On Kyrie, you have two young Canadians in Shay and Smith. If Kyrie is back, do those two sit for another year?

How do you justify bringing Kyrie back (at 33 years old) when you have Shay, Smith, Woodbey, and Ayers all potentially on the roster...

Love what Kyrie brought in his prime... he was arguably the MODP front runner in 2022 before getting hurt... and of course we'll never forget the scoop from Rose for the 2021 GC clinching int... but it's time to move on

Agree on almost all points, but Kyrie Wilson had a good year and ought to be allowed to compete for a starting job next year. T. Jones was often out of position and Kyrie may have had to try to compensate.

The problem I have with this idea is if O'Shea is the coach... and Kyrie resigns... there's no competition... Kyrie is the starter in pen

There's a whole lot of complacency around this team that needs to get gone. Preseason next year better be an absolute dog fight for spots.

This would be my only condition for bringing back guys like Kyrie, Willie, Vaughnters, and even Neufeld... you have to earn your spot... I don't trust our coaching staff to do that

Lawler would have made a huge difference.  Collaros had basically one receiver he trusted for most of the season in Demski.  Wilson he has good rapport with.  Sterns it was developing.

We had no big targets, catch radius guys, and we have a QB that is fixated on taking vertical shots.  Lawler is probably the best guy in this era for the style Collaros thrives in.

If you're going all in you keep Lawler and probably go hard at someone like Geno Lewis.  You have Lawler, Schoen, Lewis.

For the most part the rest of the free agents wouldn't have changed anything for us.  It was a lot of pretty average DB's and OL.  Like if we sign a David Beard are we a better team?  Probably not.  We got probably the 3rd best DL available in Vaughters.  Ceresna was always going to Edmonton and they paid out the nose to try to bring most of Toronto's DL west.

The fail here is 3 seasons of needing to improve the bottom third of the roster and find/develop the next round of impact guys.  What do we have to show for those training camps?  Ontaria Wilson?  We're recycling DB's now, we've got no impact DL, a couple OL who look ok in Randolph and Vanterpool.  Wallace might take a step next year just in time to get paid.

There's two old adages in football that I still believe to be 100% true... defense wins championships... and you build your team from the lines out... the second one was our downfall this year... I said it earlier in the season... all else being equal behind the lines, if we could import a dominant OL and DL on this exact same team... I think we'd be hosting the WF again next week...

All this is to say... that I agree we should've kept Lawler and he would've helped the offense immensely... having poor lines was our biggest downfall

    Ha, I'm 33

It's a meeting spot for friends of mine. Tail gaiting too. Every game

That's called culture fellas and it's been built well here. The Bombers can afford a few poor performance seasons on the field and still have good attendance I believe

Ah, you’re one of those young whipper snapper millennials 🤣… us old millennials just watch the game and go home immediately after because it’s already past our bedtime…

But I do 100% agree with your point… just bugging you.

  5. Recent history MLBs for the Bombers...

    1. Bighill
    2. Simpson
    3. Lobendahn
    4. Henoc
    5. Kyrie Wilson as a fill in
    6. Jones

I debated whether to put Henoc above or below Lobendahn... I'm willing to accept arguments for either way... You can rank the others wherever... probably most after Jones... unless you want to count a guy like Zeke Moreno... but I'm thinking more about the guys who played a decent amount of time

Knowing Griffin is ready...arguably one of our better defenders and most versatile 2 yrs running and can play sam..hb..cb...safety..how hes not on for Lawson Jr is a joke...and before anyone says maybe hes not 100 percent healthy...well when has that stopped Stupid from rostering a guy before....I can think of 6...7 instances...plus fact tomorrow Demski is a GTD and hasn't practiced in weeks...but Griffin has been...just the fact he is an uncertainty now tells you...he not really ready...but why rest him an extra week so if we advance could make a diff in EF...

I think one of my biggest concerns is they start Demski... he's ineffective... then gets hurt again and has to leave the game in the 2nd quarter... and now we're short handed, instead just having Peterson, or someone else, in the game from the beginning...

Would've loved to see a ratio change and added another American receiver... then roster one of the two new DEs.... I don't care how inexperienced they are.... throw them out there in obvious passing situations and let 'em go wild...

  7. 20 hours ago, Booch said:

If we were smart and Demski cant go...and I said already I'd be shocked if he was healthy enough (but when has that stopped Osh before neutering our roster) the smart move is to go with 4 import receivers....and I'd roll with Echols as he is experienced....is also a returner so if Vaval gets hurt...or has to go in on defense because lord help us someone else gets hurt h gives us some coverage there....Being rigid and lacking any sense in retaining the ratio as is with 6 Cdn on offence and 1 on defense is just more of the standard effing ourselves once again in playoffs with roster issues and use of assets

We be just fine on defence having to have 2 on the field any given time as we do that anyway....Lawson...Kramdi...Smith who showed he can play...Bailey who showed the same...heck lets utilize the Nationalized Amerk rule and use those snaps to further help ourselves and limit how many times we have to watch Thomas out there doing squat....But sadly I am sure we will run out Corcorran and Cobb combo (hopefully just Cobb) if we go that route cause that's just the Oshea way....brain dead thought process.....and does nothing to help ZC with the offense...and lord knows he gonna need all the extra lil help and tweaks we can give him

All that being said...I fully expect to see Demski out there...limited in what he can do...be a non-factor and just make things even harder for ZC.....And truthfully...why wouldn't I or anyone else expect otherwise?....the past 3 seasons are pretty good indicator to what we can expect....until proven wrong.

