  1. did we not have a Canadian punter in camp last year...who basically got bypassed and ignored as our coaches were all gaga over goofy Ausie style kicks? and then continued with it as our coverage on teams enhanced their suck all yr?

We should have just had Castillo kick long bomb field goals with lotsa hang to allow our coverage guys to get down there as opposed to last year where the returner had usually 20 yards of free space to get to top speed and find the seams before we had anyone relatively close to disrupting the return...let alone make a tackle...we sucked so bad last year...was embarrassing

Shoulda just kept legghio to punt.

I as gonna say the exact thing....and doesnt hurt to have a backup place kicker in case of an injury...a global punter is a waste unless he is something special and consistantly swings the tide of game in your favour (and that Global would be down south anyway)...a DL guy...DB...gives you way more benefits, and an overall better roster

Could part of the issue with special teams last year be the coaching. That coach was let go and miller replaced him. I feel when the Aussie kicker was allowed to, he boomed them but lots of times it seemed like they told him to kick it weird. Could be why the sp teams coach was replaced.

you would think tho with a good HC seeing the issues...he would have made the call to say...make a change....and we didnt....which leads me to think Osh was full on board with that if not part of the main force pushing it...for the most part our teams have been good with the former coach...the ugliness and total dissarray reared up with the addition of the new punter

Easy. And we wouldn’t have the probably 20+ shanks or ultra low yard boots we saw last year.

and the far too many big returns against, and games where we constantlylost the field position game

Getting a productive defensive rotational player on the field for 18 gams, as opposed to a gimmick punter is well worth it

Not sounding like Janarion is in the plans for the team.

i think weith age...and being a yr older for 2025, and the durability issues of lastfew yrs it's probablybthe right move to transition now. Grant is great when he is healthy and playing, but is he at that point with age...and how he plays with reckless abandon just not worth struggling again if he goes out for an extended time?...Always will be one my favorite returners and pound for pound one the toughest...and strongest guys we have seen in recent memory...

Castillo is a fine punter. If you’re gonna have him kick off no point in carrying a punter imo. If we can get a really good global punter and kick off guy that’s solid.
It all pivots on how we draft though. If we can get useful ni/g dl for this year that’ll be huge.

IT'S a huge need that wil go a long way in maximizing how/who we roster....that is if we don't do anything riduculously stupid like last yr

  6. I actually dont think right now Haba is our best DE option to ully replace JJ....And thats a good thing, and not a slight on Haba whom if was allowed to have been rostered all last yr would have really developed....but we went a diff route and wasted a yr basially on allowing several players to develop.

I think this Yrs DI's will be obviously Castillo....a dedicated returner who can actualy pull signifivant and impactful offensive reps (and i think Cruickshank or Smith may be that guy) at first glance, tho will adjust my opinion after seeing some camp up close

Obviously a DE you would hope will be the other and likely a LB ....with Ford back we can go without the extra DB and who knows he may actually win a starting spot on the corner......and if that is the case then we can also rostwr an impact guy who is an import at SAM.....we have no reason or need to go Canadian there if Ford steps up...even if he doent we still have no need to put an extra Canadian there....just because.

What we need to do is scrap the Global punter....and use that spot on a DL guy we take in global draft..there are at least 4 guys in that draft group who can make the roster and have meaningful reps on defence....the craptacular punt results last yr wasn't all on the coach we canned, but moreso on personell...and whatever new scheme they wanted to try, which in my opinion coincided with that constant gadget punting we tried over and over...which failed miserably.....sign a cnadian punter who can kick it consistantly 45 yards...with hangtime...and understands positional punting...it's not hard to do...or let Castillo do it...he's above average at it and would offer us probably better results than what we put up with last yr, and free's up another roster spot for another foot soldier

  7. I'm not overly concerned, but more curiuous as to how we go about the other end opposite WJ and how.who we use as rotation. Withe the Jackson stupidity now off the table thre is a good chance we can get back to a deeper rotation which will do wonders

We know we will be fine with WJ and likely Lawson as the main end and DT....If we choose to go with a canadian starter on dline,

Fox can be very good and isn't a raw rookie, and I ecpect Randall to rely push fo a spot and can be a big load in the middle, and as mentioned really like Woods...so roater allowing if we able to dress those 3...or 2 of the 3 we will be okay and have a way more active interior.

