So with Kyrie Wilson... I love him as a player. For years I called him the most underrated player in the league... but given his age and injury history he isn't the future... so why not work our Canadians who should be the future in there?
this is pretty much exactly what I said after we signed him back... the frustrating/confusing part is we decide to stick with Wilson at 32 years old after three injury reduced seasons... but move on from Woli at 30 years old with only 1 injury season

MOS didn’t sound too pleased with Milt on the coaches show yesterday.
“I think he started off by saying that because of who it is, saying it, Milt Stegall, a lot of people listen. And I think because of that powerful voice, he should probably choose his words a lot more carefully than he did. You know, he's not qualified to make those decisions or he certainly doesn't know what's going on.And I'm not qualified either, right? But I have a little more insight into the situation, obviously. But you know, there's, when you make those pretty brash statements, you're, you know, and you make them quickly in the spur of the moment, you're not considering his family or his people that care about him when you make those statements, right?
And I think a little more care and concern should have went in before, you know, announcing to the world and creating clickbait and getting your likes up.”
I agree with Milt... but O'Shea is also totally correct... can't possibly make that call definitively without knowing all the info...

I think the options above jackson are pretty limited for oc. Maybe if AC is ready for a promotion, but idk if we'd even be viable for that. Or If dinwiddie gets fired but he also would likely get a mroe desirbale role/team.
I don't think there's any chance Dinwiddie gets fired... but if he did... I can think of another position I'd like him in here... and it would be slightly higher than OC

Milt has a piece saying he should hang them up NOW....That could leave us in the position of putting Wilson behind centre...IF Streve can't get it done....Looks like we may be behind the eight ball for the rest of the year...and a good time to sort this club out and keep what we're going to go with next year and dump the also rans....
Not that I want Zach to call it a career... he's clearly the best QB we have on the roster now... but something like that would, at least, force our coaching and management to make some changes...

100%... anyone who disagree with this still just hates him for wearing green for so long...

This is a fair point. Just let the fan bases do what they want to do. We call the Labor Day game the banjo bowl warm up... And they'll call it the Labor Day rematch.
There are worse things to get all bent out of shape about.
you're missing the point... it's not just the fans that call it the labour day rematch... the Rider org and management refuse to call it the banjo bowl... this whole "banjo bowl preview" is a joke from fans, mostly at this site (I've never heard/seen it anywhere else)...
in conclusion... one is just a fan thing... the other is a cry-baby organization who's feelings are hurt by the name of a football game...

In general, the best way to disrupt a QB is give him all the time in the world in the pocket... and have zero pocket collapsers... also no interior rush/run stop is solid too... that's how I would build my defense!
Like the old saying goes... the lines aren't very important to football and you can easily win with shitty line play (I think I have that right)... teams are build from the outside in? Is that it?

Hallett...Kramdi...2 guys really who shouldn't be rushed back for any reason
Schoen wont be playing fir a while...if at all....well ....shouldn't be
Kramdi playing means Adams or Woods gets in the line up... that should be worth something.... especially with Schmek out... we should take Ayers off (though I'd prefer to keep him in a scratch Wilson) and dress both Woods and Adams...

Stamps management was willing to make major changes where ours has been reluctant to do that. Yeah we made (or were forced to make) a couple moves but there definitely could/should have been more.
19 hours ago, Booch said:being forced....and having the foresight and planning to do so, and actually see your weaknesses before they kill you.......2 different things
Calgary completely bottomed out... to suggest they weren't forced to make wholesale changes is revisionist.... Hopefully the Bombers can and do make major changes before the bottom falls out, like it did in Calgary

It is really just silly to keep Ayers on if only plays STs. He looked good rotating on D last year, not sure why he gets no reps now.
while I like Kyrie Wilson as a player, when healthy... this is exactly the reason why I did not like his resigning.... why couldn't Ayers and J Jones rotate through the defense instead?... and now we might have a good one in Woodbey... why are we wasting reps on a 32 year old LB when he have younger, cheaper, and likely better options...

Who on here is going to want this? The vets that people speak about wanting back are guys who at least at one point "excelled" and were bright spots on the team.
At no point that I can remember of anyone who thought Jake Thomas "was the man". My only memories of him going back is that he's a guy that "doesn't get hurt" and has been around a long time.
this is a little bit revisionist... most would agree he was a nice quality rotational piece on the DL... up until about 2021... my fondest memory of him (and what I would consider essentially his last useful play as a Bomber) was his bullrush that led to a holding call in OT of the 21 GC... that penalty negated a good run, put Hammy into 1st and 20, which became 2nd and 18, and the rest is history... Jake should've went out on top after that year

NFL is also different than up here...IR guys also count against the cap...may not be their full salary as some don't necessarily get their actual full non guaranteed amount....but none the less it counts along with the PR guys, so teams need to really be aware of where the cap is being spent, so a guy they may view as a real long shot project...or one who may never evolve into a legit starter, they won't waste their time on...and money
I believe guys on IR with designation to return count against the cap... if he's out for the year, no cap hit...

They don't need another 500 yard rec. They've got plenty of those. They need a legit #1, make defenses bracket rec.
it's not necessarily about him being just a 500 yard receiver... if that's all he brought, I'd agree... he brings chemistry with the offense.... blocking... TE-type play... leadership... reliability (as a player, not necessarily when it comes to injury concerns)... if the Bomber decided to bring him back, it wouldn't be to put this O over the top... it would be help shore up the bottom end and provide depth...
Of course we all agree, unearthing a difference maker at this point would be amazing... but probably not realistic...

