  1. I think a full time rb who can actually withstand contact will help.... also replacing Bryant with anyone should add at least a few more points on offense.
  2. I don't see Heatley fitting in at all.. Roy has a better chance.
  3. Trestman is good **** he will find work
  4. Maybe they can give Max Hall another shot
  5. This team should have loads of cash ... we have the least amount of "star" players in the league next to Ottawa
  6. And to be fair, it also makes a difference what type of show it was. Many promotions have their main venue and then a secondary location where the trainees/rookies get ring time because you need the ring time to get better. Hopefully guys are trained enough that its not horrific, but it is possible to see a show and have it be a "training" show. I dont really like that from a business perspective but it happens. Years ago we used Rookies Sports Bar for that. it was where I first started booking (and my partner booked the main shows). But we had a handful of rookies who didnt appear on the main shows and sprinkled in a few veterans. A really good veteran can make a green as grass trainee look passable and still teach him how to work in front of a crowd. That should be the goal on "training shows" It was a country show featuring The Honky Tonk Man.... I watched a decent amount of local wrestling... I know not everyone will be ripped or jacked... but when you have a 120 lbs guy trying to be like the Ultimate Warrior or when you have guys who are so bloated and out of shape that they are huffing and puffing doing one spot.... for the sake of wrestling get out of the ring. I had to help tear down the ring and carry the equipment because some of the skinny kids couldn't lift it!! Now I havn't gone to a PCW show, but the other show (name is escaping me) where they brought in Billy Gunn a lot and used lots of former stars... the non stars at least had a physique and could actually wrestle a fair amount. Mentallo in my books was more entertaining then guys like Teddy Hart or Gangrel. If you are fat and out of shape... at least have a gimmick that entertains the audience. Generic skinny little guy who falls through the ropes trying to do a lion sault, can't peform a proper suplex, and who struggle to even perform a basic fireman carry should not be in the ring at all.....
  7. I do agree that wrestling takes a lot of training... It was obvious watching guys botch spots one after another and it made for some ugly viewing.
  8. Well the level of talent that I saw was really bad and had I went in the ring I would of probably been in the top 3 shape despite not hitting a gym in years. It was really bad. The same can be said for mma/boxing.. I went to an old Gladiator card and remember seeing an obese guy from a reserve boxing against a guy on the Canadian national team and was absolutely destroyed. Anyone could get into the ring/cage if they want to.
  9. I just remember Mike and a few others who scoffed at me when I suggested that Etch wouldn't even make it to the end of the year and were convinced that he wasn't as bad as advertised.... I can't imagine anyone being as bad as Etch for next year. We have the talent thats for sure..
  10. I'd have zero interest in Giguere... way to inconsistent... I'd only sign him at a lower rate or if for some reason we are battling injuries.... I'd much rather save the pennies and play JFG and then put the money towards a NI olineman...
  11. WWE/WCW fighters off the top of my head who did real MMA..... Giant Silva... was destroyed and was a huge joke Bam Bam .... went into the fight thinking it was a work... it was not and was beaten badly despite having a reputation of being a bad man while in ECW. Ludvig Borga.... his lone fight was against a debuting Randy Couture.... did not do well. Apparently had a previous background in boxing... was legit crazy... think he went to jail and then killed himself.... Dan Severen.... see previous post about him fighting against people from the audience... Ken Shamrock.... probably the 2nd best after Brock for success... did mostly Pancrase I thought before his pro wrestling. Bart Gunn.... despite being KO'd by butterbean... had a few fights in Japan and didn't totally embarass himself. Sean O'Haire... had some kind of martial arts background... was embarassed by Butterbean. Batista beat a tomato can and realized that he can make much more money doing movies.... Dos Caras Jr.... mostly known for getting destroyed by Crocop... he at least won a few fights though Bobby Lashley... couldnt' even beat James Thompson...... the guy is way to roided and has horrid cardio... has a lot of fights but nowhere near the skills of Brock. Akebono... only wwe match was the sumo match with Big Show.... was embarassed frequently in K-1 / Pride.... Nathan Jones.... only fight was I think in Pride 1.... embarassed himself against a sumo and stuck to doing movies.... Tank Abbott... sucked majorly once he quit wrestling and embarassed himself frequently in fights.... Sylvester Terkay.... actually had decent outings... decisioned Remy Bonjasky in K-1 and I think he beat at least B level guys in MMA Ron Waterman... has some good wins in his career... didn't do much in wcw though Craig Pitbull Pittman.... sucked also Jushin Liger... lost in his only match.... Daniel Puder... tapped Kurt Angle and won 10 fights and for some reason quit MMA? So for the most part... most pro wrestlers did not do well getting into MMA....
  12. You could be a wrestler at a local show, hell during the Ringmasters shows I went to I remember seeing drunk ladies in the crowd jumping in the ring..... You could be a mma fighter probably at a reserve show or in the crappier parts of the States... tonnes of times they had guys fighting out of the audience against trained fighters. I remember also seeing So You Think You Are Tough ghetto shows on the fight network several years back... not impossible to get into either or.