We know Haba can play and should only get better, but I still feel Garbutt is the better and may surprise coming out of camp....that being aid we may even dress 2 import ends to go with WJ....or 3 import interior guys, especially now with Ford back and the possibility he grabs a starters role in the secondary.

We have a few other real intruiging end prospects coming in as well, an hopefully we go defense heavy with our global picks as there are some actual ballers there this yr...so competion this yr is gonna be legit and real....and 1 yr out from a home cup appearance being a possibility is the perfect time to start the partial transition to young hungry talent....Camp should be very intersesting for sure

My main concern is on how we formulate the O-line and who we choose to use, and hopefully it's based on true talent, not a personal like/bias or the old reward system we have used in past yrs.....If guys like Schmeckle...Thomas....Bennett (if he doesn show massive improvement as his age now limits upside) Kolo and Kramdi (good role player and in-situ guy, but not a true front line starter) come out of camp as starters/hevy rotation guys we failed in the off-season, and will be again next spring trying to do an overhaul for 2025 possible home cup appearance. Wedefinately will be a younger, more hungry team, and will have a nice blend of vets...and youngsters

Strev with buck is gonna be nuts. Plop didn’t use Strev with much creativity, he is just that dynamic a player. Team is gonna be a nightmare to prep for.

Yup...it's gonna be interesting if we see a lot of 2 QB sets...or a lot of ZC and Strev rotation...I think it'sthe multiple dual QB looks.....and from looking at what that Thompson brings, can you imagine a set with both ZC and Strev, as well as Thompson with motion in the backfield....or in a bunch set....what are your keys defensively there?...and oh yeah....you have BO lurking there too....All I can see right now is if you are not up on the Bombers...and by a lot in 2nd half/4th quarter....you are gonna be ground out to a fine dust

I don’t think any one has 3 more talented QBs or a better set of QBs going into camp in the league.

Our QB stable is best in league.....people are under valuing Strev big time....and he got handed that "not a passer" tag really for no particular reason other than from what lapo tried to morph him into in his second yr...That signing is gonna prove to be huge.

Barriere as well is as legit a prospect coming to Canada as there has been in yrs...I was shocked we actually got him signed as heard he had quite a few camp prospects, but I think he took the Strev route and didn't wanna be a camp arm, with no real legit opportunity, and deal with NFL polotics...win win for us.

The beauty of this yr is this will help ZC immensely if not for the fact he is not gonna try to play outside himself like last year and have those forced errors...as he has a Legit guy now behind him chomping at the bit....and the heavy rotation we will see is also gonna add to his effectiveness

Havnt really went over the roter much as of late as have been back and forth from Cali, but looking forard to as some have mentioned what Thompson could bring, as well if Grant is not back Cruickshank, who is a lil more polished all around.

My guy tho who is under the radar and should be one to watch is Chris Smith....he's a legit as legit talent as we have brought up in yrs too, and can see him cracking the roster in some capacity...he is also a legit returner and was highly ranked as such for the NFL...legit break away speed and can be that multi tool guy that we tried to turn Mcrae into....But Smith is so much better.

Curious how we approach the global draft, as well as the CIS one...there are 2 legit dline guys in the global pool who I believe can step right in as a rotation piece, as well as contribute on teams...and I still have this feeling we are gonna do some draft day moves. This ys camp is gonna be interesting as there are jobs to be had, and actual talent brought in to take the spots, and possibly realy push some vets

Nothing better than a nil-nil ending with players writhing on the ground all over the field in response to a gust of wind.

Don't get the soccer love either....boring as all heck...like living in Sask...and the images of guys flopping to the ground like a sniper drilled them from the nose bleeds is more than I can stomach...only reason it's considered most pop sport in world is because it's the cheapest to play and costs are minimal...hard pass for me

I personally couldn't think of any CFL players, former/present who played defense that got into trouble for cannabis related "crimes" while also struggling academically, who then became a star or hell even a HOF player. That has never happened.....there are also exactly zero CFL players who currently consume large amounts of cannabis during the season.....that also never happens....I've never personally seen all star players in cannabis shops purchasing products that are meant to be inhaled....not me....no sir....the CFL would never put up with those dope users.

wrong....soooo wrong....hahaha...or is that arcasm?...I'm thinking it may be after rrading it a second time....if so....carry on....I was just speed reading stuff as I am in and out of here fast for most part

