My thoughts exactly. There are times when a coach's stubbornness is simply beyond reason.

LeFevour was good for Hamilton last year.  Without him they don't make the Grey Cup.  IMO, he's the guy who finally convinced Austin to take the shackles off his mobile QB's.  They signed a stable of scrambling QB's and ran an offence early in the season that forced them to exclusively pass from the pocket.  LeFevour made a ton of plays with his legs and arm when he got a chance and the TiCats scheme did a 180 by the time Collaros came back.

Didn't notice Maxx Forde was on the list now. Must have skipped over that the first time.

That's a huge addition to the draft class. I'm not going to say he's a lock for top 10 at this point because there's a ton of talent, but he's up there.

Alondra Johnson's kid is a LB for the University of South Dakota, he'll probably get a combine invite too because he just got approved for Canadian status.

The NFL has their version of TCF too.  Before camp even starts or the last day of it, it just seems unlikely to me that he survives all the roster cuts he will need to to stick with the Ravens this year.  No PR eligibility left, and there will be players of similar quality that the Ravens can sign for cheaper.  Unless he had a helluva offseason training, we're probably firing up another Bilukidi thread in about 6 months.

Grigsby is, at best, a guy who will have a few offensive plays and will see only limited playing time.

You think they keep all of them around? Unless Grigsby got some balls surgically added in the offseason he's not as good as the other two guys.

If Hurl is such a strong prospect for a starting LB spot, why did the Riders trade Ricky Foley for Emry (with concussion issues) instead of electing to keep both Hurl and Foley?
No way Saskie trades RF if they thought there was any way Hurl could play full time.

I'm worried that Hurl is penciled in as the starter and that they won't bring in an FA competition for the MLB spot.  Hurl would then only have to beat a CFL rookie for the starting spot.  Still might be a huge problem for him based on last years play.

That Mulumba draft all the top guys gave the NFL a try basically and Mulumba was one of the ones they didn't think had much of a chance to stick, but he did. Worthwhile gamble IMO.

Really Macks biggest failing was hiring 2 duds at head coach.

Doublezero reacted to gbill2004 in Bombers 2015 ratio
Kyle Walters has set up the Bombers to have some nice non-import (National) depth in 2015, to the point where we'll be in a position to possibly start 8 Canadians, where the requirement is only 7. At the least coach Oshea will be in a position to have some solid options. Here's how I see the options breaking down:

On offense, Bombers will likely start 5 Canadians:

WR (2) - Kohlert, Feoli-Gudino, Bastien, Carter, Goodrich
OL (3) - Greaves, Picard, Neufeld, Goossen, Everett

My take is that after Kohlert and JFG, the depth at WR is a little thin, but as long as one of Bastien, Carter or Goodrich can step in and be an adequate replacement in case of injury, we'll be fine. Each of these three guys has nice upside, and could be legitimate starters, but it'll likely take a year or two for them to develop. I'm making the assumption here that Morley will retire. The depth at OL is solid, and with the likely addition of another Canadian OL from this years draft, we're in a good situation here.

On defense is where it gets interesting. I like what Walters has done in giving the coaching staff 3 solid options as defensive starters, although we will likely only start 2 here:

    DB (1) - Bucknor, Jones
LB (1) - Hurl, Newman, Briggs, Sherman (heard Sherman might transition to safety this year)
DL (1) - Thomas, Brown, Richardson

The extra Canadian depth on defense gives the coaching staff options, and additional flexibility in case there's an injury at Canadian WR. It's quite impressive what Walters has done with increasing the quality and depth of our Canadians over such a short period of time.

In addition, if you add up all the names listed above, that's 19 Canadians and there's a requirement to have 20 on a game day roster. I didn't even list guys like Pondbriant, Liram, Cronk and Fitzgerald. Some really nice National depth.  No longer a need to have guys like Stephan or West on the roster.

Still the same problem we had last year, IMO. No legit 7th Canadian starter. If Hurl can't be an every down starter then we are in trouble.

Lol yes I read it but I didn't need to read it because I have my own opinion on our Canadian situation thanks. And we don't have 8 legit starting Canadian options, we have 6. Hurl or Newman MIGHT be capable of starting but they haven't shown that yet. Thomas and Brown are rotational players at best. Having enough Canadians to start is again coming down to hope, because its definitely not a sure thing. God forbid Matt Bucknor or Rory Kohlert get injured because we will be in some trouble.
Our Canadian depth has not improved by as much as you seem to think. It's still in rough shape.

Now your bias is shining through. Lots of the players on this team were brought in by Joe Mack. This regime has a lot of ground to make up to even come close to the level of recruiting Mack did. You hate Mack though so I just expect you to downplay the things he did do welll.

This is total speculation but I wonder if Willy's reluctant to sign on long term with Bellefeuille running the offense?
MB's coaching and our OL play nearly got him killed last year, maybe he's waiting to see if that's going to improve.

Will never understand why they didn't do more, early in the season, to make an effort to improve the running game .. best friend of a young quarterback is a solid running game .. takes pressure off of him and keeps him from taking unnecessary shots.

I admire Brohm, who as a high NFL drafted player, must have gotten a lot of money.

as a Heisman winner It probably would have been fairly easy for him to quit playing and slide into a College coaching job, in the school where he is a hero, or a media job, when his NFL career didn't go well.

Yet he obviously wants to play football, and keeps hanging in there, under less auspicious circumstances than he probably expected back then.

I too thought he ran the offence crisply and effectively when he got a chance. too bad he got injured so quickly;  Who knows, we might have had a quarterback controversy.

    I'm Glad he's back.

DB Johnny Adams (Michigan State) has NFL experience.
He might have been recommended to us by former Bombers personnel director Bill Polian, who talks about Adams in the vid link below.
Looking forward to seeing Johnny Adams at TC

I was not overly impressed with O'Shea's management of resources last year, especially during the 7 game skid.  Backup QB's should have gained more playing time during this period.  Cotton/Grigsby took too long to resolve and Romby should have remained parked on the PR roster throughout IMO.  Hopefully O'Shea acquires more flexibility in his thinking than he exhibited in his rookie year.

Because of Brohm's quick reads/release, at times I wondered last season whether he was a better fit for the offense than Willy. While he should have more time this year with the improved OL, Willy needs to work on speeding up his reads and release.

The game where Brohm injured his thumb he looked very impressive. You are correct in that he isn't very mobile, but he had quick accurate reads.

Proof is in the pudding. Like Doug Brown said, coach Buck Pierce is going to look like a genius if the run game dramatically improves.
Let's hope Drew Willy learns to make his reads quicker and gets rid of the ball faster. If not, then even a top tier OL won't help.
