The defence held a team to 19 on the road....They were far from great, but holding a team to 19 SHOULD be enough to win....

The special teams gave up no huge returns, Castillo is playing fantastic and Case secured the ball and overall had really good averages...they didn't do anything to cause us to lose...

The refs were bad...but bad both ways...we probably overall had worse calls, but they didn't cause us to lose..

The offence didn't score a TD, didn't even really threaten too....threw a terrible pick, and added a fumble....other than Brady no one seemed jacked up....100% this lose is on the offence.....

The D was able to bring pressure on Patterson. Kyrie Wilson had a good game. I thought Willie J did too. Bighill not so much. BA was a step behind as usual. Nichols missed an important tackle. Holm stumbled at an unfortunate moment. PI against Ford was a joke.

Posted in wrong thread already.....but here goes...

    2-5

That is the record......strictly on merit.

With the injuries.....we have a combination of guys not ready for prime time.....and others (vets) either under performing or.......just well past their time.

Also a coaching staff that appears unable to maximize the current roster, make in-game adjustments,  or simply lack the stones to face making the required retool of this roster.

Bombers currently resemble the Yamato's last voyage.  Gaping holes at QB, MLB, S, C, OG DHB, KR...

For anyone wondering about some sort of succesion plan, last couple years.......turns out there was absolutly no plan.    Chickens coming home to roost now.   Performance now resembles a lot of the bad ole days......

Complete failure of management from the GM/HC

It's not like we didn't warn them :)

  2. Stats-wise Bombers have the worst offensive production in the CFL - 1/3 into the season. It's reminiscent of the Matt Nichols game-manager era where the O was putrid but at that time at least we won some games on the strength of solid defence. Thing is, our defence in 2024 is not as good as during the Nichols era - and looks especially vulnerable against the run. Calgary's O is only slightly better than Bombers stats-wise but they have given up the fewest sacks in the league. So unless Collaros really improves his ability to complete a pass under pressure, (ie gets rid of the ball quicker) and until our defence suddenly gets stout in the box, Calgary should win this one. Sincerely hope Bombers go out and play serious bully ball to prove me wrong. Go Blue!

  3. Grant came back from high ankle injury last season a few weeks too early. So it looked like he had lost a step - had trouble making all the cuts. But the whole return team sucked as well. I like that Argos have tried to work him into the offence from time to time. He wanted that in Winnipeg but the O is much less creative than Dinwiddie's schemes. Bombers had Grant running up the gut in traffic - that's how he got hurt. So dumb.

  4. Fun to watch Strev at QB and great to get the W! Hope he's not too banged up. Bombers should start him next game as he gives the club a spark that's absent with Collaros who's on the decline. Brady starting to get going. O-line played like they're starting to feel like a unit. Wille J had a few moments, as did Kyrie. Is it enough? Prob not. The 2 cornerbacks and Holm give me hope. Man, they're good. Castillo = Money! Speaking of which, one of my kids won the 50/50. Whoop Whoop!! :)

Strev is a beauty. I for one hope he has nothing but success here.

100% ~ Fans love him. I happened to be in the stands in 2018 when Streveler showed up for his first practice. Something special about him, the casual the way he bounced the football off the turf watching and waiting to take reps but you could tell the dude was wired. Hopefully he remembers he doesn't have to do it all himself.

Oh yeah he does lol , and he was last year and the year before a lot too. The escapability is gone now, that’s the difference.

Noticed after his ankle got buggered in the 22 WF he started turtling in the pocket a lot more.

Self-preservation mode vs warrior mode. Maybe you can expect that at age 36 with Zach's history of injuries. Reminds me last couple of years of Matt Nichols. Could've made plays ... but didn't. I'll never forget one play near the end of Nichols time here. 3rd & 10 game on the line. Nichols drops back and the middle opens up. He runs up about 5-6 yards into the open field then spots a defender moving towards him. He could have got the first down easily but saw potential contact - slid down at 7 yards. Game over.

Yeah and IF we let Collaros walk after he won a  second cup how would that have looked? Very short memories around here but that is the prerogative of being a fan i guess.

Who said let him walk? The 3 year deal is/was the problem. Not necessary when you can go 1 by 1 or 1 + 1 with 50% guaranteed in the 2nd year as per CFLPA. Of course it's easy to see this in hindsight.

That’s just it. Ottawa is in a better place moving forward at QB than most of the league.

BC- Adams probably is at his ceiling, Proukop isn’t going to take the next leap.

Calgary- McCheese and his even fatter backup.

Edmonton- MBT is what he is. Ford could improve I guess.

Us- Hinges on Strev. Not much of a future with Collaros.

Sask- Same as here minus Streveler.

TO- I think Dukes is quite impressive given the situation. I can’t stand Kelly, but he’ll probably be back too. They’ll be ok at QB for a while.

Montreal- They’re  in good shape as well.
Has anyone mentioned that Fajardo’s play improved after a year of working with Calvillo? I think that’s been very overlooked.

Hamilton- Powell might be good, completely unproven. BLM is more cooked than Collaros.

Then Ottawa with Brown and Crum. If I’m building a CFL team from scratch, I’ll take their QB room over anyones right now. Problem there is, the rest of the team being scratch.

We'll have to see how Dru Brown fares in Ottawa. I was among those who badly wanted to keep him over Collaros. But that 3 year deal Walters gave Collaros in 2022 made keeping Brown in Winnipeg next to impossible. He wanted (and deserved) to be a starter somewhere. If I'm Walters (or whoever is GM next season) I'd make getting Brown back in Blue & Gold a priority in 2026. Depending on how Strey does, of course.

I wouldn’t say so really. They have lots of guys with speed.
They need a good route runner with long arms. Someone who can win 50/50 jump balls and come back to get under those under throw-by-design deep shots.

Lucky is/was good at taking short stuff and making the first guy miss, or burning guys in single coverage.

He’ll do more than Wilson if still able to run, but he’s not gonna turn the offence around.

I'd say no to Whitehead, who had dropsy. The thing about Schoen and Lawler, Demski Woli etc is that they routinely make amazing grabs that make our QBs look good. If you look at most of the pass attempts by Winnipeg's QB's, more than 50% are off-target requiring voodoo magic by the receivers just to reel that ball in.
