Correct, it was supposed to be one of those situations where we re-signed him when he was healthy. If we ever wanted to go with three Canadian receivers he would be a good guy to have on the roster.

Around the League: 2019 Off Season
Blueandgold replied to SpeedFlex27's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
the NFL still needs the CFL.. they don't want to be considered a monopoly and i'm sure they know that the AAF/XFL won't survive long enough to be relevant. -
Smart move... guys gets a fair extra games in and some bucks during the off season then he can come back to the CFL. Then he can do it all over again with the XFL next year.
-
I can't believe so many people here thought this joke of a league was a threat to the CFL or worth watching. Adios AAF(what kind of name is that) didn't watch you and won't miss you. I know they haven't officially folded (March 28, 1:42 p.m. central time).

My interest in the game is beyond zero... why the hell would I want to watch Nathan Peterman play for a half? -

Big no to this. Don’t they remember how flags were getting thrown for the slightest touch of the QB in slow motion?! Yuck. I’m not impresssed with the CFL this off season. -

A Canadian QB should be counted as one of the starting Canadians if they start. It gives a team even more of an incentive to develop and play guys like Brandon Bridge. Guys like Jordan Yantz had the talent to they just don't get the same opportunity at the pro level. But at the same time, i'm not sure that forcing teams to develop a Canadian QB is the way to go. -

I’ll tell you why I’m not in favour of reducing the ratio, there’s already good Canadian players (Simonise & Peterman for example) that Already don’t get much of an opportunity to play. I’m not sure why we would want to diminish that further. -

I would’ve been fine with six, as the talent will be too diluted if we get a tenth team. Five is just too low of a number though, it appears they want to take the “Canadian” out of the “Canadian Football League”. -
CFL Considering Resurrecting "Regional Player Protection"
Blueandgold replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
So we would basically be able to claim a guy like Geoff Gray, Nic Demski or Anthony Coombs one per year without having to draft them? -

CONSQUENCES -
If the XFL is smart, they'll pay arena league level salaries and position themselves as the third tier novelty league they should be.

Why would we trade for the Solo contract? He's going to have to take a paycut wherever he goes and he'll ultimately be released. -
I would rather have Bridge with a competent OC.
-
If the AAF was smart, they would let guys play in the CFL and double up when their season concludes. Yes there’s a risk of injuries, but it would also make the league more appealing. Kind of like how Robert Gordon and Micheal bishop would play in the arena league.
-
250M is insane, I imagine it’ll keep the league afloat for a year or two but they’ll still be toast afterwards.
-
I mean, considering the level of quarterbacking they’ve had lately that might be considered a good year for the riders.
-
I agree with you, but we offered Walker and Ellington good money but they chose to go elsewhere. There’s nothing we can do about that and paying an import reciever 300K is asinine. I think we’re keeping money available for one of those NFL guys to come back.
-
Correct me if I’m wrong, but guys like Chung, Goossen, Loffler and JSK were all on rookie contracts. They wouldn’t have been getting a ton of money, I’m also sure guys Lankford, Fogg and Wild weren’t getting a ton of money either.
-
As badly as I want us to get a big play reciever, at this point I’d be happy if we saved our cash for when Matthews is done waiting for the NFL or better yet if a Zylstra becomes available. I don’t want us to blow our load on a player like Manny, honestly I’d just sign Dressler cheap and go with three Canadian receivers to start the year if we can’t recruit an effective one. A guy like Simonise could end up being exactly what we need and he’s already on the team.
-
Nick Moore, and even Ryan Smith to an extent can be considered high profile..
-
I would've loved Walker, but I'd still be thrilled with Matthews. I'm not really interested in Manny/Rosey, those guys to me are Bowman like signings.
-
I don’t think it’s a coincidence we lost every game that he missed last year.
-
I love Dressler. I would still like to have him back as our third import reciever on an incentive laden or team friendly deal.
-
This is kind of a strange comment, I feel like the CFL got better last year in terms of penalizing DB's compared to 2017.
