Sure looks like he went a little low on Streveler.

Maybe 4-5 years ago when she was apart of the Bomber organization... she's long gone from being in that spot though.
My bad...I thought she was employed by the team up until the end of last season.

I don't understand this. She used to work for the Bombers so she knows the wives and girlfriends?
Yes the ones that lived in town during the season. Which I believe Holly Jefferson did last season along with their young daughter.

Kim might have have the inside scoop. I know she no longer works for the club but given her prior position with the club. She probably built some close friendships with the players wives and girlfriends. Especially those that were living in town with their husbands/boyfriends.

I heard we rolled out the red carpet for him and his family at the Human Rights Museum... complete with monogram tissues to wipe their tears
I think Winnipeg has got this!!
You forgot the free Jeannies cake.

Why do I think that WJ will announce his decision tomorrow via some type of cryptic tweet.
-
Walter's understands it. You can never have enough quality Cdn O linemen. It's amazing how this franchise has turned around from the days we struggled to find enough quality starting Cdn's.

If there's a team out there that will grossly over pay for WJ. Its the Argos. .
-
Happy for Streveler but I think we’ll be seeing him in the blue and gold again.
-
So the Winnipeg Sun is reporting that it'll take north of $250k to sign Willie Jefferson. That's alot of money. Worth it mind you but damn that's going to hurt. WJ came to play when it counted but there were also a handful of games where he wasn't the same dominating player that he was in the play offs. Apparently he as paid $210k last year so really a $50k - $60k bump should get it done.
But will that hurt us from possibly signing Streveler should he go to the NFL but get released at the end of camp? Ditto to the other defensive players that also went to the NFL.
Do we pay him the extra money? Of course we do and hope Walters can do his magic and maybe sign 1 of our possible NFL returnees.

Team game, but the defence carried the team to the final win..... I think they don't need to do much on O, but have to make sure the D doesn't drop off.
Whatever that takes, D line, or D back.
They seem to have a lot of good championship level players already. Both sides of the ball.
But getting Collaros is great.
I agree but the defence has taken a few big hits this off season. It's up to Walter's and the scouting staff to replace the players we've lost so far.
-
Holy crap Batman! Collaros was a major factor in getting to and winning the GC. We've seen that you can't win without a great QB and the money and structure of the contract is a moot point. Smarter minds than any of us who are familiar with the minute intricacies of CFL contracts are OK with it. So why are we questioning it?

Isn't this what most of us wanted>? So why the concern? Injuries happen in football and you can't predict them. Look at BLM last year.
I think this is the biggest signing of the off season and if we didn't sign him with the huge upfront money. Some other team would have. I'm glad it was us and not the Argos.

So, the player's agent goes to the press to complain about something that had not been public before he bitched, and somehow that means that the Bombers are throwing said player under the bus? I don't think that phrase means what you think it means.
So based on the recent feedback I may have misread the situation. I thought Matt found out thru the media that the Bombers were prioritizing the signing of Collaros.
But what happens if we don't sign Collaros? Do we go back to Nichols? Or do we go a completely different direction?

And how have the bombers thrown anyone under the bus?
Essentially by telling you starter from last year that they don't want him. The WBB organization is usually pretty good at keeping this stuff out of the media.

There’s also plenty of reason for them to tell Nichols ahead of time.
Mainly, respect towards a human who has contributed a lot to our franchise.
lots of people forget that while the club is a business, when your business is people you really need to always remember that respect goes a long way.
(I know you know all this, just couldn’t find the post you replied to so I quoted yours instead)
Do the Bombers feel confident in their ability to sign Collaros? They must because it's not how they normally operate. They don't publicly throw their players under the bus.

Pierce is probably looking for a QB coach.
Is that how it works? Is the QB coach picked by the OC or the HC?

That reads like we don't have our offensive staff in place. Maybe Buck's not the OC choice like most folks are expecting.
I thought it was a no brainer. Guess the team has other ideas.

Huff had all the power here. BLM knows he didn't play up to his contract last season and he knows his contract is handcuffing the team. It could have been worse for BLM as a trade was certainly possible and was being discussed. I doubt they'll trade him know eventhough this restructured contract would make it even easier to trade him but I'm sure Huff gave BLM some assurance that that wouldn't happen.
Not sure this makes it any easier to re sign Arbuckle but Huff's going to do everything possible to do so.

If QB is your need then it can help out immensely. Comparing Edmonton is not an apt comparison. Harris was not making them better at QB because they had Reilly the year before. Also, QB was never Edmonton's problem, it was defence and poor discipline.
It didn’t help BC.
