  1. Actually Drew Willy's name is in the thread title...
  2. Kelly's been about as good as we'd usually expect from some random American rookie that isn't Chris Matthews/Greg Carr/TJ Harris. It would be nice to be able to get a guy like that every off-season. I don't know if that's realistic. Are other teams doing that? The current Bombers do certainly seem to place a higher importance on veteran players than we've seen in these parts for a while. And seems to me that's what EVERYONE was clamouring for by the end of the Mack era.
  3. I'd throw Stoudemire in that mix too. He went to camp with the Riders, but he'd never played a CFL game before. That's 4 good rookies. How many are expected for one season? Stoudemire was scouted and recruited by the Riders but was a shrewd move nonetheless. Great point. Likely no one had ever heard of him before The Beloved brought him up north.
  4. Well my first reaction when reading "Bad news is he'll be banged up for a while" was: How would he know - is that Mike O'shea?? But then I saw that it was one of our resident Rider fans who not only know everything about their teams, they are also able to educate us properly on all of our players and football in general. I for one would like to welcome our green overlords.
  5. Who cares about Saskatchewan? Isn't this a Riders board? Why else would a thread about how the Bombers are going to do with Willy injured be filled instead with Rider fans talking about how great their team is even with their backup.
  6. OMG did you hear what Blake Wheeler said about Evander Kane??!?! And Evander's HILARIOUS three word reply that could mean almost anything?! I wonder if they're not besties anymore? Tune into the Big Show to find some solid opinions on this based on nothing at all!
  7. Let's say Durant makes 400k and Burris makes 450k base salary. Durant has game cheques of 22k/game and Burris would make 25k/game. 3k a game difference, multiplied by 7 remaining games. You don't think they could fit an extra 21k under the cap? Would Durant be making that much? But yeah, good point - I think I forgot about the fact that injured players don't count against the cap. Or do they? What's the difference between the regular injured players and the guys on the 9 game IR, or whatever it's called, when it comes to the cap?
  8. I'm sure they'd have no problem fitting Burris' massive salary under the cap, somehow. Seriously, if this would happen then they should just abolish the cap completely. It's pointless.
  9. It's all good. After all, it's just football at the end of the day. I love watching it, talking about it but ultimately there are way more important things in my life. Me too. First and foremost, the health and well-being of Darian Durant. Secondly, Weston Dressler's panini and donut supply.
  10. Ha. To be fair, it's the easiest joke probably since Tom Canada was signed.
  11. Oh yes, I will also be praying and holding vigil for him. Does anyone know if there's some sort of fund I can donate to to support him in this time of great difficulty? It must be really tough being the first CFLer in history to suffer a (sort of) serious injury. Stay classy Max. Thanks.
  12. Chez Pierre? What a name. Found his website: http://www.chezpierres.com/
  13. We just lost to the Riders 3 straight times in a span of a month. I would hardly call that the good part of the season!!! It seems like lately the few times we've started off well in a season it all comes crashing down with a couple ridiculous losses to the filthy riders. And as someone who doesn't visit any other teams' sites, it never occured to me that we might actually be getting the best of the Rider fans here because all the others are insufferable. That's a comforting thought and I'm going to go with it without looking into it further.

  15. OK so I know, understand, and agree with the idea that fans of all CFL teams are welcome here to talk football. But that being said and at the risk of going all 17to85, what is with this place being overrun with Rider fans in virtually every thread defending all their players at length (like we really care that much), scolding us about how we should feel about injuries to their precious players (like they can really talk), and then being all condescendingly patronizing (easy to do after beating us 3 times). Are all the Rider boards too full of all their super awesome smart fans that they're spilling over here? Why would a Rider fan even want to spend so much time here??? And are they still going to be here when the Riders suck and the Bombers finally sweep them in a season (Lord willing, I'll never stop praying until it happens)????? Or maybe this is the new reality of being in the West, and we're just getting a taste of what fans in Calgary and Edmonton have to put up with inside the actual stadiums. The green virus is spreading. So in conclusion, Go Big Green BLUE!
  16. This statement is probably the worst statement out of the entire thread; it really proves what kind of person you are. I'll repeat just because someone disagree's with your opinion, remember it is an opinion in the end and there is no such thing as a wrong or right opinion, doesn't mean it is as you would call it, stupid. Speaking of stupid ****..... That's the single biggest problem with the world today, people actually believe that nonsense. Just because you have an opinion means it can't be wrong? **** right off, there are lots of wrong opinions out there. Everyone is entitled to their opinions that much is true, but that doesn't make every opinion valid and I am entitled to tell people when their opinions are wrong. That's generally true... but we're talking about sports. There's lots of room in sports for dissenting valid opinions. If you can't agree with that then you're going to be pretty miserable on a message board like this.
  17. I'm usually all for a good bash-fest on the media... but I have to say that this one doesn't seem bad to me at all. Wiecek is writing his story off of what O'shea says to him - what's wrong with that? If O'Shea cared about articles like these, then yes I guess he might have admitted at some point that the run game is not doing very well. But I'd imagine he's more concernced with coaching his players and part of that seems to be him not badmouthing them in the media pretty much ever. So in other words, nothing to see here. I think the Lawless hate has gone over the top here as well.
  18. I haven't been in a real good fight with a 14 year old since... I was 14.
  19. I'm pretty sure that's what 17to85 is trying to do.
  20. Wasn't he just asking too much so MLSE walked away? Anyone know what he paid for the team? I thought the going rate to buy the Argos has been $1 for years now. Just a willingness to pay the bills until it hurts too much.
  21. There's probably multiple kickers (I can think of one) who deserve it over a KR with a single touchdown.
  22. As much as I'd love to not care what happens to the Argos, without them I fear we'd see a lot less CFL games on TV, or worse. Which is why it's almost criminal what the "Savior" David Braley is doing right now. I thought Lysko's comment in that article about needing a higher bar set for what is a "good owner" was interesting - it was almost word for word what someone else had said in the Argos thread the other day. I guess it's nice to proven right about him again.
  23. IOWT
  24. Luckily Toronto is so big that they only have to find a small percentage of rubes to make a go of it. And they haven't even been able to do that. I have to think that if they can get into a smaller, outdoor stadium somewhere fun for people to go to, they can be just as well off as any other eastern team. Not like that's a high bar anyways.
  25. Gee, if only Toronto had recently built a smaller, outdoor stadium that they could share with, say, a soccer team. That would be perfect for the Toronto sports landscape.
