  1. Entertaining game last night. Calgary looked like they would dominate early, then that pick 6...by Johnny. Prevent defence? Fuller makes it happen on a daring throw to get good yardage. Paredes - who'd have thunk? 50 yards? Horse collar tackle? Really? Roughing penalty on that little push? Really? Wow, Johnny Sears - that's why we loved you. Just stay healthy.. F antuz and F uller each 9 catches. How's that for "F"-ing performance? LS - that botched snap - boy that looked familiar to us Bomber fans and it cost Hamilton 2 points. What was the margin of winning again? Who's crying now? Brandon Banks takes one back for a TD. How sweet it is. Zachary Collaros looked exactly like the QB we wanted him to be - for us. Much less reckless in his running now. Bo Levi Mitchell looked so-so, especially with the great defensive schemes drawn up by Steinauer. He also threw 3 interceptions for the 1st time in his career. Both QBs threw ill-advised balls that led to TDs Prediction - Bakari Grant is going to be called for even more Offensive Interference calls. Keon Raymond...had a pretty good game. How about that goal line stance by Hamilton...pretty impressive. Gulp...just realized we play Hamilton next week. Just another reason why we better win tonight. The CFL site had a fan poll on the single biggest impact moment on the game last night. Even with all the big plays in the game, left out, was my choice, throwing the ball on 2nd down in the dying moments of the game when running a play could have used up another 20 seconds on the game clock. Kent Austin, or whomever...what were you thinking?
  2. Maybe Rory Kohlert and JF Gudino didn't come through the front door like many other NI receivers in the league, but if there's one thing I know, if you involve them in the game plan, the team will be rewarded. How high is their ceiling? Well, how many complete passes can Willy spread around? Yes, that many and that high.
  3. Will we see the 2014 Bombers as in the start of the last year? You know, the ones that shocked everybody and move the ball effectively, and defended the ball grudgingly. The team that everybody wanted to see, but were afraid to ask for? The team that played like a real team and gave us cause for elation, and even hope? Or...same old, same old? There really is no reason that this team can't go into Regina and come home with a win. Saskatchewan has as many question marks surrounding certain players as we do. If we can get any kind of running game going, we can take the pressure off of Willy and put the pressure on their LBs and secondary. C'mon MB, give us a good game plan. And of course, let's see some magic from Cotton and Marshall.
  4. I see TSN is adamant in continuing the very annoying practice of interviewing somebody during the course of a game. I absolutely hate that.
  5. Here's my pre-game report on Ottawa - based on comments from Santino Filoso (Defending the R source - and it ain't Kirk Penton) Funny, weird or right on predictions? - Ottawa will be 7-11 and make the playoffs and win a playoff game - they will have a new kicker before the end of the year. - the RedBlacks will lead the East Division in interceptions. - Justin Capicciotti and Marlon Smith will both have double digit sack seasons. - Antoine Pruneau will make 70+ tackles, have 5 sacks, force 5 fumbles and make 5 interceptions. - Ernest Jackson will lead the team in receptions, yards and touchdowns. - Jeremiah Johnson will be the feature back by Week 5. - Henry Burris will turn back the clock and throw for 5000 yards and 30 TDs - The Redblacks will have a top 3 offence. Montreal pre-game report: Crompton has cut his hair!! That is all.
  6. That would have been me for sure Danelle, but I can't seem to ignore the Ring Road that by-passes Regina altogether...no matter how many times I've tried.
  7. it's not injury-prone..it's just the Mace Pace.
