have to agree...he couldnt unseat Hardrick and Bryant here...who in the league could have...then he went to MTL and wasnt half bad....then 2 crap olines in Ott and Sask

I tend to trust our judgement on oline guys based on what we have seen the last 6..7 yrs...He will be on a line with all quality guys, quality coaching and winning environment....maybe this is his finally getting it moment...and I sure he comes in cheap to boot

Who are you talking about? Lofton played for Ott., BC, Edm. Wpg. Sask. and now back to Wpg.

Because a contract is a mutual agreement and Bailey likely won’t get a huge raise but he’s going to get a raise somewhere. He took an $80,000 pay cut last year. He deserves to go out and make his money somewhere. We can’t force him to sign here.

That can't be right, it would mean Bailey was being paid $160k or more at one time, I don't think he's ever earned near that much.  It seems he's been perpetually stuck at the bottom of the pay scale his entire career.

I mean maybe there is some confusion but that’s just not right. Habba had 4 sacks while jeffcoat was out last year playing in his place and wj was playing better before jj came back.
2023 jj missed weeks 1-3 and 5. In weeks 1 and 5 wj had 4 sacks. In weeks 1-3 haba had 1 sack in each game. His 4th came in week 15, which jj missed.
That’s 7 sacks with out jj in 4 games for our ends.

I dunno, take it up with DT, pretty sure that's what he said.

I actually think you're wrong here... the problem with Jackson wasn't his contributions as a fullback... it's that he was taking up a DI spot on a position that easily could've been filled by a Canadian rookie... if his passport was different (even Global), I don't think anyone would've had a problem with him

I think Jackson was originally used at FB as a temporary solution until Mike Miller returned to play.  According to Miller the team tried all season to get approval for his return from a chronic neck injury that would not heal.  Approval never came so Jackson stayed.

I’m not concerned about our secondary. I think all starters will be covered by guys already in the building and we’ll have a couple rookies for depth that will get their feet wet and like move into greater roles next year. Been there, done that.

LBers will be the same, with maybe some upside if Cole starts coming on strong. Adding Ford has the potential to help the secondary and/or the SAM spot. Kramdi getting the training camp as the starter will help as well. All good here.

DL has lost a massive piece in Jackson. Our D is not the same, Willie is not the same when Jeffcoat is not on the field. There is potential here to find a young dynamic defensive weapon that takes us to another level (especially looking forward to next season). There’s also the flip side of that where our DL takes a drastic step back.

Im not as worried about OL. It might take some time to gel, but it’s going to be nice to see Dobson or Eli step up. Again, this may pay dividends in 2025.

WRs should improve with Kenny hopefully available for a full season. I don’t expect much out of random guy #5, but maybe he comes on strong in the back half and can replace whichever one of Kenny/Dalton potentially walks next year.

Zach and Brady should continue to be the best at their respective positions. Stevy is going to be such a help to our O.

I think we’re at a B so far. We need our draft picks to contribute more. We really need to nail our DE scouting.

Don't know if this has already been mentioned or not, but on "The Huddle" podcast DT said that over the last 3 seasons in the 10 games that Jeffcoat missed that Willie played in, he registered 0 sacks.  He also added Haba had 0 sacks in games Jeffcoat did not play.

If they can't replace Jeffcoats pass-rush straight up, they're going to have to rely on blitzing combos a whole lot more than anyone wants to see.

Greg Peach? You must be thinking of someone else? He is not an OT, nor did we develop him.

Besides being Chris Streveler, where does this group think we are finding any kind of semi decent backup QB for less than 120k?

Right, I was thinking of Glenn January.  Stumbled across another memorable name from the 2014 roster, Dan Knapp, a pre-cursor to Trent Corney.

If you hear Walters' comments today, it really is that our remaining roster needs to be filled with guys on minimum contracts.

So we're losing depth pieces that we probably would have liked to keep. It's not the end of the world, but the scouts are going to be earning their keep this season. For starters and depth.

Only exceptional rookies step into the lineup in their first year, should be okay with a rookie receiver and the secondary but if injuries come into play, could be rough.

Biggest worry right now is Grant and Castillo, ST will suck and blow badly if those two are not re-signed.

But, the team saw all these guys and figured they could replace them for cheaper. It's going to hurt, but, imo, it's worth it for what we kept.

We need to reload for 2025.

Collaros and Lawler also big factors.

Walters buggered the accountant when he signed Lawler when he already had Schoen in house at 1/3 the price.  Years of careful player development walking out the door, starting over from scratch in a few too many positions.  Exciting times await!

Sounds like RT, WR, DT, DE and CB are all going to be camp battles as of right now

RT I am especially not worried about, Neufeld has turned into a real stabilizer on that side of the line and I have a good amount of trust in our scouting to find a tackle who fits our scheme. They’ve shown to be very competent at it, we’ve supplied a decent amount of OL to the rest of the league AND they pro scouted Hardrick when he was still a pylon in Regina. Not a ton of concern there.

O-line depth has gone from deep to shallow, I imagine Tui takes over from Gray and Dobson remains the 6th man.  More than one critical injury and they're down to using a CFL rookie to protect Zach.  I can see Walters addressing this situation later in FA with a cheap if not great pickup like he did with Jeff Keeping, MB. boy Landon Rice is available and is at the tail end of his career.

I’m not necessarily disagreeing with you, but my counter point would be to ask if you’re paying as close attention to the pieces those other teams have lost as well

BC has done the best job of protecting their existing roster so far, other than Rhymes who was going home to Ottawa and Betts to the NFL, the only other player they lost was Cooper.

This is quite literally one of the most ridiculous posts I have read in years.   Everyone you say signs with the Riders, they will not get their bang for their buck.   This coming from a fan of a team that is spending $1.34 million dollars on 4 players on offence lol.

And getting Ouellette for $70K less than Oliveira is a pretty good deal for the Riders.

All things considered, having a flush toilet "is a pretty good deal for the Riders".
