I agree with others who have said we’re an American receiver injury away from big problems. Will we run Perkins at wr now that Streveler is gone?
Edit: overall I think we’re a better team than we were last year.
I've had this OL concern all off-season... or at least since we signed Broxton... We had a top RT last year and then we signed a top LT... as much as I love the future HoFer/GOAT Big Stan... I have trouble believing a Bryant-Broxton bookend is better than a Broxton-Randolph combo...
Also in a emergency... I'd have to guess we line up Vaval at receiver
1 hour ago, Goalie said: Hot Take. Zach gets hurt. We trade for Dru after giving TE a few games where he shows potential and wins 1 loses 1 wins 1 loses 1 type thing. Dru comes in and goes on a run ala Zach where we end up winning the cup in Calgary and TE like Streveler plays a pivotal role in the finals where he hits Corcoran for the winning TD on a 3rd down gamble with seconds to go.
Hotter take cuz click rage bait. All players Booch endorse eventually get cut.
did you just steal this bit from @GCn20 ?

I really like the improvements on D and having a legit OC and the two best offensive tackles in the should be enough for a pretty significantly improved offence.
I'm really hoping the extra American on the OL makes up for one less American with the receivers... we all know this offense thrives on Brady rolling and Zach having time to operate... a top notch OL dramatically helps both of those things...

Janarion likely has a GC MVP too... if the Bombers hadn't pissed away that game...
But... Speedy B, does have a league MOP... that holds some value

honestly... if Collaros/Brady play like Nichols/Harris circa 18/19... that wouldn't be the worst thing for this offense... as long as we can still occasionally stretch the field..

1 hour ago, Goalie said: Hmm. Here’s the thing.
What if Elsbury is actually better than Eli? I would think Job 1 of Oline.. keep Zach healthy. I’d start 4 Americans if it means Zach is healthy.
2 DIs on LBs is annoying
the thing people are forgetting... will the extra American on the OL make the line that much better... and have a more significant impact than the fifth receiver?... we don't know yet, but that could be the case... remember Sask started 4 Canadian receivers and 4 American OL in the GC, to much success...
on the D... I wonder if there is some kind of philosophical shift that has basically flipped the WILs and MIKEs... could be something to monitor...
On the DL.. too bad we don't have one more useful Cdn for rotational purposes... what ever happened to that global DT we drafted, Edward Vesterinen?... did he even come to camp?

Why is that a problem? I’ll take good to very good. Not every guy on every team can be elite. How many guys in the CFL can we even label as being elite?
it's not necessarily a problem... I would just like to see more effort to improve any chance we get... I agree that not everyone can be elite, but there's positions where you need an elite player to really move the scales... the interior D-line can be good to very good... but you want an elite pass rusher... the outside LBs can be good or very good... but you want an elite MLB.... your receiving corps can be good to very good but you want an elite #1 target...
I think I've made it clear that I like Tony Jones... but he plays a position that I'd prefer to uncover every stone to try and find the best
I actually also think he would make a great DI... he can fill in at WIL or MLB, and is killer on short yardage... I'm pretty sure (without looking it up) he would qualify as a designated American too... if we actually wanted to take advantage of that...

1 hour ago, GCn20 said: We did have 3-4 candidates in camp, and we even signed Santos Knox to compete. Not sure where this fictional narrative of no competition comes from? Because TJ keeps winning the job?
JSK should have been brought in to compete for WIL... do you honestly believe any of the rookies in camp had an shot of wining the MLB job?

2 minutes ago, GCn20 said: Tony Jones was a West all star last year. I get your point but TJ is not a pet. He is a good MIKE, he's no Bighill in his prime, but the disrespect he gets around here is 100% unfounded. If you wanna talk about pets we have half a dozen MUCH better examples than that. The guy lining up next to TJ for instance.
this is exactly my problem with Tony Jones... he kind of represents what the team has become over the last few years... he's good, some games even very good... but nowhere near elite... and his position seems to be set in stone, with no competition... why are we so set on being just good and not trying to be great?... Unless you have prime Bighill, you should have at least 3 or 4 MLB candidates in camp trying to improve the position...

were you expecting 12 catches for 250 yards and 4 TDs from the fifth receiver?... he knows his role, he can catch, run, block, and backup as a kick returner... again, not an all-star but a serviceable guy as your 4th Canadian receiver... to say "Anything is better than Cobb" is just a poor take

Randall was a big cut that stood out to me... as a guy who looked like the best OL on our team and one of the better RTs in the league last year... and then we went on to add a top LT... it felt short-sighted to release Randall in favour of (essentially) a 40 year old past his prime...
@wbbfan broke it down pretty good, so I have a better appreciation of the move now now.... just felt odd to release a good player, while still relatively young...

what's the deal with Kayden Jenkins... I know he showed some promise in the game 18 last year... however, I noticed he's listed at 275 this year (up from 260 last year)... I wonder if he has positional versatility, with the option to move inside sometimes due to his size and low centre of gravity...

When I read it, I understood that they would hire their own crew... and I had the exact same thought as you

Dude didn’t really ever go MIA. Never was an off field distraction either. Some folks didn’t like his humour or cockiness if you will but never caused problems. Stuck around even when we sucked. Wanted to win so badly as a bomber.
I enjoyed Kenny and I get why guys chase the bank if you will but I respect a guy like milt who probably could have but didn’t. Wanted to win here. Kenny seems to just chase the money. I get it. It’s all good but I think I prefer guys who putting winning first. All the power to him, some GM paid him. That’s great. A sucker is born every day. Good for Kenny but he’s not the greatest bomber receiver ever or even close.
really... the best receiver is CFL history is the best Bomber receiver you've ever seen?... what a bold take! 😁

unfortunately it's true... CFL is a stepping stone for almost everyone... and the CFL would be smart to position itself as the best stepping stone available to get the best talent... obviously some guys are self-aware enough to know it's the best they'll do and that's great too.... but I'd rather see one or two seasons out of guys like Dee Alford and Alex Singleton than none at all...

winning a championship with a dominant O-line and D-line??... this must be a new strategy in football!

Most career passing yards (79,816)Most career touchdown passes (455)
Most career pass completions (5,892)
Most career pass attempts (9,437)
Most career passing yards in Grey Cup games (2,470 yards)
Calvillo's greatest strength was longevity and the fact that he was so good so late in his career... but I'd agree that prime Ricky >> prime Calvillo

3 stars and hh 2001 revenge
in Blue Bomber Discussion
If your top two aren’t Jake and Brady… did you even watch the game? Lol…
Jake
Brady
Broxton
I’m nothing of an o-line expert but every time I watched Broxton he looked completely locked in… seemed like no chance anyone was getting by him… still makes me wonder what the line would look like with Broxton at LT and one of younger guys (Vanderpool now that Randolph is gone?) at RT… big Stan still solid, but starting to show his age…