  8. For the 1st time, in a long time, the Bombers aren't the first team to play to start off the CFL week, and I'm good with that. This year, we get a build up to our game. 3 games before ours. No more TSNgo BS. Just steady viewing on the tube. We'll start with the least attractive game (hairless vs ageless) and work up to a frenzy from there. Nice. ****Just about forgot to add my source for the hairless comment (can't have that now can we?) .@JCromp8 removed his #CFLFLow. How it will impact his play? (that's a joke, settle down) ➡ http://on.cfl.ca/OKRUA
  9. You guys are poetry pissants, in iambic pentameter. (Left justified)
  10. I'm glad you're up to date on your reading.Right off the bat, you might notice the name Drew Edwards. The Grey Cup odds are from the same article. The rest of the mumble-jumble are bits and pieces from around the league. Nowhere am I claiming credit for any information It's odd that you think I would try to "steal" this info when it is readily out there. My only purpose was to gather information and share it with whomever was interested. Perhaps, next time, my time would be better spent waiting for you to fill the gap. If you've even paid the slightest attention to information I supply, more times than not, I've given the source. But, don't worry, it won't happen again, I just won't share.
  11. Sigh.... The game we love is once again being threatened by greed. Expansion? Yuck. More games, more fringe players, more, more, more. I wish we could take our game and our trophy back. Go home Yankees, go home.
  12. - As far as focus goes, I'm pretty sure focus on the team and focus on the #4 and #5 can be distinguished, especially as TC progresses - And as far as ceiling goes, I agree with Tainted_F - how would we know? - Personally, nobody, Portis included, has convinced me that Portis is the better QB anyways...Portis has been in the system..in the league for what 3 years? And he still rates a PR spot? If Yantz isn't at least equal...I think we need to bring another QB for a look. I mean, is Portis at least average?
  13. The latest: starting defensive end Eric Norwood has been placed on the six-game injured list after an apparent household accident that required stitches. He’s not at practice. - Drew Edwards *****Hamilton is not thrilled with this: Odds to win the 2015 CFL Grey Cup Calgary Stampeders 13/4 Saskatchewan Roughriders 5/1 Edmonton Eskimos 11/2 B.C. Lions 6/1 Hamilton Tiger-Cats 13/2 Montreal Alouettes 8/1 Toronto Argonauts 8/1 Winnipeg Blue Bombers 17/2 Ottawa RedBlacks 20/1 ***** Ed Hervey, Edmonton, says “we feel like we’ve got a player in James (QB Franklin) With Matt Nichols likely to test the market at the end of the season we need to plan for the future at that position.” ***** There is already renewed unrest in #RNation over QB Henry Burris and coach Rick Campbell’s ability to lead the team to the next level. While patience was the name of the game in ’14, Ottawa fans are expecting wins this year. Preseason games have to be taken with a bit of a grain of salt, but they should also provide a glimpse of what the team will be once the games start to count. And while there were some positives, they were too few to leave even the most optimistic fan believing the Redblacks are ready to challenge for a playoff spot. ***** GM Marcel Desjardins indicated that he would be keeping an eye on other teams’ cut lists for potential kicking help. Brett Maher suffered a season ending injury. ***** BC Lions will keep all QBs - Jonathan Jennings, Greg McGhee, John Beck. Still concerned with the health of Lulay. ***** BC also has big concerns on their O-Line... ***** Toronto head coach Scott Milanovich explained why the Argos went with a vanilla package in exhibition. He doesn’t want to tip his hand. By putting out a team in disguise, it helps disrupt planning by the opposition when the real season kicks off.
  14. Why? Are there TVs under the tables too?
  15. I personally don't care about his age, eye colour, or hyphenage. If this player can help us win...sign him up.
  16. You're funny. After all that has just been written regarding Marve and the reason he is still #3, you proceed to follow the same line of reasoning. Makes me think you don't chew your food before swallowing either. Well excuse me for wanting the Bombers to win more than anything. The words of the coaching staff aren't flawless you know.... Unlike some of you, I realize that O'Shea and Bellefeuille have their biases too. Nah, I'm just funning with you. But when you speak of words from the coaching staff, it is the reason I quoted them again. They know Marve's exciting, but they're also subtly saying he needs a little more polish. Take their words under advisement. (Or chew on them a little longer, if you will) We all love Marve and want him to succeed - he's on our team. We're just more patient.
