we dont need BO for ratio reasons at all.....and if we can get 2 legit talents starting as imports, in lieu of his salary, one of which being his replacement, and keeps your team deep you do it everyday all day

Agreed. I was just pointing out that we don't technically need a back up NI RB with the way we've been using the roster lately.

The thing people need to remember about a Canadian running back is that they are so few and far between that committing to one as a ratio breaker means you also have to invest the capital in a capable backup as well.

Johnny Augustine made 90k last year, probably close to the going rate unless you find a good rookie. Is there a team that is going to invest 300k into a RB1/2? If there is, I hope it’s not us.

(obviously you could flip your ratio or dress more than the required amount of Canadians but there’s a cost to that as well)

Normally this is true, but we've been starting more Canadians than needed the last few years I believe.

    A lot like Vernon Adams.

Low arm talent.  Did alright in Air Raid stuff just reading pre snap where the safeties were and going to prescribed route.  Didn't play much in USFL but looked extremely overmatched when he did.

Kind of guy that could be the short-yardage specialist if he picks up the wedge play.  Ran some zone read stuff so has some ability with option.

Definitely a guy that's been on CFL radar forever.  He took over for injury as a sophomore and then junior year got Eastern Washington to the FCS Championship Game where they got stomped by NDSU.

Basically if he ends up being as good as Prukop he's done alright.  Don't expect him to be slinging it out of the pocket up here, but I guess we'll see.

I don't see Bailey being a guy getting a lot of calls day 1 outside of Ottawa.  Bailey was huge for Brown.  What did he have, 13 or 14 catches with Brown last season?  Like 1/3 of his season total.

But I'm not sure Ottawa will pay him either.  I think like a high 90s with some bonuses kind of deal would be the ceiling for him.  Just hasn't really stepped into that #2 type receiver role whenever it's opened up for a few games.

I can see ssk going for either Bailey or Schoen

I would assume that Acklin would be released if they signed Schoen.

I don't think Schoen is going to get anything near 300k as top receivers have got in past years.   That market had been driven up considerably by teams like Edmonton who were so lacking in talent they could afford to overpay for Lawler then Lewis. I also think that Schoen doesn't have the athletic skillset that makes teams salivate at the prospect of adding a guy like Lawler, Lewis, or even Ryhmes.   He's a quality receiver but he doesn't fly off the page and part of his success is based on the team he plays for and his connection with Zack.

This is a bad take. A rookie leading the league in yards doesn't fly off the page? And then backing it up with another fantastic season....keep in mind in his rookie campaign, he was the guy. There was no Lawler etc taking coverage away. Schoen is top 2 rec in the league right now easily.

The fact that he was leaving is irrelevant.  If the trade was made earlier, before teams started re-doing their QB contracts, there could have been a bigger market/demand and gotten a bigger return.  Key word is "could", there's no guarantee that he could have gotten more for him.

Could have should have but didn't. All of that doesn't matter. The facts are Brown was always hitting the market, most teams seemed ok to wait for him. Ottawa became a bit more desperate

  6. I'm not sure why people think they didn't get enough, or dropped the ball. Lol. As soon as that clock hit 00:00 in the Grey Cup, Brown was gone. He was never coming back regardless of the wishful thinking. Getting anything for what is essentially an unproven QB who was absolutely going to the FA market is a very solid move.

Good luck to Brown. And Fantastic move by Walters.

I thought the value was interesting as well. Cgjr was disappointing last year. Ceresna is in the top tier of dts in the league. Would I trade woli for him?(if he wasn’t a pending fa) yeah I would. And I love woli. I’d probably trade any of our ni ol Cept Eli maybe Dobson too. I’d trade Kramdi, and any one of our ni defensive guys.
I wonder if this is edm being crazy, tor selling high on gittens, or if this is the value right now for top end dts and ni starters. I mean if that’s his value, what would Brady be worth in a trade?

Gittens isn't wolli though. He's a younger Demski with IMO a higher ceiling. Solid move by Jones.

People are soo fast to turn on every other position when they don’t see exactly the production they expect but QBs get an instant pass if the team wins enough games. It’s nuts. People have turned on wj, jj, biggie, Brady etc for far less than piss poor play off/gc performances.

To be fair there are a lot more variables that can decide a QBs play. Route running, blocking, play call etc.

Miller doesn't coach the team. He has his duties. He lets Walters & O'Shea do there's. He stays in his lane. He does not interfere

Not in the day to day. But he knows what he wants this team to look like and he's absolutely had a hand in building it. Whether you're right or wrong, what I said remains true. This team is about the community off the field and ground and pound on it.