Also in regards to measureables and combine numbers/reported numbers...take all with grain of salt...especialy 40 times....Straight line speed with no ball in your hands, or a target you are pursuinf doesn't really mean a lot....what you do with a ball....in and out of breaks...or that extra gear when fluidly running...thats where you look...same with d-line...first step...how and where they place and use hands in regard to that...and who has a real good tilt...thats where u find your speed demons off the edge

Wasn't Osh who made any comment about how we will draft. It was Walters. He stated that "our kind of guy" is one that is physical, tough, and loves to play the game. I see nothing wrong with any of that being a prerequisite for any of our draft picks. If you want to attribute it to Osh, and move the goal posts on what was said have at it though, I don't see Walters as a guy who is leaving talent on the board at the draft. Yea, he had a rough draft last year but so did every other GM. It was an awful draft year.

Winnipeg is also happy that BC lost out on the bidding for BO's services. I guess this is a win win....actually nope...the Lions lost and are apparently giddy about it.

I know it was Walter's and that draft strategy of late has not served us well...Did I say anything about Oshea?...no i didnt....so dont put words in people's mouths...but on the flip side many others as well as you also say Osh isnt soleyrepsonsible for the complaints about poor roster and Practice roster Management, and that it's partly the GM who is brubging in the talent...so you cant nit pick both ways either...I also know for a fact Osh is highly involved in the personell they pick via the draft....rgardless...the strategy of past several yrs of picking guys who dont amoubt to anything but spevial teams usage is flawed...pick the best talent thats left and maybe yu get a guy who actually pushes for a job

Except that hasn’t happened the last couple of drafts.
Picking our type of guy is great, as long as they are an actual viable contributor at a position and not sts guy who doesn’t have the potential or ability to play a position.

I hope we dont pick "our kind of guy".....code for a plugger who will never be seen as a starter calibre let alone viable back up for the most part....and I mean picks 3 thru whatever....not in general before all the dbags start to chime n

I’m pretty sure Walters could blindfold himself and throw darts at a John Hodge mock draft and end up with a better player than Tanner freakin Schmekel

but...but...practices hard...puts in the work....as per Osh...well wtf?!?...any player who isnt should be kiked to the curb

  14. ZC didnt take a step back...the extra hits...and appearance of being slower to process...was his stubborn nature toget it all in one shot....he went away from the more surgical carving up of teams and reaping the rewards of the bigshots being there from teams trying to adjust...he gets back to that he will be just fine...his seeming to have happy feet, and being spooked in the pocket was a result of that bad tendancy he got in...and is easily fixed.  He then a lot of times foced things he shouldn't have, and you know damn well both he and coaches know this...easily fixed...and sure has been already.

Brown...still not sold on him, and we are just fine with ZC and Strev...probably even better. Strev when his time comes...will turn out to be the better starter than Brown when all said and done...Wish him well, but he in  pretty precarious spot in OTT and can see a world of ugly coming from there...and not all his fault but don't think he has the chops to over come it...and can see him getting smacked arouind a lot there...frustrated....and forcing things and looking very much like a first time starter

I also am on the side of due to his build/body type he takes a beating and it will affect his play...and likely injury woes.....guess we shall see

Ford is raw as a teams guy mostly returning kicks in college and won’t out do exume who got drafted based on teams ability alone and has been doing it at a high level for 4 seasons. Hallett wasn’t our best teams guy at any point in his time here. Clements cut his teeth in this league as a strong teams guy.
We spent the last 3 drafts picking teams guys with little to show for it.

our best teams guys consistantly last year from what I saw was Kelly..Cole...Cadwalder...Bolo....Gauthier....I exclude Exume from his work after getting here because he is gone now and is a under appreciated big loss

And yup...draft strategy failed last several drafts now for quality team depth, and we need to shift the mindset.....I have said before you can make anyone a good teams player....you cant make a good teams guy a useful rotational guy/back-up

If we keep all these picks this yr, focus should be on the best players on the board and not just these one trick pony guys, as it has severly depleted our quality of depth...

I don't see Murphy amounting to much here, or really offering us much either other than a guy to stand on the sidelines....and not see a rep for the next several yrs if e keep him...now looking back at last few seasons mybe he does have a purpose as we have shown a penchant for dressing guys who didnt even need thier shoes tied up