How is it not great? As of last week games have been averaging 54 points a game per season which is 27 points per game per team. 13 points is pretty good no matter how you slice it. Considering the fact it’s not like this is some 22 green rookie, it’s a guy who’s been around the NFL/USFL league for several years and he played like 90 percent of last weeks game. To have him complete under 50 percent of his passes under 200 yards is a good effort in my opinion. Considering he has that 45 yard bomb early on.
overall, I'm not disappointed... but it's hard to forget some of those long balls... and he seemed too comfortable at times for a raw QB... 2021 Bombers would've shut them out, easy... like I'm confident they wouldn't have passed midfield, lol....

Brady being a safety valve for Zach was huge. Half of those receptions were of the check-down variety but were very successful.
reminds me a bit of the Nichols-Harris offense (and I don't mean that as an insult)... now if we could get the deep shot back into the game... we could be cooking again

Montreals offense is obviously banged up, but we beat a no joke defense while missing key receivers. Bombers slowly wore them down with smart play by Zach and Hogan FINALLY let Brady cook.
This is kind of my take away... Mtl's offense was a shell of it's normal self... and we gave up 13 points... not great against a 4th string QB... but not terrible
Our O vs their D was basically health vs health (minus Dequoy and Schoen)... and then we were down to 3 viable receivers by the second half... we managed to put up 26 points and get the W
To me, this game is a far bigger positive than needing 2 ST TDs to beat a bad Toronto team, at home, a few weeks ago...

Brady - He is who we thought he was! 20+ touches moving forward please.
Zach - a few tough throws and big time moves. Finally taking what defences are giving
Hogan - Stayed with what was working and said Just try and stop us!!!!
which is great... until they do stop us... then what?

I’m not convinced that Osh didn’t make that challenge in error…didn’t realize it would result in a worse outcome.
Pretty sure, calling out the refs, wasn’t his intention.he admitted to it in the post game... in a "I shouldn't have done it and my emotions got the best of me" kind of way

I may be in the minority here, but from what I see...once Schmekle and Person were added for rotation on teh D-line, the overall play of the unit improved...optimistic Woods can add even another notch up.
Since we re-jigged our LB's I feel that they have been playing well, T Johns has surprised the heck outta me
Benching bridges and moving Parker away from safety also seemed to improve the secondary, Parker is hurt, Bonds is done, but I will say although a small sample size Allen and Vaval show great promise, and Lawson jr, from my eye test has been an improvement from Bridges.
In saying this, yes we still gave up an explosion play, and had a few slopy tackles, but.....I just have a feeling that this defence once a few guys settle in could become a really good unit
Or specials are great...finally
On offence though, I am not optimistic about, is it Hogan, is it the O-line, lack of receiver talent...is Brady more hurt then we know.....maybe, but many "questionable" calls...Some real work needs to be done with this unit
Schmekel > Thomas... having them both out there is the biggest problem...

the odd part is he challenged a Demski catch last year just to stick it to the refs... knowing that wining the challenge would actually cost us two yards....

So who wants to go to some Argo home games next season In Winnipeg
The CFL announced Friday that the Argonauts will play home games at Hamilton Stadium, Mosaic Stadium in Regina and Winnipeg's Princess Auto Stadium against the host teams during the World Cup.
The Lions will relocate for two home games, with the club planning to announce those details at a later time.
it says "against the host teams"... so I think we just play Tor in Winnipeg twice next year instead of a home and home... which doesn't really make sense... you'd think it would be a neutral site game in fairness to the Argos
For example they could play their "home" game against Sask in Winnipeg... and their "home" game against Wpg in Regina... this would also include the added benefit that the Wpg and Sask fans likely would not cheer for their rival giving the Argos something of a home field advantage...

Beat Montreal. Beat Sask b2b.
8 and 4. Likely tied for 1st.
they aren’t elite. Nobody is. Sask isn’t even. They have had the healthy QB tho. Bombers need some upgrades also. They aren’t elite but they appear to be better than some of you think.
this is an optimistic outlook... maybe we can go in a beat Mtl's second team... winning LD is going to be nearly impossible... just hope we can get the split in the BB.... coming out of this next 3 game stretch at 7-5 is probably the best case scenario

my biggest takeaway from last night is this is just a mediocre team... I have no idea how to fix it and make it a competitor quickly... but right now... we're nowhere near playing in our house for the GC...
seconding what @wbbfan said about the list of good plays made by good players... no reason that game should've been anywhere neat close... especially with a replacement level QB leading the comeback...
-
I know it's way too easy to say this in hindsight... and credit to some here that called it... after the 2023 season was the chance to do a significant re-tool... move on from Zach and roll with Dru... move on from Biggie after his injury in the WF and subsequent reinjury in the GC... start auditioning guys everywhere that wasn't solidified... might've meant some growing pains in 2024... but we had that anyways.... good coaching/management should've had the foresight to start preparing for the 2025 GC a season early

That was the 3rd time we played them in our last 5 games, though. going 0-3 by a total deficit of 43 points. The last game in a series like that should be the hardest for Calgary to win. Dropping back-to-back games vs the same team by 21 points each, then 2 games after that dropping a 3rd by 1 point isn't a positive for us.
not to mention that game should've been a walk for the Bombers after going up 17-0...

How long do you give him to adapt though? Dickenson started out losing 2 straight grey cups, won 1, then then didn't make it to the conference finals for 4 straight years before bottoming out and missing the playoffs last year. That is ALOT of rope.
I agree with you... and I don't know the answer to that question... but I think we need to start seeing some changes before the rope should be extended too much...

our lines are bad... that's why the team is bad... if you could magically make our DL and OL top notch and leave everything else as is... this team would be in the mix for 1st again...
Seriously though... what do we have to lose starting Terry Wilson next game??? Accidentally finding a good QB?
