Grant missed most of the last 2 seasons, but yea when he was in the game he was dynamite.

Mike O'Shea said that pound-for-pound Janarion Grant was undoubtedly the toughest player on the squad. Of course no one is irreplaceable. But guaranteed whoever is returning kicks this season will not be in Grant's class. I feel bad for him because the ankle/foot injury that cost him was a really dumb play call - a handoff that had him running a counter up the gut into heavy traffic.

Even in pass pro it is soo much more important at T than guard. You can cover for a guard pretty easily too with a good T or C.

the difference between grant, and every one else was gigantic. I don’t think we need some one to make us forget grant, I’m not expecting a multi td kr this year. Maybe no kr tds. But at least we need some one cover teams have to work to cover, catches the ball clean as much as possible, makes the right decisions, and gets north south asap while gathering respectable yards.
Couple of the guys we brought in with kr experience looked good in college. So I’m hopeful. Personally, a kr/wr who can run some sweeps opposite of Demski and start at wr while returning is the dream. Saving a roster spot, especially a di is as good as being game breaking.

we could spell a starting wr in coverage some with guys like ford. I’d love to see clercius and MCI get reps at returning kicks too.

This return vs Sask was such a beaut. Did it on his own, amazing:

we essentially replaced the best back up QB with a new...better best back up....abd the prospect behind him seems solid at first glance....Camp will be the true indicator...upgrade tho from 2023

I don't think Yosh is a majhor loss per say....As long as we can find a compatent replacement who can play we should be fine...Lofton should be that guy worst case, as we develop the heir apparent longterm guy...and with Eli back...Dobson hopefully with more polish to him, and the huge upside of Wallace and still having Kolo, I see no worries there really either...maybe some gelling at first....but with Bryant and Neuf next to whomever wins the spot they have on field coaching right there....and with some guys in the pipleline again...and the possible flyer on Manu....we upgraded I believe to a meaner group...younger...with upside

Replacing Jackson with the actual Canadian RB/FB who actually has a real good skill set...huge upgrade on multiple levels...especially for roster...upgrade there

Like the dline talent coming in....Was never sold or a fan of Walker, so I think we will be better with whoever is shotgun with lawson....and some intruiging guys competing for the end spots....Jackson's loss hurts, but bang for buck there and not knowig how many games we would get...with a guy on other side of 30...I like the route we take....camp will be the big battle and indicator there....we have some talent....and now with Jackson gone we can actually deploy it...so in my opinion the defensive rotation will be better all around, especially with Ford in the mix and the ability to if we want at times to go all Import on the line, and have some unique schemes with who we put out there.

Db's not concerned with whatsoever...we have a proven track record of plug and play there......

LB's is the one spot a little curious, dare I say concerned.....No issues with Wilson....and at SAM we have options....I'd like to see Cole take that over and Ford win a Corner spot....we also have a couple interesting guys coming in who may blow doors off and take that role...Not sold...nor liking Kramdi there...adequate atbest doesnt cut it for me, and he will not develop into a true difference maker, so why extend that experiment...we dont have to, so why? and if we want that Canadian then Ford offers way more...more upside, and a way better athlete...so at moment to me Linebacker is the big question mark to be filled

Receiever...nothing to be said there...we know what the main 4 bring....we have some intruiging options to replace Bailey and we replenished our Canadian backups....the new kid with more upside than Bolo I believe and I was one of the bigger BOLO tire pumpers here...plus he is an experienced teams guy...BOLO wasnt...we made him learn that spot

RB's...Nothing needs to be said there, and now with Ilke we have 3 solid Canadians and a actual guy to do the full back role who actually can do more than just get in the way....and don't sleep on Smith....If he takes Mcrae's role, as well as win that returnr spot...Huge upgrade....and he could make real noise with some offensive reps...true game breaking skill set there

Camp will be interesting and a true camp this yr with guys competing and jobs to be taken....

Special teams? Who will step up to make me forget about Janarion Grant? Losing him gonna hurt. Best returner we had in Blue & Gold for a very long time.

I've read before where posters here like you & others have said that it appears to YOU that Collaros is taking longer to process his decisions to get the ball away quicker. Have you ever played qb in the CFL or any level of pro ball? Are you a qb coach? Can you read CFL defenses to know that Zach is actually processing things slower? How can you actually say that other than you're just a fan & don't know the difference between a dig route & a curl? Just askin'?

What's the point in getting personal about it? You can't prove my observations are invalid. This is a fan forum and I have an opinion about who gets the ball off quicker, Collaros or Brown. It is a valid opinion based on what my eyes are telling me. And you are welcome to disagree. If you did disagree I would respect your opinion rather than resort to an ad hominem argument. I guess we could run a stopwatch off game tape and test my observation. No, I have not played QB or coached at the pro level. I would describe myself as just a fan. Although I have lined up as a player in the CFL. In the backfield. And I know how to run a route. And that's all I'm gonna say. Since you asked.

