So you place no value on good, quick decisions, ball security, quick release and leadership?   Those are huge in the CFL. You can win a lot of games with that and if the other pieces are in place you can win it all.

How soon people forget 2014.  We lost out on Collaros, Burris and Glenn in succession.  Got Willy because he was what was left.   Too many things can happen once it gets to free agency.

If you're hitching your wagon on signing Durant & letting Nichols go that's a huge risk. First, you're assuming he'll be available. Second, how do you know he comes here if the Als want to sign him as there'll be a bidding war. Now, it's $500,000 instead of $400-$425,000 that Nichols would sign for.  Lastly, at age 35 or 36 with his injuries I hardly see how that's a win for the Bombers signing him.

Settling for mediocre was going with Jyles, pierce, glitz Elliot, brink, hall and willy.

Nichols is far superior in every regard.    No his may not ever bee BLM or Reilly or Ray. But he is a very good Qb that played well enough to go 10-3.
Why some of you **** on him I don't know.

Players don't really have any say in where they are traded to. And what type of advice could Warren Moon give about that?
Best I can come up with is wanting advice on whether he should stay in the CFL or try the NFL.

Hate them both so very much. Stamps have gone 9-0 at home something like 3 times, and have lost the GC each time...
Truly *impressive* how few championships they have considering their regular seasons the last decade...

?‍?The CFL unveiled the list of officials for Sunday's big game. The name Jeff Harbin appears under Video Official. The same Jeff Harbin who has made several key mistakes recently, in leading up to the Grey Cup. There is no word whether reviews will be reviewed or not.
Up until this time...there have been no challenge flags thrown on the announcement.

    Game Notes
This will be the first-ever post-season start for Burris vs Calgary.
This game matches Calgary with a +19 Turnover Ratio (#2) against Ottawa who were -10 (#7 in the CFL).
Ottawa has a current streak of 8 games in a row with a higher Time of Possession averaging 31:40 and 6 more plays.
Ottawa set a team record with 6,191 passing yards in 2016 and ranked #1 in the CFL for the second year in a row.
Ottawa has scored an offensive touchdown in every game this season – one of just two CFL teams to do that in 2016 (with Winnipeg).
For the 10th time this season, the Stampeders did not allow a single QB Sack and had just four 2-&-Outs.
Jerome Messam averaged 6.0 yards per rush in a career-best 84 yards in total. Calgary outrushed BC 166 yards to 81.
Calgary survived back-to-back turnovers in the 3rd Quarter and did not allow BC a point off either giveaway.
Calgary has now been in the West Division Final 8 times in the last 9 years and proceeded on to the Grey Cup 4 times.
Calgary defence in 2016: The Stamps allowed an average of only 15.0 points per game over their final 6 contests (incl. the playoff win).
Calgary has a current streak of 5 games in a row with a higher Time of Possession averaging 32:57 – so with Ottawa’s 8- game TOP advantage streak, one will have to give in this game.

Salary cap and free agency both work against a dynasty.  Two in a row is possible but three won't happen again.

I caught that one and later he said "can't you find someone else to film?"  Burris has said worse.  I've no use for either one. Over all I'm pretty tired of the amount of sideline antics and mugging they show every game.

For his era, lancaster was as much an nfl style qb as existed. Dont forget that era the nfl wasnt nearly as rigid as its perceived currently for passers.
Brian brohm ran a spread offense in the ncaa. Not a pro type offense. BLM is 6'2 brohm was 6'3. Drew willy also wasnt an nfl prototype for qb. Good size and tenure but QBs who struggle to throw to an area of the field (deep in his case) are low ceiling dime a dozen. Buffalo isnt exactly an nfl puppy mill either.
Not so many schools run the old I form/pro form 2 wr set constantly any more. The NFL has made a lot more use out of 3 wr packages on the whole with some even running a spread offense. The line between an NFL, CFL, and NCAA "Style" qb is very blurred now. The NFL has more running qbs then the cfl. Which starter in the cfl is a threat to rush for 800+ yards any more?
It makes it even harder now then it used to be to find qb talent young. Guys will get a year on the PR to see how they learn and adapt that never would have gotten a sniff of the NFL in the past.
So small schools do yield some benefit. Those guys tend to get over looked more. And having a small school QB who crushed his competition level is better imop then having a big school guy who was mediocre.
A guy like gage gubrud (eastern washington) with his performance in his first year starting will probably still get a decent NFL look. The key to finding qbs imop is to prioritize skill set and to aim back at guys who are running out of NFL time. Dont fall soo much in love with the amazing athlete who cant toss it down field, find the guy who doesnt have the NFL bulk weight, has a good arm but not a crazy arm but the accuracy and touch to complete a pass to any part of the field. Despite the long time prototype of the NFL looking for rocket laser arms playing a pro offense and facing top competition, today the NFL looks for guys who put in a lot of starts in college, has great accuracy, and adequate arm strength. The physical attributes that make it hard to get picked up these days physically are under 6' and 200 lbs or under. But you dont see those guys with the regularity you used to even in the ncaa.
