  1. And who says the BB organization doesn't find good QB's! lol
  2. Davis is finally getting a shot at #1...and making the most of it
  3. Anyone surprised the Riders didn't challenge on that Ottawa TD? That was definitely offensive pass interference.
  4. Yeah, I can't see the league not giving Harris a player of the week star.
  5. Yes, but couldn't you say that about any player after any game? Football is played with 24 (or 22 NFL) players on the field who make plays and who make mistakes. I'd argue Nichols had the best game of any QB this week (maybe Harris in conversation too).
  6. I doubt it. Masoli will bounce back. Hamilton takes the east. I took almost as much pleasure in seeing Calgary lose to Ottawa as I did in seeing Winnipeg win.
  7. Okay, maybe your right. But a great game nonetheless...
  8. I think we filled the safety spot quite nicely thank you very much
  9. Yah we gotta stop Reilly. We know he's going deep every other play. Gotta get some pressure on him. He's going to throw for like 500 yards on us.
  10. We are a better team on paper...but they have the better QB and are at home. Plus the intangible of it being the 1st game...so you never know. Let's hope we are prepared.
  11. As always, a huge key will be our defense containing Mike Reilly. If we can keep him in the pocket, we are probably okay. If he gets out and works his magic, look out!
  12. It's still going to overlap with the Raptors game (that's why they moved it to 7). Too bad for the CFL. Their showcase opening game will be overtaken by Raptors. I'll watch 2 hours of football and then turn over to the start of BB game. Hopefully the Raptors can wrap it up!
  13. Yes, Rod Pederson did predict the Bombers finish 5th in the west this year; however, the new voice of the Riders, Derek Taylor, (today) predicted the Bombers finish 1st!! This is my prediction: East Hamilton Toronto Ottawa Montreal West Winnipeg Calgary SK B.C. Edmonton
  14. Don't take Pederson too seriously. He predicted us to finish 5th last year too. However, I am rather shocked he has the Riders finishing 4th (did not think his Rider glasses allowed for that).
  15. I was surprised to see Bennett cut. But maybe salary, age, and up-side all played into the decision. It would have been nice to somehow keep 4 QB's as I doubt we will keep both Nichols & Streveler next year. I am looking forward to seeing how McGuire can improve. (Maybe he & not Streveler, will be our QB of the future?!).
  16. Bennett is #3. He's gotten better (which you obviously want out of your back-up) in the last couple of years. Having said that, I hope the Bombers do what they can to keep McGuire around as both Streveler & Nichols are set to be free agents after 2019. He looks good so far. And dare I say it, based on limited preseason action, Bennett & McGuire looked like more accurate passers than Streveler.
  17. I don't know. Henry Williams turned out to be a pretty good "gadget" guy with the Eskimos...er, I mean "Gizmo" guy.
  18. Eliminian was out of camp for awhile as he was a member of the CFLPA who was informing the players on the new deal
  19. You sure that's the right picture of the guy? The guy in the above picture looks more like a HB to me! (But then again, I'm not standing next to him either!)
  20. Walby was a great one. One reporter even wondered if Walby was the greatest Canadian ever to play in the CFL! Problem is though, my list would have to include Grant and Ploen (4 or 5 Grey Cup victories) and I would have to put Stegall in there too (no one will ever touch his TD record and he was never caught from behind!). Then there's Leo Lewis who was, arguably, our best RB of all time (plus he was scary on returns) and a man who Bud Grant said was THE greatest player he ever coached - CFL/NFL. So there's that...
  21. Grant, Ploen, Stegall, and Lewis...case closed
  22. Yes, interesting isn't it! We had a bad offense that year, led by Sean Salisbury, and yet we won the Grey Cup with a lights out defense. If we are a top 3 team in each category this year (offense, defense, special teams), which I think is quite attainable, we will be very successful (so says Captain Obvious).
  23. Yup! We probably shouldn't even bother to play the games this season. I guess the only team we might have a chance against is Montreal. 1 or 2 wins then?? I guess it's easier in life to be an all out pessimist, that way if your team stumbles you can say, "Look, I told you guys!"
