Brown looks a lot more comfortable in the pocket tonight than Collaros did early in this one.

Collaros scrambled into pressure a couple times including that mess he got into the last play.

To be fair, Zach took a high hit in the first series that the refs missed. Took a bit of an ouch to the collarbone by the looks of it and now a knock on the noggin to boot. But I agree that Dru Brown looks pretty good so far. Not surprised. He will be in demand next season if he gets to FA status.

  2. Keeping Zach Collaros clean is key tonight. Lions sacked him 7 times in the prior game. You can BETT they'll be coming after him again. A couple of times Betts was past Yoshi and on ZC before Hardrick got out of his stance. But the whole O line looked old, slow, and basically shell-shocked. Hence the adjustment to add extra blocking help at the FB position. Look for Lions O to pick on Winston Rose - hopefully he's the all-star we want him to be. Missing Janarion Grant and Mike Miller on Special Teams. Kyrie Wilson back is huge. It'll be a tight win ... Bombers by 4 points! Go Blue!!!

I would love to see QB pressure stats because Collaros is having much less time in the pocket as years past, as per the eye test, which is leading him to throw early/force throws at times(hello Ottawa 4th quarter pick-6). Also, if runs for no gain/negative yards could be found i would wager Oliveira is likely nearing his last seasons totals already. If you take out the 4th quarter last game he probably had like 20 yards on the ground. We gouged them in the 4th because they were gassed. The majority of Oliveira's yardage has been from late in games this season. I'd rather not wait until the 4th for our running game to get going, thats the type of thing that will make you one-dimensional. The run game push from the o-line has been largely non-existent this season for large chunks of games. You can argue the stats seem the same, but the eye test is very much different from previous seasons. The o-line needs to sack-up. If they dont it could be just a matter of time until something happens to Zach and/or teams make Oliveira a non-factor.

I agree with this. One reason for the seeming Q4 success is because FB Damian Jackson was in as an extra blocker for some plays in the 4th Q vs Hamilton - evidence the braintrust believed the O-line could use a little pass pro and run block help at that point. Same way Bombers used LB Wade Miller to clear traffic on offence back in the day.

  4. ZC has the best passer rating in the league right now. Bombers also have given up 13 sacks - only Elks and Riders are worse in that category. Most, but not all of those can be pinned on the Oline falling asleep at the switch. Hopefully against Redblacks whatever has been ailing Bombers pass protection can be remedied. And hopefully Zach can get rid of the ball faster in the pocket, or they scheme to move the launch point to rollout. Go Blue!

Grant’s injury not at the worst time, allows them to flip that DI spot to the secondary and have someone like 15 return punts, McCrae can probably handle kickoffs and missed FGs.

Put Parker or Rose on if they are ready.

What is the extent of Grant's injury? I mean I saw the play and it was an extremely goofy call by Buck, but I don't see JG listed on either the one or six game list. CFL says ankle. It is shocking really that no one in the news media actually asked O'Shea at the presser today if Grant was going on the injured list or whether he was day-to-day.
