Because we all know Buck's word when it comes to his own health is always on the up-and-up.

I hate to admit it but that was Jovon's best game in years. Perhaps his best ever. 
I still think he's an absolute bum, but I gotta give the clown credit.

However, I can't help but think that even if Goltz plays well and we win that Buck will be leading the troops out to their deaths again once he is healthy.

In order to be inconsistent, you must sometimes be good. Jovon on D is a joke and Jovon on STs is just depressingly pathetic, Straight up, he sucks.

I may be (am) biased but I love what I saw from Goltz. He moved the ball and was more poised than I ever remember him being. In any event, he at least proved that even on a day when PIerce was better than usual (lol) Goltz is certainly no worse an option. This was an ugly, ugly game but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I think I'm the only one not concerned about the receiver situation for next game. Losing Watson is most certainly a loss since he's the only guy who has any sort of chemistry with Pierce but the lineup of Pierce, Anderson, Kohlert, Etienne and Denmark isn't as scary as people seem to think it is. First of all, it's not as if we're going to be tearing it up through the air anyway and Anderson showed some incredible potential and polish in limited time last year and through TC this year. Pierce is someone we've all wanted to see for a while now and let's all be honest, receiver is the easiest position in the CFL to step in and succeed right away. Calgary's offense didn't suffer at all when Price and West stepped in last year and when Simon and Bruce were hurt or struggling last year, Taylor and Ernest Jackson were quite good in their first seasons.

I'd get him rolling out a lot more, but at this point there isn't much he does at a CFL quality starter level.  I don't think confining him to the pocket is cutting down on the hits he's taking, because he doesn't get rid of the ball.  He's more comfortable on the move, and we can still leave 6 guys in to protect.

Here's the issue though. I know for a fact that multiple people on this board and myself (before I joined) have been tired of Buck's play for a few years now. It's hardly a knee-jerk reaction. Was this even worse than usual? Yes it certainly was, but it doesn't mean that he's usually much better than this. The receivers may not have been open every play, but intermediate routes were open quite a bit and Buck was firing balls 5 feet over their heads! Secondly, when Buck has 6 seconds or so to throw the ball and gets sacked, it's inexcusable. Throw the damn ball away!

Now you're really showing how little you know...Midol is for relief of menstrual symtoms...or is that what you take? 

The only reason to play Buck at this point is to protect Goltz and/or Hall.
 
He offers nothing over and above what they can bring to the table right now. Experience? What difference does experience make when you don't apply any of it to what you do on the field? I watched several replays last night of Buck Pierce getting sacked where you can see him lock onto his initial read and not look at a single thing afterwards, including the defender coming to hit him. Veteran leadership? All he's doing at this point is frustrating our team, at least that's the vibe I get. Our defense must be getting tired of playing the entire second half. Our receivers must be getting tired of seeing balls sail way over their head or off to the side. At one point yesterday, his poor throw forced Isaac Anderson to make a sliding catch over the middle and if he had somehow miraculously been on the mark, Anderson probably turns it upfield for a big gain. Even the throws he completes at this point are awful. Go back and look at the tape. 26 yard completion to Matthews? Awful throw. The huge completion to Etienne on the pump and go? Terrible throw. They're completions, but the balls are not well thrown by any stretch.
 
He is simply a god awful QB at this point. Even when he goes an entire game without turning the ball over, he's horrible. He's finding new ways to be horrible every week and I'm just tired of it.

Sears is just a lights out football player. One of my favorite Bombers.

Personally, I think it is crap that they get to pick imports other than QB's from teams.  They should be able to fill their roster with imports through CFL free agency and scouting.  A nail is going to be put in the coffin of a lot of CFL careers for the imports taken by Ottawa.  For the NI's, life with 9 teams couldn't be better.  Guys who haven't played in 2-3 years will come out of the woodwork because of the shortage of talent.
 
Too early to pick a QB, but it wouldn't be Pierce.

It's not just his fumblietits, he flat out sucks at all aspects of returning now.

JJ has taken two brutal PI penalties, one of which was very costly. He does not have the speed anymore to make up for his always below average technique. The guy has always been over rated, and now that he looks as slow that he does, and quite obviously carries the ball like a loaf of bread (watch the replay of the second fumble) it's time at the VERY least to look at capable replacements for the position.
