Bomber Camp Day #1 rating the best/worst
max power replied to TuscaloosaBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
LOL, yes this is following the script to a tee... -
Finally someone shows some love for Dan West, but don't fret, he's still on the team. (Wild?) I think he means James West. But I'm not too worried, we still have Graig Battle right?
-
No they did not. Yes they did.Actually I don't know.

Bombers sign long-snapper Chad Rempel & Release Others...
max power replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Good to hear the Bombers signed another Menno. Only four more to go to fill out the NI starting rotation. Rempel, Neufeld... Goosen? Close enough. Any others? -

Yes, let's all congratulate the Christians for keeping their stupid, dumb, backwards mouths shut for once, so we don't need to tell them how intolerant they are! -

One less Braley team in the league

I had to read this 3 times to figure it out. -
Sometimes I wonder how we've had the NDP in power for so long in this province... then I read threads like this and see opinions like these and it all starts to make sense. Otherwise intelligent people who think there's a Conservative "hidden agenda" to keep women barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen. And as if somehow it's a bad thing for more women to be able to be stay at home moms.

Yes I also am terrified of Harper and the Conservatives because of all my rights they've trampled on, despite me not being able to actually give any specifics other than some vague comments on bills that were and are being changed a lot before even being passed... Oh wait! They closed down some environmental experiment ponds that no one had heard of! Despicable!! Just kidding. I've never understood the Harper hatred that no one can seem to back up with any real facts. I'm pretty sure it's all fueled by partisan biases. The same way I can't stand Justin Trudeau's face and the ridiculous way he carries himself and flips his hair.

"There's no need to be so condescending. It just makes you sound ignorant. Then again, you seem to believe a modern society should be based upon a book of fairy tales full of talking snakes and whales that swallow people. " So which is it? Is it ok to to be condescending or not?

what a ridiculous statement to make. Alberta has seen it's population grow by something close to 1 million people in the last decade, you think it's cheap to build infrastructure to support that many new people? Especially without raising taxes? Give me the government who keeps taxes low rather than the one that raises taxes at the drop of a hat. Oil will bounce back and Alberta will be rolling in the money again within a few years, Manitoba is still going to be stuck with their ridiculously high tax rate in a few years though. My my, touchy on such an innocent statement. Manitoba has worse infrastructure problems than Alta. has, and way less money to have spent on it. Alta., with any kind of competent governing, should have quite the nest egg, even with a minimal Prov. tax, but they don't. Even though my statement was tongue in cheek…it still stands. So the question is, who's statement really is that ridiculous? As an Albertan who has lived in calgary & been through the Klein cuts... Alberta by far. We've squandered tens of billions just since 2007. Our Conservative politicians out here are douchebags. Manitoba's problem has always been the NDP with its pro labour, high taxes & anti business government. There's plenty of mismanagement in Manitoba but not on the scale of Alberta. Just to be clear, when you say "squandered tens of billions", you mean that the people of Alberta got to actually keep their own money? Because here in Manitoba when we talk about a government squandering billions it's when they take it from us through taxes and waste it on a hydro line that costs far, far more than it needs to be, for no good reason.
-
They didn't get the big money Alberta was fortunate to dig up. that's a defeatist attitude. Manitoba could have worked to build up some type of industrial or commercial base, but instead the province has had a long tradition of socialism and anti business policies. High taxes and pro-union governments make Manitoba into what it is. There's resources in Manitoba too, but there isn't a lot of incentive for companies to base themselves in Manitoba. So anti-business that we have one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country. It's just a fact of living here that there are more expenses and fewer resources than Alberta.Manitoba certainly wasn't competitive with Alberta when the PCs were in change for a decade, so you can hardly blame pro-union or anti-business attitudes for anything. a low unemployment rate perhaps because when people can't find a job in Manitoba they head out west to Alberta right? Not like this is the first NDP government that Manitoba has had you know, the provinces history stretches back a lot farther than you or I have been around for. Don't forget we also have one of the highest percentage of government workers. But I guess to the NDP that is a good thing.

So the question is, who's statement really is that ridiculous? While the province of Alberta may not have the "nest egg" they should, at least the people living and working there should, given the higher wages and lower taxes they've had for so long. I'd rather have the people keep their money than any government be trusted to take care of it. Here in Manitoba we have neither. And the NDP have shown no desire to stop wasting what they do get from us.

And this is why we're hooped. The NDP is as messed up as any party could be and people here are still making excuses for them or holding their nose while they grudgingly say they'll vote PC because Pallister is... Unlikeable? That's the worst you have on the guy? What exactly is Selinger???
-
As a conservative, I couldn't be more pleased. Looking forward to the next election now. If the NDP win again (and honestly it wouldn't surprise me) then we'll know once and for all that we'll be a socialist have-not province forever with no hope of a conservative government. If it doesn't happen in 2016, I can't imagine it ever will.

