  1. That was a pathetic excuse for an "article/blog"... to summarize: Poor me, Chamblin made my job so hard... Lawless and Penton were both wrong and I was right
  2. @garylawless - "#1 candidate w/ that board is Eric Tillman. They're going to try & get him back in Saskatchewan" #CFL #Riders via @CFLonTSN @garylawless - "I think he's (Eric Tillman) probably the next GM of the Saskatchewan Roughriders." #CFL #Riders via @CFLonTSN Jamie Nye ‏@jamienye 10h10 hours ago Tillman will definitely be talked to by #Riders. No doubt in my mind... but I still think best odds are on O'Day as full-time guy So you're saying Murphy will be available
  3. Like ISO - I'm getting sick of this. And it's deja vu - as I had the same attitude in March - I had pretty much 'officially' dropped the Oilers and decided I was going to go back to cheering for the Jets. However, the draft Lottery and subsequent house cleaning that happened in the Oiler front office has me back on their side (remember folks - the Jets LEFT and even then it took me to the '06 run before I could start investing emotionally in the Oilers and you just don't turn these things 'off'' - at least I don't). Eskimos are slowly growing on me - and the bombers are slowly dying in me. Another year or two of this (and especially if the Eskimos go to another Grey Cup) and I may become a complete sell out and the Eskimos may become my team. I get where you're coming from with this... especially when Edm seems to be very well run for the most part... if I lived in Edm or Cgy I could see myself jumping ship, or at least making them my 1A... but I'd never officially give up on the Bombers... just too emotionally invested my entire life
  4. I've been trying to stay optimistic all season... with every going on this past week... I'm starting to lose it...
  5. Nope you got it all wrong... we will trade our 1st round pick for Ray... Barker will forget we don't actually have a first round pick but it will be too late to go back... then MB will be fired... Ray, Howell, and Buck will devise the greatest offense the CFL has ever seen... Ray will lead us to a Grey Cup victory at home... and then he'll retire into the sunset and Drew Willy will pick up the greatest offense the CFL has ever seen in 2016... Bombers repeat the the Eskies of the 70/80s and win 5 consecutive Grey Cups! That's a reasonable scenario, right...
  6. That's one stud NI (Westerman), one potential stud (Chungh), a solid NI receiver (Kolhert), a 5th receiver (JFG), a past his prime OL (Picard) and two guys on D half the people here want to replace. For fun, compare that to Hamilton and Calgary. I didn't say this was a Grey Cup winning line-up... but if adding more Americans to the O-line helps the offense we can still manage with the NI's we have at other spots...
  7. Who of those 3 is covering a slotback? Bass or Wild. I don't know if Simmons has the speed. Neither do the other two. Randle isn't going anywhere, and even if he is you're still playing a DB in that spot. Not sold on Randle. Wait... what?? Have you watching him play at all this year... he's been fantastic in the SAM/dime spot
  8. I gotta say, I really hate this news... I wish they had let them "try to get it right".... I fully expect a thrashing this weekend.... and the long term news makes me nervous too... I feel like they're gonna get a guy like John Murphy as GM and rebuild faster than the Bombers... I keep think/hoping/wishing it's gonna get better in Bomberland soon... it has to eventually, right!?! why must we suffer through such misery!!! I the worst part is... like many Bomber fans and proud Winnipeggers... I would love to see Bobby Dyce be successful...
  9. And they are welcome to him. He shows every indication that his problems are bigger than his talent. CFL recognizes NFL suspensions. Blackmon is an incredible talent... if he gets his act together (HUGE IF) and gets his suspension lifted there's no doubt he'll get another NFL opportunity...
  10. No big surprise- Wild is a sort of "tweener"- too small for an NFL linebacker and not really suited to be a DB. I would love to see him here as an outside linebacker. Theoretically that's true but his play is saying otherwise... he was getting rave reviews for his work at safety, then he started practising at ILB when they suffered and few injuries... Coach Tomlin praised his versatility... he is also a special teams beast and a good long snapper in case of emergency... if you're a fringe player, having versatility is essential... Ian Wild is exactly the kind of player every NFL needs... as much as I would love to see him back here, he's impossible not to root for...