  13. Only because one could wrestle for 50 years.. In mma most people can't compete past 40 years old. The brain damage is much worse in mma / kick boxing. Most wrestlers fall apart from the drugs, roids, drinking etc... MMA definitely is much worse for your overall health.
  14. The irony is that you really do have no clue what you are talking about. The heavy weight division in the UFC is barebones dry... http://www.sherdog.com/news/rankings/2/Sherdogs-Official-Mixed-Martial-Arts-Rankings-78789 Most of the guys fighting at HW on most cards are literally just big guys who aren't morbidly obese... the sheer lack of talent at that weight class is what makes it possible for Brock to come in and do very well. Mark Hunt was fighting for a championship and as much as I'm a fan the guy would get absolutely obliterated by Brock unless he landed 1 lucky punch. I don't consider Anthony Hamilton, Ruan Potts, Jack May, Shawn Jordan as highly talented individuals. Wrestling was violent in the ECW days , I'm sure it's a physically exhausting profession but to compare getting accidentally hit once or twice to say a 5 round fight where someone gets hit over 100 times.... not even close. I am close to a few people who have had real fights UFC/K-1 and they look absolutely awful the next day after going hard in a fight. I've had friends who did local wrestling... most injuries I witnessed was twisted ankles and maybe some bruises from chops to the chest. A chop to the chest is nothing compared to a solid leg kick to the shin.... it's not even close..... Things change once you get punched in the face.... in MMA you see Jiu jitsu champions who are absolutely godly in grappling .... completely fizzle out in the cage once they get hit in the face.... it's a totally different experience.
  15. Lol at Brock getting his ass beat badly... in the heavy weight division one punch can end a fight instantly... look at the severe beating that Hunt took against several elite strikers yet in other fights he was knocked out by a middleweight and dropped by Werdum. The fight of Brock vs Carwin was more then enough to show me that Brock is a tough guy... Carwin hits extremely heavy and he survived a huge beating to come back and win.
  16. I was not impressed with the team in the 2nd and the first half of the 3rd period.... lots of sloppy plays that could of been avoided. I am not a fan of Clitsome... that guy has issues getting the puck out of our end.
  17. As mentioned before... in the heavy weight division out side of maybe 5 or so guys most of the HW's are absolutely useless and anyone with athletic ability can dominate despite having limited skills. I am pretty sure Brock could come in and wipe out nearly every hw the UFC has outside of the top 5 guys.
  18. I'm glad we are going with someone with upside rather then signing guys like Brink where you know mediocrity is the peak of his talents...
  19. ...and what do you got? A top 4 defenceman...NOT! Jets not called anyone up yet? Scary! If they intend to call someone up I would think it would have to be now. Makes me wonder if Chevy is still trying to work a trade or signing before midnight. Our 6 D today were: Dustin Byfuglien, Ben Chiarot, Grant Clitsome, Paul Postma, Adam Pardy, Julien Brouillette ...and what do you got? A top 4 defenceman...NOT! Jets not called anyone up yet? Scary! Our 6 D today were: Dustin Byfuglien, Ben Chiarot, Grant Clitsome, Paul Postma, Adam Pardy, Julien Brouillette How's Chiarot doing? Have not seen him play. Chiarot looked very good against Buffalo, he didn't look like a liability at all and playing him really isn't much of any drop off compared to Stuart.
  20. I went to the game... Perrault, Frolik, ,Scheifele , Little all played really hard on offense and Chiarot looked very comfortable out on D. Byfuglien was decent but still has many moments where he was lazy, same goes for Kane. As I said in the other thread Wheeler was just awful... was getting the puck picked from him for most of the game and really could not do anything at all on the ice. Something must be up with him because he seemed so flat.
  21. I much rather the team sign these kind of players who showed potential then for them to sit on their hands and lose them to other teams. It's a good signing because of his passport.
  22. I'd much rather we go forward with a guy who can build a great D around great players rather then a coach trying to fit mediocre players on an unproven defensive system. The fact we have to settle for a guy like Kuale just because he suited Etch's D made absolutely no sense to me. This is Christmas coming early and of the two Coordinators I was much more unhappy with Etch because of his track record of mediocrity and their really was no way that his defensive would ever dominate for a full season.
  23. The fans in the stands go wah wah wah.... wah wah wah....
  24. Biggest scam I fell victim to was my wife saying that once we get married that I would be getting appointments on a frequent basis!! It was all a lie!!
  25. I went to the game tonight.... Chiarot looked really really good tonight. The only D guy that I saw playing flakey was Pardy and Clitsome to a certain extent. Frolik and Perreault definitely put in a great effort and for some reason Wheeler looks absolutely disinterested or totally unfocused on the ice.... clearly was the weakest link on the main lines.
