor weather) you pass the ball less. We had about 200 yards running. In addition to this, we had our back up QB in there for a good 10 plays.
  11. I've heard Maas is a very understanding coach. Any player, any time, can come with a problem into his office and Maas will say, "I'm all ears, man."
  12. probably by half-time
  13. Agreed. However, Walby and Westwood think Streveler is gone to the NFL after next season.
  14. Well...we'll let that action go this time. But in the future...only do tasks in which you don't have to take your eyes off the game. For example, I fold laundry...
  15. Strange. Not sure why the Riders would need a D lineman. They already have the greatest self-proclaimed D line in the league.
  16. I'm assuming Dressler would come off. Wild, on the other hand, would likely stay on, as Bighill should get some rest.
  17. At least we aren't getting a lot of holding penalties. In past years it has seemed that the refs have called holding/blocking from the rear on every punt play.
  18. I think Saskatchewan could support 2 teams...football is #1 here. Doubt it will ever happen, but the thought is intriguing. It's really hard to evaluate Manziel on a bad football team and it's unfair to evaluate him for the long term based on only one year. Will he amount to much in the CFL? I don't know. But give him a decent offensive line and some receivers that can catch and then we'll see. It seems to me that Manziel's biggest hurdle right now is to stay in the pocket and make quicker reads (however, his lack of that is also due to poor talent around him).
  19. I know they won the Cup last year (in a lucky way you could argue), but the Argos were not a good team last year. They got hot (in a poor eastern Division) near the end of the season. You could tell Ray was getting old and worn out, but they let him come back.
  20. It's advisable to read a post before commenting on it. I said "assuming he continues to progress". Streveler will still be young in 2020, while Nichols will be 33. 33 isn't old for a QB nessasarily, but again, Nichols is no BLM or Reilly.
  21. I still say our best/most likely scenario would be for Nichols to start 2019 with Streveler backing up...then going into 2020 we offer Streveler starters $ (assuming he continues to progress) and hopefully keep Nichols around as a backup.
  22. I know it was many years ago...but Deiter Brock was in his 30s when he signed in L.A. as a "rookie".
  23. Following that logic it could also be said that winning in the playoffs is also a "team stat"
