  1. Fixed that for you.
  2. A win is a win is a win, and it really doesn't matter how. But, a loss realistically means the end of the season, and a loss to a team which has been a bottom-feeder for most of the season would add insult to injury. Sometimes pessimism is reality and did anyone really expect better than 8 and 10 this year? We're on the right path, but its going to be a long road with rough patches along the way.
  3. I agree with you for the most part, but I pray that the Eskies do beat the Riders, otherwise the ex-pat Rider fans on this forum will be insufferable. Somehow, I think they just might.
  4. Considering how the team has played the past 6 weeks, if Willy is healthy, we can look forward to a dogfight with a 50-50 chance of winning. If Willy is significantly less than at his best and/or we have to go to Brohm or Marve, all bets are off. If we can't beat Hamilton, we are out of the playoffs no matter what the mathematics say and if we lose against Ottawa (shudder), its paper bag time.
  5. That's the reason their feeding Pencer, Goosen and Hinse to be able to come in as backups when injury calls. You still think Pencer is here? What team do you follow? Sorry, meant Swiston. They're frickin' interchangeable in my mind as neither has contributed squat. There's a lot of that going around in the current crop of O-linemen.
  6. There are a lot of great "practice players" who look good until the game is on the line, and then they suddenly seize up or become invisible. I used to play golf with a guy who would smoke me every game until there was a bet on the line, and then his game would fall apart. We've had too few Milt Stegalls around who have the talent plus the killer mindset.
  7. Signing him to be our backup would've been nice. Crompton had the misfortune to be in Edmonton when the circus was at Commonwealth, much like Elliott was here in Winnipeg last year, so in both cases, their real value was unknown.
  8. This is like being offered the best dress at Zellers.
  9. And Dunigan and Dickinson etc etc. Maybe we ought to start a separate thread extolling Willy's toughness, ie:Willy is so tough that: -he doesn't get out of the bathtub to pee -he stirs his coffee with his thumb -he backtalks to his mother-in-law -he doesn't shave-he drives his whiskers in with a hammer and bites them off inside -etc
  10. Well, whatever we're doin ain't workin', so why not shake things up a bit? Seems to me that a scrambling quarterback might give our offense a different look- what's the worst that could happen? We could lose the game, but we've been losing pretty consistently for the past while anyways.
  11. Buck got a lot of praise (mostly in disbelief about how he was still alive) but simultaneously most here shook heads and started taking wagers about how long he would last before his self-preservation instinct kicked in. Mack should have been charged with criminal negligence for keeping him on as long as he did. I wouldn't want to be Buck in 10 or 20 years.
  12. Because we are not going to get a bruise by bruise accounting of Willy's health,we are going to have to accept O'Shea's word that he has refused to lie down and stay down at the first opportunity. O'Shea was a tough a linebacker as ever played in the CFL, so he should know tough. Willy has taken some whacks and bounced right up, the kind that would put Buck on the DL for three weeks. Willy is tough but not unbreakable, and it better be a priority for the Bombers to get better protection for him in the off-season, and I don't mean a better brand of condom.
  13. At the risk of sounding over-confident, it is Hamilton after all, so it would make sense for Brohm to start to see if he can make his former employers sorry they let him go. Keeping Willy in reserve makes sense because the Bombers' chances of making the playoffs is so slim that we might as well see how good the backup(s) are.
  14. Which is precisely why he's on his what? 4th team? This is yet another example (if you needed one) that talent alone isn't enough. Athletes need to have the instinct and the competitive attitude to be at the top of their games.
  15. From what I understand, Willy was a spectator and remains iffy for the next game. Its looking more and more like Brohm will get the start. The defensive tackle we traded for was present at practice.
  16. What is interesting from this same article is " Don't understand what Detroit saw in him"
  17. I sure hope the Bombers paid attention to the Calgary-Montreal game. Hamilton, Toronto and now even Montreal are playing much better.
  18. Maybe the Ottawa team ought to shorten their name to the RB's- it might even get them sponsorship from a fast-food chain.
  19. I was afraid this game was going to be a snooze-fest, but at least the teams have made it into the end zones.
  20. Ya gotta get people away from Rod Black as much as possible.
  21. For a 29-30 year old QB? Don't see it. Yeah. Willy will be a solid starter but Ricky Ray? C'mon man! Absolutely. Willy has the command presence, the good mechanics and the ability to read defenses and react. All he needs is good QB coaching and experience- lets have this conversation next year at this time.
  22. Williams absolutely should have been ejected from last night's game, and ought to be fined and maybe even suspended for that deliberate intent to injure. It was completely dangerous. And yes, Willy may well be the heir to Ricky Ray as the best pure quarterback in the league. If he put on 10-15 pounds of muscle, he would have the NFL all over him in a year or two.
  23. I don't think we've been blown out. We've lost some games by lop-sided scores, but not like last year, which was a disaster from beginning to end. The only way people would have a right to be really let down this year would be if they had fantasies about how good the team was. We are still about six players away from being competitive, and there will be no help for that this year. We are pretty much guaranteed a win in Ottawa but a win against Hamilton is going to have to be fought hard for. If we lose against Hamilton, even beating Ottawa becomes iffy and its all downhill from there.
  24. We don't play Toronto any more so that doesn't matter and the Hamilton game is a home game for the Bombers right? That's a plus there. Unfortunately, home field has not proven to be any advantage this year, so there goes that theory.
  25. Bad news for our side- both Toronto and Hamilton seem to be on the upswing.