We'll see how his game evolves in time after a couple of rounds on the 6 game

Conjecture. For sure both Collaros and Brown have benefitted from Winnipeg's development of a solid Oline and a scheme that offered pretty dang good QB protection. But how Brown might fare elsewhere is irrelevant to the opinion that we should have kept him here. The size difference between the 2 QBs is also irrelevant. After all, Doug Flutie was 5'!0 180lbs - bigger does not equate to more success or durability. For sure Zach is a warrior who, as you say, has had to sit out for extended periods due to serious injuries. The fact that he has suffered so many injuries - especially hits to the head - underscores my basic concern about him. After all, Collaros missed games in 2015 and 2016 with the torn ACL - not clear he ever recovered from that 100%. In 2018 he was sidelined for several games due to a head injury and he did not play for most of 2019 due to head injury. We have a valiant QB who is 35 and needs to avoid hits at all costs as they could be career ending. To me, it appears that is taking him longer to process things out there post-snap. Brown definitely got the ball away quicker than Zach and was more accurate and threw with velocity. That's how it appeared. Plus Brown knew Buck's offence. That's why I'd have kept him. But we didn't. Glad we've got Strevy though.

  6. I really wish Bombers had been able to keep Brown and had somehow dealt Collaros. But I guess Zach is at the point in the life of his contract, with possibly some guarantees, that made that impossible. The problem is that Zach is 35 and has developed happy feet - starts to scramble early and throws with a hint of desperation. Brown looked more poised when he came in last season and definitely throws a more accurate ball. It'll be interesting to see how pass pro goes this season with changes on the Oline. There will be tweaks and adjustments, no doubt. Hoping Collaros can stay healthy but ... I think Strevy could end up starting for us sooner rather than later.

  7. Since we're talking memorabilia, here's a jersey that claims to be a game worn Leo Lewis 1958 Grey Cup game jersey. There's a letter of authentication but it means nothing, just says that the jersey looks like one Lewis wore at the time. There is no provenance outlining the chain of ownership etc so I'd be wary. I think it was for sale, or one like it, couple years ago for around the same asking price. Looks cool though:

I think it's time to face the facts....the argo's have a 'loose cannon' on their club ...The history of this guy suggests it could be a mental issue....Besides the moral obligation that the team has , there now exists a criminal element as well....Until this goes through the courts a suspension of this player should be brought forward by the league ....Anything less will be seen as inaction.....I'm afraid Kelly has dug himself a hole and his history suggests this kind of thing 'could' happen again....The league going silent on this mess is deafening

Are you suggesting criminal harrassment? I'm no lawyer but that is a form of harassment that crosses a very specific line. I don't know that that has been alleged and don't believe the cops are involved in this yet ...

Janarion always waits to sign. IF the Bombers want him back I am sure he will sign when he gets around to it. JG is the best returner in the game but I have serious doubts about his durability. I would think the Bombers also will want to ponder that.

He got injured on a dumb play call last season, IIRC. Looked like a high ankle sprain plus getting stepped on, on a carry up the gut. He's a receiver-returner not an inside ball carrier. Very unfortunate. He re-habbed forever and wasn't the same after.

I wonder if Grant isn't brought back and they go with a kid like Aron Cruickshank ?

Grant was late to sign last year, almost at the FA deadline if I recall. He might think he's worth more than the club is willing to offer. Esp after such a long rehab last season Bombers might be hedging their bets. He's such a dynamic returner though. The whole kick return squad was wonky last season and you wonder if that's partly Boudreau? Hope #80 is back.

Looks like a well rounded dynamic threat. Running, catching, returning. Pro day had some great numbers including a 4.4 40, 10’ broad jump 37” vert 15 reps. Great quickness and agility numbers too. Stood 5’8 195.
I love the north south running. All he needs is an angle and he isn’t trying to Keith stokes it. Hits the hole really fast. Very smooth acceleration with a nice top gear. Flashes some good hands, and I love the physicality too. Very grant Esq is being small but deceptively strong. Don’t expect a guy like that to bounce off people or push the pile but he takes people by surprise. I love this as a returner, back or gmc multi threat guy. Great camp prospect.

This tells me Bombers are focused on trying to re-sign Schoen rather than Oliveira. Of course of Brady will take the hometown discount that's fine. But I can see an offence with an IMP RB, and others running the ball too - Augustine, Streveler, Demski these all are legit weapons to haul the rock.

Was Pickett released early?  FA hasn't started yet, thought Argos had to wait until this weekend to make a counter offer?

Wondered the same. Can a player just accept an offer from another club during the so-called tampering window? I thought Argos would have a chance to match or counter ...

I wouldnt want him..o.ne trick pony and easy to neutralize him...and he wants big cash

I'd rather do a 1 yr on Oakman, or snag Hendrix for multi yr deal. both will come in at prob half of what Betts will get

Betts has a Nat passport though, and if Bombers decide not to overpay for a RB, as they have done before, I could see them going after Betts for the ratio edge.

Not dumb IF you're aim is to retain ol vets so you can stick with the status quo....and that's what this smells like....Big hearted Osh ...but that ain't smart football

Depth signing at this point. No guarantee he'll pass the training camp physical. And if he does? Can Jordan Younger stand up to MOS? Because, sorry to say it, but with both Jake and Biggie aging out - there's a real vulnerability inside the box.
