Is it really calling out a player if the coach says our loud that that we need to be better at stopping the run, running the ball better, protecting the QB better, or catching the ball better? It verges on insulting the intelligence of the fans (and media) when O'Shea says that the team has the talent, but just has to brush up on some of the fundamentals of the game a bit.

And I can win the 649 Lottery if I buy a ticket- the odds are roughly the same.

I wish there was reason to be optimistic that this edition of the Bombers had the talent and grit to win another game or two this season, but although reality sucks here, it persists. It you look at the other CFL teams, almost all have made moves during the season to bolster the team and improved or plugged holes well as a result, but all we have done is add Stoudemire from Sask's PR. We have been out-played, out-coached and maybe even out-Gm'ed. The teams we are going to have to face are flat-out better than we are, and our players know it. It seems that the only Bomber who is pissed off at the team's performance is Leggett.

Lawless: Bombers need to sign Ben Heenan
Tracker replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I am not a huge Lawless fan but tend to accept that he spoke the truth about Sleepy Joe letting LaBatte slip through his fingers out of apathy, laziness and incompetence. LaBatte has dropped a couple of hints that his departure from Winnipeg was not inevitable but the result of Mack not making much of an effort to re-sign him, and Mack's track record of valuing and assessing Canadian players seems to support Lawless's statements. Mack's only redeeming virtues were the recruiting of US players- he did bring in some good ones, but not remarkably better than say, Shivers. Moreover, Mack never resolved our weakness at quarterback- that was a spectacular failing of his. -
There is little reason for optimism at this point. Willy has been beaten to a pulp, the offensive line is no better and arguably worse, the defence has finally given up trying to win the game, and there is no help on the horizon. Its sad to think that we will probably end the season having won one game in the last three months of the season.

The gloom and doom predictions about the effect Etch's schemes would have on the defence have come to pass. I. for one, am sick and tired of the "high risk, high reward" defence which has devolved into "high risk, high loss". Etcheverry is not going to change his philosophy, and if the talent level is not there, neither are the results. O'Shea had better figure out whether or not he wants to live and die with this style of defence.

There are certain players who, if they see that there is no one behind them as good as they are or better, will simply slack off, and it seems we have some of those on our team.

Maybe, just maybe, he might be better than Kuale. But then there are people in personal care homes who probably are.

Lawless: Bombers need to sign Ben Heenan

I expect Mr. Heenan to be offered a high paying off-field "job" with a private firm which will allow the Riders to keep under the cap. It has happened before and will happen again. -
GDT - Winnipeg @ Ottawa RedBlacks - 6:00pm CST
Tracker replied to TrueBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
The secondary is about the only thing salvageable from the defence beside one of our linebackers and one or two of our D-line. -
Actually, that response might work well if you're being asked about choosing what live theatre to attend.

With Willy upright, we have a decent chance of a win, maybe even a substantial win. Without Willy in the game, its a toss-up, maybe with an edge to Ottawa. Ottawa has nothing to lose and the Bombers have everything to lose. If the Bombers lose, its a death spiral downwards from here, and we've been down that road too many times. -
Obviously a man of few words.

So people are wired like that though, they look at their own team through critical eyes but gloss over a lot of problems with other teams. See it happen all the time. Its the passion for ones team that sometimes prevents us from being objective at times. We're fans!! That automatically means we are neither objective nor dispassionate. If we were, what would be the point in watching games and yelling at the TV? My wife keeps asking me if I think they can hear me when I'm yelling. I tell her " your dam right." lol. If you yell loud enough they can. Especially if you wear your tinfoil hat.

I sure wish I knew what on earth the coaching staff sees in Kuale that keeps him on the roster ahead of Kromah.

Kenny Ploen likely to return this season
Tracker replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
…..The funny bone…….. …….It's quite a phenomenon, but most Saskatchewanites are missing it. Also worth noting is, the tendon that was torn in Durant's arm, I believe, is the tendon that leads to the humerus bone. Now isn't that ironic? Definition of irony: the opposite of wrinkly. -

Will Ottawa win another game this year?

Will Ottawa win another game this year?
Tracker replied to BomberFan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Have to disagree with you on this- if this was the 2013 Bombers, I could not find fault with your logic, but its 2014. We may be short on talent at the moment, but we have Willy, even if he's banged up and the overall team compares very favourably to Ottawa. This has to be a pride game and we could call it the Futility Bowl. If Ottawa loses it will be no big deal to them, but if the Bombers lose to this sad lot, they deserve to walk back to Winnipeg. What worries me is that Hank could have his one spectacular game of the year against us. -
I'm sure that if a chicken sacrifice would speed up Durant's recovery, the Riders would consider it, even if it meant a drop in the average IQ in the province.

As posed earlier, a Sask trade for Nichols still makes the most sense- Edmonton has pretty much indicated by fawning over White that Nichols has no future there.

Desjardin's action so far have been so laughable and nonsensical that trying to guess what he has in mind is a crapshoot. A rational GM would have kept Glenn at a sane salary and used the extra money to improve the rest of the offense, but here we are. Whatever Dejardins would have gotten in trade for Burris from Sask would have been an improvement over what he has now, and the team's record would not have suffered from Burris' departure. The Glieberguys are long gone but the stupidity lingers on in Ottawa.

Free Press (Fan Vote) Picking All-Time Blue Bomber Greats
Tracker replied to comedygeek's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
It's gotta be Greg Battle- talent, fire, toughness and leadership. Had he not taken that "hiatus" away from the Bombers, there wouldn't even be a discussion.