  17. You're funny. After all that has just been written regarding Marve and the reason he is still #3, you proceed to follow the same line of reasoning. Makes me think you don't chew your food before swallowing either.
  18. Pay attention. They did find a guy. Carlos Anderson. He suffered a suspected ACL tear. Stupid scouts.
  19. I agree with Atomic. There is nothing stopping our game planning from throwing Marve into a game as a nice change of pace. That move would provide another weapon to move the ball. It's been done before with success and it would be a giant boost for our offence. Brohm is #2 so we don't have to change much of the O if Willy goes down, and there's nothing wrong with that.
  20. Calming words from the mouth of Bob Irving: The Bombers had three goals going into Friday's game. Win, which they failed to do. Evaluate, which for sure they were able to do. And come out of the game healthy. It looks like they suffered one significant injury as rookie running back Carlos Anderson suffered a knee injury that head coach Mike O'Shea said "doesn't look good". So from those three points of view, it wasn't a very good night for the Bombers. However, I will go back to my original point - it's a mistake to read too much into a pre-season game. And so, let's wait until we see what happens in next Saturday's regular season opener in Regina before we draw any conclusions on where this 2015 edition of the Bombers is headed.
  21. And I'll add that the lack of execution by some of our players is the exact reason for exhibition games. It may not be fair to judge a player(s) on a single game or two, but that's all they have. C'est la vie. Our OC, imo, is not unlike most OCs. When effective, they look quite brilliant (see start of 2014). When stumbling, (see the rest of 2014), questions arise quickly and second guessing starts anew. You can look to George Cortez as another example. Genius one year, kicked to the curb the next. Who's right? As to Willy, this is the year Willy has to start looking like a starting QB. He both, scares me and fascinates me at the same time. The D? Sounds like even with a simple attack, they got beat by a simple offence, led by a QB who 'gets' the game and loves to attack the other team. Willy hasn't shown that instinct yet. But they are different style QBs. Our B/U QBs are still a big concern for me. Nobody has shown they are a potential starting QB, and isn't that what we want? Without seeing the game it is hard to comment further. All I know is Hamilton whipped us...in an exhibition game. It must be noted that we play them in our second league game and if there was a reason to not show many facets of our game..I hope that that is the one.
  22. Either a spelling error or a Freudian slip of forgetting the "I" in your post.
  23. I just don't see it as a good idea at all. There is no benefit to a canadian qb so why decide on a guy who is likely behind the others in terms of development anyway and not give him reps? What if it turns out he's a terrible qb at this level?Who is behind whom in terms of development though? The guy who has played Canadian football his whole career? Or the 3rd choice amongst our QBs, whose had at least 2 years to learn and develop his game and has not developed? And as to the 2nd part of your question, just how many QBs have we've seen and hoped would turn out?...and they were terrible? Too many to even mention. We're talking about the 4th person development position here, and to me, taking that decision path is no different than keeping Joe QB-Star from Turn-'em-out University who will not play Pro ball at any level. But doesn't that just prove how hard it is to play quarterback in the CFL? Why hand a guy a position when he is likely less talented than the other qbs you have? You shouldn't be giving people jobs without letting them showcase themselves against their peers. IF they already feel Yantz can develop @#4 and, is at least equal to the other 2 options, wouldn't it make sense for the other 2 ???'s to fight for the #3 spot in the very limited time they already have? And If you're going to be given jobs based on only a few series, really, what's the difference? Likely less talented? Probably so, in the American version of "I'm the QB" but again, so many 'more talented' QBs have gone by the wayside. I would love to have seen a battle, in Blue and Gold, with Nat. QB vs. the Imp QBs. - using the same offence. That would have told me more. In any case, we can at least discuss this fairy tale dream…before Saturday's cuts, unless they have already made their decisions, in which case..it doesn't really matter.
