Fair, but what signings are you really excited about?

    We're going to lose Schoen.

Bighill was a straight liability in the Grey Cup. I don't see reason for much optimism there amongst the LB corps
Collaros has been dog **** for 3 straight Grey Cups, sans showing up super clutch in OT in 2021.

I'm not disagreeing with you, btw, I'm just not seeing many upgrades.

    It's January

We have good Cdn talent. Other teams don't. Brady solves two problems. First he upgrades the Cdn talent. Second he's the best RB in the league. The Riders for example could overpay him and use the free'd up import spot to help fix their O line with a cheap import.

They could, but won't. And I don't at all think BO leaves wpg for another squad unless it's 100k + more in salary. He's said in the past it's the NFL or WPG. Obviously money can change that, but I'm guessing it would have to be serious money. He has some deep roots here currently.

    I think we lose:

    1. Brown to a team that can give him a chance at being a starter, likely Ottawa or Hamilton.
    2. Brady O to the highest bidder, not the NFL.
    3. BOO to a team that can give him more playing time.
    4. Gray to a team who over pays him.
    5. Schoen to a team who overpays him. I'm hoping we can find the money to keep him and Lawler, but $500K on two receivers seems like a lot to me.

I agree with all of this, but I think Brady's highest bidder will be the Bombers.

It's such a small league that you could argue middle of the pack is still on the high end.  AFAIK, MBT will be tied with Harris for 3rd highest paid QB (behind Collaros & Kelly). Don't recalling seeing any numbers for Fajardo's recent extension so he could be in there now as well.

    Kelly - Collaros: 600k range

    Harris - MBT:  450-500k range

    Maier - Masoli: 400-450k range

     Adams - Fajardo: 350-425k range

Mitchell was at 500-520K but Hamilton now has an extra 300k to throw at Brown (or someone else).

    Schoen...

Doesn’t matter where they come from lmao a teams ability to use a guy doesn’t change if he sits on another teams pr before he’s signed, or plays some place else first. Shake your goofy head.

    Ugh...

Dunbar was released. I posted he'd be adequate replacement should Schoen leave.

Someone else said, they'd rather the team went with a pure rookie/rookie type of money contract.

I disagreed saying the club has not been great at bringing in rookie WRs who produce immediately.

You chimed in, talking about wrs the bombers signed in FA (which is exactly what I want them to do) thinking you were disproving a point I made. However, you actually confirmed what I was saying.

And what does their source matter?
It’s not that schoen would be replaced by one guy, his touches would get split between those guys.

Because the discussion was signing Dunbar if Schoen leaves vs going with a rookie. Don't interrupt if you're not paying attention.

Hamilton can pay Dru Brown $450,000 and still be paying less for him and BLM than we are paying Collaros with BLM's restructured deal.

Hope he goes east but have a bad feeling he's headed to Calgary.

Not quite. BLM is for 225k. We're not paying ZC over 600k this year.

That's a bit dismissive, he was here for the extent of the 2022 TC and performed well in 2 pre-season games, unfortunately he had to compete against phenomenal rookie sensation Dalton Schoen who had the waggle down pat within days, that doesn't mean he was incapable of becoming a good receiver.  He isn't the first talented player cut from TC due to numbers.

My mistake, I swore he got into the lineup once or twice due to injuries. Either way, he is still not a good candidate to showcase the mafias ability to bring in good rec who produce immediately, imo.

I would have brought up Agudosi, who I'm just remembering.

2022 training camp cut Lucky Jackson is now playing for the Vikes, if he hadn't run up against Schoen, he might be playing for the Bombers.  New recruit Ontaria Wilson looks well worth developing.

He was also cut by EDM I believe, or maybe he left for the NFL in the offseason... "Playing for the Vikings" is a stretch. And NFL success never equals CFL success. He had opportunities here to play and did nothing with them. Which again is my point. We've brought guys in who on paper should be good. But haven't been. Even though I disagree with you about him...that's 3 wrs. This regime for whatever reason just doesn't produce high quality rec on the regular. Lbs, dbs, OL/DL, RB....sure. but WR...I'm not seeing it.

Insert random over rated rider vet here * lol

Hes a talent guy. And will probably be cheap this off season. But idk if we are filling a wr spot, I wouldn’t want to pay more than the imp rookie base. We can find and develop WRs now. We’ve had tons of wr talent in camp the last few years. Bailey and woli can back fill a ton of catches too.

Tons of talented rec? I'm not sure about that. No one has been able to do much of anything with the exception of Schoen and Bailey.

I was referencing Jonny actually but since you responded with a counter that it is also not our job to judge a player's worth for coming back. If someone suggests we should cut bait on Adam Bighill after an all star season it is not unreasonable at all to ask who they think should replace him. Highly important little consideration that MUST go into it. Find someone else is not an answer. Cutting bait on veterans needs to happen for sure at some point, is it that time now? Highly debatable, depends entirely on who you gonna dress instead. Can't cut bait on an allstar MLB unless you got a guy that can play at that level. Do we have that guy? I don't see him on our roster.

Look, I'm neither for or against keeping Bighill. If we can get a guy that replaces his play without constituting any drop off sign me up. However, Jonny was suggesting we just cut bait on Biggie and let the chips fall where they may.....and I disagree with that.

Well you quoted me in that comment. And we essentially agree. I said it comes down to $$ and effectiveness. There's only a few guys who know how they will work that evaluation. I think solid replacements are likely already on the roster, and I wouldn't be upset if they moved on. But I'd also understand if they decided to not move on.

Biggie's salary is not that high compared to a lot of other positions.

Sure. Who you replacing him with? Change for the sake of change is just stupid. Put out a candidate that would provide the upgrade you want and we can discuss. You don't dump an all star MLB just because you think it's time to do so without a surefire replacement.

    That's not my job.

My theory for how QB carousel shakes out: Dru Brown signs in Ottawa for a 1-year at 250-300K and has a camp competition with Dustin Crum for the QB1 spot. Edmonton signs McBeth and they cut Taylor Cornelius even though he has 100K+ guaranteed — McBeth ultimately beats out Tre Ford for QB1 and he requests a trade but Jones won't trade him. Hamilton brings back BLM and also signs Masoli on the cheap and flip-flops those two back and forth for the year. Calgary signs Dane Evans to backup/push Maier. Winnipeg picks up Cornelius off the scrap heap as a short yardage QB/backup to Collaros.

Some of this makes sense. But Masoli is done. Blew his Achilles well after the season started. Won't be ready until at least july and that's best case scenario. I fully expect a retirement announcement from him by September.

Hmmmmm is this actually true or was it just the bo Levi Mitchell showed up? Arbuckle fizzled, maier was lackluster.... before that it was the likes of tate and Glenn and Burris....

Burris did win a cup. I'd argue they've been the best qb developers/finders since the 90s easily.