And someone was wondering if this could have been part of the reason for the postponement of the Heritage Classic. It looks to me like a LOT of the items on that list are about things that would make it difficult to hold events in winter. Plus they are ripping up the concourse next winter? Was it the Bombers that wanted the outdoor game shortly after the Grey Cup, or was that the NHL?
-
I have no idea how much of a fiasco this is, or even if it is one at all. But I will say that some of the items on that list sound suspiciously like nit-picking for the benefit of a lawsuit... (vii) lack of weather stripping of all doors; isn't this something any shmoe could do in 5 minutes? (x) exterior finishes subject to vandalism damage; ?? They put a "please vandalize me" sign on the stadium? (cc) inadequate entrance gate design; doesn't look nice enough? (ff) no power provided for broadcast trucks; Every game has been broadcasted so far, so apparently this was resolved for day 1. (ii) no internal barrier free route between upper level football offices and lower level football operations; Too many doors between Wade Miller's office and the cafeteria? (kk) inadequate storage in building and around site; Seems kind of subjective (oo) poor layout of dock scissor lift controls; and What does this even mean? (pp) no barrier free route from parking to Administrative Building entrance; Or this? Does the staff have a difficult time making it from the parking lot to the offices? I've been there. It's not a long walk.

Does the SI SwimSuit Cover Show TOO MUCH?
max power replied to The Unknown Poster's topic in General Discussion
I don't think it has to do with showing the human body naked. I think it has to do with showing the human body in a sexually explicit pose on the cover of a magazine for everyone to see. Not that anyone buys magazines anymore. The only time I ever see a magazine rack is when I go into a gas station when I'm on a road trip. Going to the beach and seeing people in bikini's, even thong ones, is different then someone who is pulling their bikini's down in a sexual way. It has to do with body language. Oh, and just to make a comment about kids, not all kids are raised on the internet. Parents who give a crap don't let their kids do whatever they want on the internet. Please don't generalize. Don't under estimate the ingenuity of a kid who wants to see some titties. Unless you're really going to clamp down on what the kids are doing and be one of those overbearing never trust them with anything types, where there is a will there's a way. Really though I've seen the cover I don't think it is a sexually explicit pose at all, just pulling down the bottoms a bit, not like the model is spread eagle on the cover or anything. really suggestive isn't even about how much skin is overall shown it's all about how the model is posed and there is no question they'd put the cover model in a suggestive pose even if she was covered head to toe. This is entirely much ado about nothing. That's exactly what I am. It will make my kids that much smarter cause they'll need to outsmart me in order to get their hands on it. I also try to allow my kids to be kids and not grow up too fast like a lot of parents do. I am strict and I could don't what anyone thinks about it. And yes, I'm sure they can find it at a friends house, but I'm not going to encourage it by being a pushover parent who lets their kids do whatever they want. Back to the topic at hand. It may not seem sexually explicit to guys, but to others, someone pulling down their bottoms past the pubic line is a lot more sexually explicit then if she was just standing there. I'm just saying, not everyone is as desensitized as we are. Your kids have already outsmarted you. You might not know it yet, but the amount of time it takes you to figure it out is directly related to how seriously your kids will take you. Good luck! Am I misunderstanding, or are you basically taunting Logan007 because you think his kids have probably already seen explicit things he doesn't want them to? Because thats what it looks like, and that is just a total scumbag thing to do. -
Are you suggesting the Chipmans havent spent their own money in this town? People get wrapped up in the nonsense media spinning. This is what I meant by the unfortunate anti-Chipman sentiment growing. I'm pretty sure you've misinterpreted what he said. I think he means Chipman is one of the only guys in this city who is willing to spend his own money to get things done.

I don't understand why it can't be like the NFL or NHL where teams just can't go over, because it's always being tracked. It seems ridiculous that the Riders have been over so many times and someone only finds out after the season is over and they've won the Cup. What's the point?

Riders release; Bombers sign Dominic Picard
max power replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Lawless made some interesting points yesterday that I choose to believe in order to stay optimistic. He said Patrick Neufeld is Heenan's best friend, Bob Wylie was his coach when he had his most success so far, and a couple other guys are here that he played with in Sask (Picard, Willy). And hey, he should know about Grey Cup host teams breaking the bank to try to win it all and actually succeeding. Maybe he wants to try it again. Just no one tell him that being the Bombers there's a good chance it backfires horribly. -
Who said anything about Claybrooks?!?!? Talk about pulling a name out of nowhere. Claybrooks has been mentioned on this forum several times, often facetiously, however. I didn't notice. Nevertheless, I wont be convinced he's in the running until I hear he's at least been in town to meet management. Fat chance that happens though.

Anyone hear anything about Davone Claybrooks being in Winnipeg for a meeting? I've been hearing from some sources...
