I agree that Streveler should get more playing time but not as a starter. MOS shouldn't be saying his time is capped because he got more playing time than he would have got had Nichols not been hurt. That comment by O' Shea is beyond stupid.  It does give you an idea of his strange mindset.

Can't remember the specific names...but I have seen interviews with more than one player who have said they are here because of O'Shea and not somewhere else.

I Think it is BS that they do not try to improve the team. They brought in Bighill, they brought in Andrew Harris, they brought in Chris Streveler and got rid of Dom Davis, they brought in Weston Dressler, They brought  Justin Medlock and convinced him to stay this year, They brought in Nic Demski, they brought in Drew Wolitarsky, they brought in Kienan LaFrance....and it goes on and on.
This is not Walters fault at all, nor Miller. The roster that goes on the field is controlled by O'Shea, and as many have said, and I agree, he is one stubborn dude, as can be said when he put Nichols back on the field at the end of last game, which caused the booing...but he won't admit it...and defends his actions with some lame excuse, about always trying to win. He is loyal to a fault, which is the reason we still have an average defensive coordinator at best.
Having said that...the players respect O'Shea and some of them are here because he is here. I hate watching him get interviewed because he is so damn defensive about everything. Guess it goes with the position he used to play.

Guy is human...took it personally. To me it means he cares and wants to be his best. So what? I agree this was blown out of proportion cause most fans were booing cause they wanted to see more of Streveler and were disappointed in MOS decision when the game was out of hand. We all know Nichols is our No.1 .The backup Qb is always the favourite when the game is a blowout. Nothing new here.

And if you can't be competitive in a small market that cannot attract private ownership, then perhaps the time has come to move the team to a market that can afford to be competitive.
This is an issue for the league, just like the NHL the league has an interest in policing the franchises to make sure they are viable. Part of being viable means you have to be able to afford an operating budget big enough to compete on even ground with the other teams. Teams that sit in small markets that cannot do this need to be forced out of those markets into bigger markets that can support a team with private ownership.

The real reason we lost was we had Ottawa second and long ALL night and Harris found the sweet spot in our zone every single time. I’ve never seen a team complete so many second and longs. This is 100 percent entirely scheme and even with the best MLB in the league and loads of talent on the defensive side we will struggle defensively all season unless there’s a change at the DC position.

Don’t be that guy.. on one leg Nichols completed 72 percent of his passes, for 371 yards and 3 td’s and zero INT, also Nichols had 390 yards passing, 2 tds and completed 65 percent of his passes, and zero INT back in the 2016 WSF against BC. Kevin Glenn WISHES he was ever as clutch when it mattered as Nichols. How can you blame those loses on Nichols when our defence was historically bad when it mattered?

I guess every fan has the right to boo any player but I am not convinced a real fan would exercise that right. As fans we go to the game to support our team for all the time it is on the field.  I supported Willy during his time here and wondered how much punishment a man could take and still come back.  Eventually those hits affected his playing ability.
Nichols had a bad night but so did Fogg, Lankford and many others. The problem in that game is the team were not prepared properly to play it.  Where Ottawa seemed to know what was going to happen we seem to guess what they would do.   They had seen some weaknesses and exploited them.  Very little is mentioned about all the penalties that cost us a pile of points. That is something we should be booing about.  Why are those guys allowed to do that?
Nichols is my quarterback and I hope he puts that game behind him.

O'Shea has a stubborn streak a mile wide & I think he's not the kind of guy who can adjust to changes on the fly.  I don't think he's a bad coach but I also don't think he's a great head coach either. I've never heard O'Shea ever say once he made a mistake & own up to it . He's too loyal at times  with his coaches & his players. Failing to address the liabilities of Ritchie Hall is frustrating.  He should've been fired after our playoff loss but it didn't happen.  I think we'll keep winning with him during the regular season as that's proven but win a Grey Cup? Not sure he can do it.

Every team gets punched in the mouth at some point during the season. Its not how hard they get hit, its how they recover. Nothing has really changed since last week. Weve merely seen what can happen if you play down to your opponents, or if they out prepare/execute you.

Firstly, put any notion of replacing Matt Nichols out of your mic’d up minds. Wrong or right, that’s just not O’Shea.
Secondly, all this talk about booing Nichols has taken a course that was not the intent of the booing. They were booing the decision to re-insert Nichols and taking out Streveler, effectively destroying what little enjoyment that was left. Just because Matt and the boys misconstrued the booing is a reflection of the course of the game. They played poorly and deserved to called out for it. Perhaps there was little bit of guilt behind the rallying of the troops.
Thirdly, all this hullabaloo over booing might just ignite the fans to really express their feelings over the exasperation they feel for the poor play of the team, and really, who could argue?

Well said Mike. I to think Nichols is just in a slump. Likely stemming from his knee injury. It happens, and I expect him to turn it around this season.

I also feel he missed an opportunity. He was obviously emotional after the loss, and I totally understand why. But to say what he did, shouldn't have happened. He's at work. He's getting paid, by me (fans). If I'm not happy with what I'm paying for, I will let that be known. Though I wasn't one that boo'd. I hated the decision to let him back in the game. The DE's where playing very well for OTT AND Hardrick was out. I get the next man up philosophy but you're putting your starting QB (who had already taken a beating) behind a now even weaker Oline for 3 minutes of garbage time??? Anyone who thinks that's a good idea, is either too close to the players or they just don't understand the risk involved with every snap of the ball.

I've not given up hope on this team/season. But Nichols needs to step up and be a leader in the media (he's obviously one in the locker room) 100% of the time. Not just when things are going well.

I'll also say that I think the media is stretching this out a fair bit too.

I have no problem with fans booing him. Like I said before, Brock was treated a lot worse & he survived.  If he isn't playing well, he's fair game. The last 2 minutes was bizarre, though.  The coach caused the issue & that doesn't happen often.

A lot of guys on here don't understand how plays are called. You may have a primary receiver, but lots of options.
Lapo doesn't just call "5 yard plays" all game. The 5 yard out is usually the 3rd or 4th option or the running back option. A lot of that is on the QB getting the time to read options (which Nichols usually gets) and then going through the proper progression. Also, the QB and receiver have to see the same thing and adjust.
I know this is obvious to the knowledgeable football fan, but it is not all on the O coordinator

Legitimate points and concerns. But, we’re still averaging 32 points a game with mediocre QB play. And 5 - 4 is not terrible considering we had a raw rookie start the season for us at QB. I think we are who we thought we would be - average, playoff team, but not a cup contender. Question is, will that be good enough to save some jobs next season?

YEAH HE IS...AND IS 4-1 as a starter this year even though he has played below his usual standards...point being???...I can say too..we are probably better off with Strevler behind center if Nichols gets hurt than anything you guys trot out there...especially based on the support all around )coaching/rb/O-line/receiver) and proof is in the pudding from whats transpired this year so far.
Heck...Streveler has produce more TD's this year in his 3 starts and spot play all by himself than your offense has in total all year...can't deny that can you?

Langford going deep and stretching the field might just be the magic elixir this offence needs . All it takes is one successful or even near completion. When that happens it opens the intermediate stuff and gets the 7 or 8 out of the box making Harris way more effective too.