Reading this post today after reviewing the depth chart.... is disappointing how many things you got right...

on top of his monster passing numbers, Rourke shocked me with his breakaway running. Dude can gallop and he turned a lot of broken plays into first downs or better.  Rourke is the MOP.

I was questioning the decision to throw away VAJ in favor of Rourke ... but that definitely appears to have been the correct call.

amazing what a full training camp and competent coaching will do... Let's hope we can replicate this Cdn QB success in a couple with with Elgersma...

actually had 4 tfl, more than Awe and Sankey, and 3 sacks, both more than any other mlb in the league

my problem with Jones is that, while yes he's good... but he's not a difference maker... and the team seems content with a 30 year old, above average MLB for the foreseeable future... I'd prefer if they were constantly trying to uncover a superstar and not just settling for "good enough"...

If Jenkins isn't dressed you can sign me up to the fire MOS crowd. Guy had a whale of a game this week and just looks explosive off the line. Really could be an X factor just in time for the playoffs.

I think our only hope might be that he's displaced Person... but I imagine we'll still see a large helping of Willie and Vaughnters... and don't forget Thomas on 90% of snaps...

  11. this past offseason was fairly disappointed at the time... and is a complete disaster in hindsight... consider the "big" moves we made:

    - Mitchell - couldn't crack the line up and when he has played, he's been useless outside of one play
    - Logan - lost his job to Vaval (though never really given much opportunity)
    - Jonathon Jones - released
    - Vaughters - been OK but nothing spectacular
    - Schoen - resigned at a discount only to basically ruin his career
    - Let Lawler walk and he's been an all-star in Hammy

Fajardo has led the Esks to the precipice of a playoff spot. Edmonton will lock him down. Ford is not the future there and they know it.

Faj > Kelly was more of a hypothetical... I don't expect either to be available

  12. I was excited about Tony Jones when he came on the scene for an injured Bighill last year... "excited" as in, this guys will be a great place holder until we find a permanent fit... I never imagined the team would view him as the permanent fit... I thought Jon Jones had a chance to be that guy.... I want a MLB that's a game changer... not just an above average place holder...

It continues to concern me that we hold on to 30-something linebackers while ignoring and releasing younger players... The silver lining for me is if the plan is to start seeing more defensive reps from Shay and Smith and get more Americans on the D-line... I'm all for it...

My concern, as ever, is Strev and the OL...

both lines... it is the absolute downfall of this team...

Gotta be Nichols for Willy? Or was that because Willy got hurt mid game?

I believe that switch came between games... though there was a rumour that move came from above... and everyone was stressing that Miller was getting too hands on with the team... maybe he needs to do that again...

Purely a guess, a hypothetical based on history. Mainly i’m just curious in the reluctance to give TW some reps in a real game considering ZC injury and CS play seems to be challenged of late. If it’s the case that there is no confidence in TW to lead our offence when our #1 and our #2 aren’t in a position/chsllenged to do it then we might want to move him to the pr at the very least and get a body in that you would be comfortable in putting him on.

I guess the question would be... is he not playing because they don't trust him or are they too loyal to the existing players?... if it's the former, why is he even here?... if it's the latter... that's a good way for a coach to lose his job

Just to stir the pot and make it more unbearable for some around here, for arguments sake and discussion purposes, if ZC is a no go,  Strev gets the nod to start at, let's say he's at 60/70% health because that will put us in a better spot to be successful than TW at 100% health. TW is going to back up CS against the RedBlacks and the only way TW gets into the game is short yardage and if CS gets hurt and can't return. If our offense falters with Strev at the helm and we don't employ TW because CS deserves to be out there because he's earned, he's earned the loyalty for him to work thru adversity plus he wasn't getting the support he needed plus it's been determined TW is not serviceable enough to run our offense and we lose our 4th straight game we are to look away from this not discuss the QB situation because it's just reality it's the best we have it's off limits and focus our energy on (fill in the blank). Yes?

Oh and I hope CS lights it up, our oline crushes their dline BO gets 200 yards rushing our receivers have a hay day with their db's, our D plays lights out, our DB's and LB's clamp things down JT getting three sacks WJ with five knock downs and we win by a 100.

Maybe I'm missing the tone of this post but to the first bolded point... how do you know that?... I'm not saying Wilson is the next CFL superstar... but at this point, we have no idea what he is... could, at the very least, be an upgrade from Streveler...

Second bolded... we all hope for that every game... it just seems to happen less and less these days...
