I hope people at the Bombers organisation read and pass around Mike's post.

Oh, that's weak. I'd sooner turn off the CFL and never watch football again rather than put on another teams jersey.

That's not what you did at all and we both know it. You pledged your loyalty to another team, which is probably the worst thing a fan can claim to do in my mind. That's fake fan BS and that's why you get "vilified".

I'm done with going to Bomber games.
I'm not done watching the team. I'm done making the 40 minute drive and 20 minute walk to the stadium to subject myself to the product that we're being given. I'm still going to watch religiously every single game, but I want the ability to turn this garbage off with the push of a button instead of having to travel another hour back home.
We absolutely ****ing suck. I'm sure it's a combination of things and I'm sure the blame isn't on any singular person, but this team just lacks any entertainment value whatsoever. I'm 26 years old now, I've had season tickets since 1999, when I was 9 years old and I used to have so much team spirit that I would save up birthday and Christmas money to buy my own so I could go with my dad. I didn't want my parents to buy my tickets, because I wanted to support the team myself. Sure, it was all their money anyways but that was the pride I had in being a Bomber fan, I thought at 9 years old that I could proudly support them MYSELF.
I never used to miss a game for anything. I've missed birthdays. Weddings. Parties. I've gotten in fights with girlfriends because I wanted to watch a Bomber game on TV instead of going out to a BBQ or some kind of other social function. I missed half of my high school graduation to listen to preseason football on the radio. I've driven to Calgary, Edmonton and Regina to watch games, despite it taking all the way until last year to ever see a road win. Two years ago, I went to Los Angeles during Bomber season and they were playing Hamilton (the game where McDuffie returned a TD on us) and I missed watching half of a Dodger game because I stayed in their team store until the end of the Bomber game because that was the only place in the stadium I could get consistent wifi. There are literally no ends to what I've done to expose myself to as much Bomber football as I possibly can and I really just don't give a **** anymore.
I'm tired of Mike O'Shea and his "I don't know what's going on" attitude. His post game interview last night was depressing and apparently his halftime interview with Sara Orlesky was even worse. I'm tired of no answers for anything. I'm tired of trying the same **** over and over again and expecting it to worth the 17th time when it didn't work the first 16. I'm tired of watching teams run the same plays we do for 15, 20, 30 yards when we can barely run them for 2. We've seen 7 wins in 30 tries at Investors Group Field and it's ****ing pathetic. If it's not the QB, it's the defense. If it's not the defense, it's the playcalling. If it's not the playcalling, the kicker misses. If the kicker doesn't miss, it's the QB. Whatever it is, we never put it together and I'm just so defeated watching this unentertaining product. Even 5-6 years ago, we weren't very good but we could see progress. Now? Nothing. I was talking with my dad at the last game and we were trying to recall all the good memories we've had of watching the team play at IGF. My fondest ****ing memory is the game where Jason Boltus somehow managed to throw a pass backwards and I laughed at how pathetic we were. That's the only positive memory I have of IGF. Some "so bad it's funny" bull**** that only the Bombers could pull off. That's not how I want to remember Bomber football. At Canad Inns? I remember the TD record. I remember Khari Jones instilling confidence in a fanbase that knew even if we were down going into the fourth quarter, we sure as **** had a chance to win - a good chance. I remember the Stegall 4 catch, 4 TD game. I remember the Thanksgiving comeback. I remember Swaggerville coming up into Section S to celebrate with the fans after a Eastern Final win against Hamilton when Chris Garrett ran over, around and by everything near him in the snow. Remember watching football in the snow? Not at IGF, because our lockers are cleaned out by then.
Remember when we fired Doug Berry because making the playoffs 3 years in a row but not winning a Grey Cup was unacceptable? Can you imagine making the playoffs 3 years in a row now? I'd kill for it. I can't remember the last time I actually had to pay for my playoff ticket because it's been carried over from the previous year for what? I dunno, 5 years now? Another 5 before that? Who even knows at this point. All I know is I can't subject myself to this garbage anymore. I just laugh. What else am I supposed to do? Getting mad doesn't do anything. It's not worth investing the effort. The team sure doesn't. All I know is I've gone from a fan who would've missed my mom's birthday to listen to a Bomber radio broadcast through a broken walkie talkie to a fan who literally would rather stay at home so he can go pull weeds after we get run outta the building in the first quarter. We ****ing stink. And I can't be bothered to care anymore.

