That was my takeaway as well. The first hit that Wilson took was his fault. He needs to process what’s happening faster.

I thought the 4th stringer’s arm looked good. Looked to me like he had zip on the ball throwing to the sideline. He should have had a td pass but Wallis got jammed at the line and was a step behind. The ball was in the perfect spot if Wallis gets a better release.

Agree, Chase Artopeus had that Dru Brown vibe, cool and intelligent, maybe not as physically gifted as Wilson but almost surpassed him in effectiveness in one set of downs.  They need to keep him around on the PR to evaluate whether he has real potential to develop or if he's just a gifted improviser that can get by faking it for awhile.

A curious thing.... At last check, Jarious Jackson still hadn't made it to camp. So it's all on Hogan, with no safety net. Hoping things go well for him.

Don't have a good feeling about this, probably should have been here 3 weeks ago for rookie camp.  They might have to find someone else quick and go another route.

Hopefully we have an OC that will use 17 as a QB and not a gimmick. Also excited to see how Wilson develops in year 2.

These are Wilson's passing numbers from preseason #1 last year against the Riders, his first CFL game.

    10/15  115yds  1TD  0 INT  7.7 avg

     34 long

These are Strev's passing numbers for the same game.

    7/8  65yds  0 TD 0 INT  8.1 avg  20 long

Interesting to note, Zach played the entire preseason #2 last year, no other QB got a look.  If today is his day, I hope they limit his reps to one half.

That’s a fair point. I feel like he lead us to the big games after 21. Though our d did a lot to carry last year. But he wasn’t the guy who lead us in any of the gcs.
If we exchanged Zach for any other top 3 league qb in the last 5 years I think we play in atleast 4 gcs maybe all 5 and likely win one more atleast.

Finishing first in the division puts a team within one win of appearing in the Grey Cup, which becomes a significant advantage especially if the game is played in Wpg.  Got to give credit were credit is due, every year since 2019 Zach has put the Bombers in the driver's seat going into the playoffs,   The club just made 6 million dollars, the most ever, stands are packed, merch sales are great, you want to be the one that tells Zach he ain't worth the price he's asking???  Of course he didn't do it all on his own, but he's the one that's driven the train and filled up the stands with happiness.

450 should be his ceiling now...that and no big upfront money and he has to prove he is clearly head and shoulders the best QB in town...not given the job based on yrs past...especially if he does the big choke...again

Yah, I doubt Zach's agent is going to agree to a massive pay cut after he's led the Bombers to the Grey Cup 5 years running and elite QB pay is still $500k+ and potentially headed up.  It's not like he's failed to produce winning seasons like BLM  did for a few years before he accepted a substantial chop in pay.

He hasn’t started the step up yet from what I’ve seen and heard. Which is very disappointing to me. He could still do it. The first pre season game is pretty much the latest time he can start really showing out.
Mos seems pretty high on white too.

Reggie White has the best size and he's pushing 225 lbs which might make him the best blocker of the bunch if he's so inclined, most of the other receivers are sub 200 lbs..

Unfortunately, I’ll be out of town Saturday, so won’t be able to be at the game.  Hopefully the CFL+ stream is good.

It was good for the first pre-season game, I think they tied the audio to the Lions radio network but not entirely sure.

isn't this weekends game one of the two that TSN is showing?

    Nope.

It's easy to evaluate talent, any fan can do it because there is an eyeball test. What makes good professional coaches head and shoulders above fans is their ability to see the intangibles and knowing how to build a consistent winning culture. If talent were everything then guys like Chris Jones and Rick Campbell wouldn't be unemployed. My long winded way of saying I agree.

Rick is back in Ottawa starting over as their STC.

Nobody looked good in the return dept. last year ...We need to stop screwing around with the returner position...Why the hell we ever parted ways with Grant still boggles my mind....Whitehead showed **** all last year and there was literally nobody behind him...Preseason better show we've turned up a decent prospect OR Case shows he belongs...Tired of watching a  guy field a punt and literally fall down...disheartening to say the least ...We can't give up field position continually and be successful.....Here's hopin we 'find' OR have found the guy

The Stamps had 3 new kick returners in the game yesterday who looked deadly dangerous, Horton, Vaughn and Choquette, all small stature speedsters who might not make it as receivers, but they could make their mark in the CFL as returners if nothing else. They can't keep them all, grab one upon release and stash him on the PR to backup Logan who is frequently enough injured.

It would be interesting to know what determines playing one guy over another from the mind of O'Shea.

I can understand character issues if you have  self destructive guy who can be a cancer for a locker room for which his athletic / gameday ability  is great but the overall value afterwards isn't worth it.    I can't imagine over the last many years that we brought in guys who fit that negative criteria for which we dress a Navy Seal with D- level skills over numerous players who clearly have a much better upside.

It's simple, MOS invests in people he trusts to follow his path and rewards them with loyalty and support.  If he moved on to the next best talent at the drop of a hat he would have a hard time creating order, discipline, continuity, or peaceful camaraderie as everybody would be looking over their shoulder viewing other players and coaches as a potential enemy instead of a teammate.

The environment Booch wants to emulate, is the area Chris Jones has failed at numerous times.

O'Shea has always said players tend to make a leap on the second year, whether its learning the cfl game, or the bombers system. As far as the other recievers its a bit early to make any judgements.  Schoen hasnt stepped on the field and prior to being injured he was more productive than Lawler. We dont know what we have in d. Mitchell and Stern let alone the rookies.

Having said that I'm still disappointed that we let Woli go, especially when our Canadian receiver group looks weak behind Demski and Clercius

Save a bit of cash if Myron Mitchell replaces Dillon Mitchell, who is scheduled to make $160k and has yet to impress.  He has the potential to be great but he's not delivering.

Complacent...in many ways...and the success...or lack there of due to it when all said and done of late is apparent...time for Osh to get back to how he used to do things to a certain extent....he used to piss fans and other teams off before with is keen knowledge on rules and ways to exploit them....why the change?...

MOS relied on trickery a lot more before the team started to get good around 2017, after that he dropped the tricks and beat them with better football.  If I'm not mistaken he acted as his own STC for the first few years, where a lot of the trick plays were deployed.

Osh comments on the Montreal dribble thing:

respectfully disagree.  kudos to Montreal for finding a weird gap in the rulebook and exploiting it, but they've had their fun and I would hate to see a game-winning drive in the Grey Cup feature that tactic.

No worries about GC trickery, Antwi the one player that has successfully executed that play was traded to the Stamps.  If the Stamps make the GC bigger tricks  will have gone down.
