  1. Not sure tho your line will be able to get after him consistently.

Jefferson is for sure a stud, but he will be schemed against and it will minimize him, as well he will be going up against one of the best, if not the best O.T  Olifyioe...or however you spell it.

Steele was an...and stress was again average tackle who was dumped and nobody really wanted him, especially for $ he was asking so for all intents and purposes was a scrap heap pick-up

Minter too, big body, but not dominant plus very out of shape and will take plays off because he is gassed...watch for that tonight.

Also their rotational depth after that is weak and Montreal run game is gonna wear them down and the flood gates will burst.

  2. Not that bad a roster...They have decent depth and quality Canadians and actually I kinda like their O-Line...definitely not worst in the league.

Also I think Durant can make a lot happen with Jackson, Underwood and Cunningham catching balls and Logan too if used properly.

They will also have a running game, so I see them in second in the east easily, and possibly pushing for first, with even double digits in wins especially if Durant plays all 18

  3. Jennings never really did a lot actually against us in any game last year. We seemed to confuse/frustrate him alot and forced him into a lot of bad decisions and turnovers

I'm not really worried about our defense like most. In pre-season we didn't do, or show anything really other than a generic front and basic pass rush, no stunts, no mixing up of blitzes, plus no continuity with guys in and out every snap.

Our d-line just based on talent alone will be better and get more pressure and not be as weak on the run. Mix in the actual schemes, and hopefully some changes/tweaks in the philosophy and we will be o.k

Same with our d-backs..Heath all year, healthy Randle..Year two of Loffler, Johnson is solid and smart, Leggett and Wild would start on any team. As would any of our D-lineman who are confirmed as starters (Westerman/Nevis/Oko)

Really whats the concern?...I'm sure Hall knows where to change and mix things up, and gaurantee Osh would be up his backside if things were pourus like last year bleeding yards.

Another thing to consider, most likely our offence will be on the field a lot more winning TOP most games...helping out the defence keeping them fresh

I see the defense in top 2 points allowed this year, leading in takeaways again and i see 11-12 wins minimum

  4. Been kicking around the boards since original OB days

Played both U.S and Canadian ball...NCAA and went to 3 camps but 8 surgeries on my right knee two of which were reconstructions, and 2 on my left didn't allow me to pass any physicals anymore to the point were i was un-insurable so I decided to join the real world

Used to train with Quincy Williams, James West, Ty Jones and Davis Bovell, and was involved with player development, training and conditioning in San Jose, Oakland and San Fran area.

Worked at regional combines and Pro Days at San Jose State, Sacramento State and a smaller junior college (Diablo Valley)

Thus a bit of insider knowledge about Charlie Roberts and Taman's keen eye and not wanting to bring him here and saying he would never make it due to his size, small hands and no speed...He was recruited basically by Ryland Wickman insistence of him  being brought in to camp.

    That's Booch in a nutshell

  5. There's hits and misses all over, and no GM ever gets everything correct.

No we don't do everything the same as every other team, and every other team doesn't do things the same as each other either, but I would bet 90 percent of the teams do these free-agent camps...cause that's basically what they are, and agents are constantly calling GM's about when and where they are going to be held.

The NFL hold camps too, but not to the extent of CFL teams, tho you'de be surprised where they are paying people to scout players year round..China..Europe...which probably seems like a major waste of money and resources...but hey you never know

I bet 80 percent of players are directed to them via Sports Management Agencies and in a lot of the cases the Agencies pay the registration fee for it...probably something most people didn't realize.

The more avenues you use to find players, and the more stones you overturn, the better chance you have of it paying off. It's just tougher in the CFL as depending on how your roster is built, and how your ratio is constructed it makes it more difficult to fill spots in with the best Imports because you just can't make it wotrk.

  6. Not biased at all...but have been heavily involved in the sport...in Canada and the U.S, and in the business side and recruitment methods, not to mention still have ties with higher ranking management people on many teams so I think that I do have a pretty intimate amount of info into these things, moreso than most people on here.

As well as being involved in player recruitment and development in the U.S  and whats involved in it, and who and where a lot of the deep thinkers are this is not an uncommon practice and it's actually promoted....but hey...opinions vary and people will say/post/vouch for what they believe in or think they know...

  7. You said none of the good teams do it...so I guess Edm/Cgy/BC aren't good teams either.

And the point of holding many is to cover all areas of the U.S to have a broader brush looking for talent. Has nothing to do with Kool Aide drinkers and kind of points a bit too some immaturity issues and a bit of ignorance on how teams scout and allocate budgets for it.

At a lot of these camps there are invited/scouted players too, who are brought there to evaluate against other players...much like a mini camp and it saves the teams money and time in not bringing in a player come training camp just to be evaluated and cut within days. Allows you to bring in the best scouted players for camp.

Teams have been doing it for decades now, it's just more widely known due to the age we live in.

Also the charging of the prospects is to eliminate the chances of every highschool superstar wannabe from coming out and wasting everyone's time.

None of the good teams operate like that.  It's highly unusual that we run totally open free agent camps and charge prospects to come try-out.  It's outdated.  Most teams run camps but they are invite only, with MAYBE a few open ones in densely populated areas.  I'd bet we run the most open camps by far.

It has everything to do with everything!  It's not like receiver is the only position we struggle to recruit for.  Yes we have found some DBs.  Every other position group is basically a desert in terms of our recruiting.

Winnipeg, Calgary, BC, Montreal, Saskatchewan I know for sure with 100% certainty run open camps...so not sure where you get your info from. I pretty sure Edm does too as that is a Paul Jones trait.

Nothing wrong with those kind of camps as many excellent players have come from them. I believe Ricky Ray was found at one..Leggett, as well

The other thing is regarding their offense: they have an incredibly talented group of receivers but unless McAdoo all of a sudden wakes up and realizes he needs to run the football as well AND they all of a sudden have a threat at that position ... you're not going to see them being effective.

Aand they will be behind early and often by a lot...so the run game will be abandoned and teams will just tee off on Glenn or whoever is in...and it's going to be ugly....And then Carter's immaturity and cancer will emerge...again and the team will become divided..implode...and it will be glorious to see

  10. Not to be critical of fans and all...but I have found myself to be browsing a lot there...and wow they are truley delusional with thoughts on depth here..depth there...do they not see they are razor thin and a lot of their starters, both import and non-import prob wouldn't start anywhere else??

Their o-line can't afford ANY injuries right now, and what they project to start right now may not even be totally healthy, or even their projected first stringer coming into camp.

Any injury or even sub-par play and they are in a world of trouble...not to mention if KG goes down or isn't producing.

That defense too...razor thin and a lot of questions...Save for Jefferson what do they really have who teams would be concerned about?

They think Judge is going to be this savior ratio changer, but honestly he has missed all camp, was not a starter in College and mainly was a special teams guy and finished his career with 47 games played and 48 Tackles??..hardly the stats of a super demon.

Factor in trying to figure out CFL nuances, the extra guy, motion, field size, angles, benchmarks on the filed as where to be..where to go..you aren't going to see big impact from him...maybe some more tackles as they will be forever punting. I played both versions and a Will/Sam and a defensive HB has the biggest learning curve, and requires the most adjustment and thinking