We're here because that's where you steered the thread.  For someone so sick of it, you oddly bring it up when it's not even an issue. This isn't "PC garbage" like acceptable language towards gays, women and minorities.
This is well documented, repeated, spousal abuse. On multiple women.  It's not about political correctness, it's being about being a decent f*cking human being and not beating your wife.
And no one, at least as far as I can tell, is diminishing at all what Hull's on ice accomplishments are - they're asking, legitimately so IMO, what if any of the person's character should be brought up when honouring them as heroes.
How that's not worth even honestly discussing, is beyond me.  Some are able to.  "No I don't think a person's character should come into play" or "You're honouring the person, who they are as a person matters".  Fine points, good debate.
It's the name calling, insults etc that are childish and offer nothing to the conversation.  Don't want to have the conversation? Fine, don't.  No one will care!  It's the thinking that you're contributing, when offering nothing but insults, that grows tiresome.

And you can't just point at Hull and say this was some kind of deviant behavior for players of that era. A lot of players in that era were functioning alcoholics, and yet there was no help available, as no one wanted to even admit there was a problem.   If Hull were playing today, he'd be whisked away to treatment (but it would be called an "injury" like certain current Jets we can't name) and he'd be given the help he needed that he couldnt get back in his playing days. It's easy to judge people if you don't look at the entire big picture.
I apologize if I offended some people here but this foolish Hull-bashing got me a little hot.

If by social mores you mean, for example, smoking in the car with kids or a pregnant lady smoking, driving home after "just a few" drinks, or perhaps disciplining your kids with spanking and/or the belt on a regular basis, then I can see your point about looking past Hull's flaws.  Even the lack of help for alcoholics back then is a decent point.  But multiple instances of felony assault and threatening his spouse with a shotgun wasn't something that could be overlooked in the 70s let alone now, and it certainly isn't a social mores issue.  He should have gotten arrested and had his day in court.  But I'll wager much like many athletes today it was overlooked and ignored because he was Bobby Hull.
For his play Hull deserves the Jets HOF, and since it's been established a player's off ice activities don't affect his getting in or not Hull will get in.  And he should.  Amazing player who is a big reason why the NHL is here.  But I think a lot of us have on our rose coloured glasses when it comes to Hull because he was one of ours.

The mentally destroyed QB is one of the problems, so we should get rid of him and address the other issues. I would actually argue that while other areas of the team have improved (still work to be done, of course), Willy has regressed.

Drew Willy has officially lost me.
At this point, he's the problem. No, the OL is not perfect - but they are the best unit we've had in years. No, the receivers are not always making the great catches, but they're a strong group that we could win with. Andrew Harris? Working his tail off.
None of that means anything when Willy is not making the throws he needs to make. He's mentally shattered at this point and you can see it in his actions in the pocket - any time he gets a moment to actually think about a play, he blows it. Ask him to complete a quick three step drop and fire? He's going to be on the money, but you can't do that up and down the field and expect to win football games. He has yet to hit a receiver IN STRIDE over 20 yards this year and we're four games in. He has no touch on the deep ball this year at all. He can't escape even intermediate levels of pressure in the pocket.
He's been absolutely horrible and at this point, for the first time in three years, I'm starting to think of things like "what's it going to take to get James Franklin here?" instead of wondering what we can do to help our franchise QB. We don't have a franchise QB anymore.

Am I & other Bomber fans supposed to be impressed with Willy's 226 yard passing performance in the 4th quarter last night? This is how Willy plays football. He gets his stats when the game is over & then MOS will trot out to the media & says some thing stupid like it gives the Bombers some positives to build on. Just shake my head when it comes to this team. The leadership out of the quarterback position is pathetic. You can see the guys on offense don't believe in Willy & they play like it when it counts. Nothing is going to change there are as long as Drew is the starter.

yeah, that Stanford story is shitty and heartbreaking -- but in the past, I'm not sure it would have been a national story, it just would have quietly gone away, so there's that.

Not to worry, he'll bring his A-game on Friday. The whole team will bring 110%. They're learning the systems, they're putting in hours. They really like what Coach has in the playbook. They're looking to feed off the energy of loudest crowd in the CFL.

I am shocked, shocked, shocked to hear that athletes are speaking to the media in rote cliches. When did this start happening?
Never mind his skill as a public speaker or interview subject -- what I really want to know is, how good a machinist is he? Because if he can't move his hands precisely enough to make a candlestick on a lathe that may mean he lacks the physical dexterity to play quarterback in the CFL.  And what about Khalil Bass's guitar chops? If he can't crush Stairway to Heaven how can he crush running backs?