  11. a couple studs on the DL could transform this defense from decent to great... a pass rusher to play opposite of Westerman and a solid interior lineman...
  12. Going back to 17to85's original point.... to meet the ratio needs, there doesn't necessarily need to be a stock pile of NI OL... if we can find some good NFL cast-off o-linemen, there's no reason our 7 NIs can't be Bucknor, Hurl, Westerman, JFG, Kohlert, Picard, Chungh... with an o-line of Bryant - Import - Picard - Chungh - Import (or even Neufeld at the RT spot. I'm not sure how he played on Saturday, I missed the game and don't particularly care to watch the highlights...)
  13. The worst part is all the pressure is on the Bombers... none on the Riders... Riders have nothing to lose, their season is already lost, just go out and play... Bombers are more desperate with the playoffs still technically in reach... and the idea that anyone can beat the sad sack Riders.... I'm just glad I'll be in a bush somewhere with no cell coverage at kick off... I disagree with this completely.... I find the Riders have much more pressure. Purely from the fans. Bomber locals already have given up and seen this song and dance before .... As well O'Shea happy go lucky AWW SHUCKS personality has made our locker room soft and the guys have already checked out.... The Riders have the complete opposite where the coaching is throwing them under the bus non stop and the fans are going crazy. Way more pressure on the Riders to perform IMO. But as 17to85 said... we've seen this before I fully expect the Blue to get throttled in Regina and then bounce back and win in Winnipeg. True, there is always pressure on the Riders... but I think there's more on the Bombers... a playoff spot is still within reach and these are games we should win... and typically don't
  14. Phil Hunt? I didn't realize he was still kicking around... good for him...
  15. When he got hurt I asked a friends wife about the type of injury he suffered. She figured 3 months. If that's accurate, then we likely don't see him again this season unless we're hanging on to a playoff spot really late in the year. And what qualifications does your friends wife have, other than being your "friends wife"? Haha I laughed quite a bit when reading through this thread... my first thought was... you should probably preface that statement by telling us what your friend's wife's qualifications are or you'll get nailed here..

  17. You miss a 30-39 yarder in the NFL and you're gone the next day... he's likely not getting any NFL opportunities yet...
  18. Two thought from this thread... Bruce Johnson... I was never quite sold on him... but I can't say I've focused on him all that much... the fact that we haven't really noticed him lead me to believe he was doing alright... Buck Pierce... not sure why so many people think he should be the guy to step in if MB is canned... Marcus Howell has much more coaching experience... people were calling for him to take over in 2013 when Crowton was stinking up the joint... I'm not sure if either guy is ready to be an OC but I'd be much more confident in Howell at this stage in their careers...
  19. Like I've always said, the riders losing is nice consolation... but it certainly doesn't make me feel any better about the bombers season right now...
  20. I read that Vaughan Martin is a Mtl draft pick and they still hold his rights... though he may still latch on to another NFL team...
  21. You must be the only person on earth that's seen Yantz play against CFL players. You're making some massive assumptions. completely agree... you know who else can whip the ball around in practice... Brian Brohm... game situations are a completely different animal...
  22. Same goes for Waggoner, thought he would have worked his way into the lineup by now if he is the stud everyone hoped for. Waggoner has dressed every game this year... he just hasn't taken any defensive reps (that I can recall)
  23. the thing that confuses me is Littlejohn comes in off the street and gets into the game right away... Simmons is a CFL vet, he had a full week of practice and he "isn't ready yet" according to Bob Irving... seems odd to me...
  24. Meanwhile Mtl looks to be making an impact running the ball and playing strong D... seems to be a pretty good formula...
  25. doesn't hurt to bring in some competition.
