  1. Of course I'd still say our OL is in better shape than Edmonton's. They are REALLY struggling. Reilly is getting killed out there.
  2. Hey now, Creehan was a real good linebacker coach, there's no issues with him getting the DC job in Hamilton because as a positional coach he was successful so he took the next step. He failed at that next step but that doesn't mean hiring him for it was completely ridiculous. Yeah, I agree. If paying your dues as a defensive assistant for 8 years in the CFL on some really good defences isn't enough to get a shot as a defensive coordinator, then I don't know what is. It didn't turn out great but you can't just say that a guy must have CFL defensive coordinator experience in order to get hired as a CFL DC... or else there would be no new DC's.
  3. With Etienne and Kohlert both likely out for the next game, I would suggest starting 4 import receivers (hello Mike Sims-Walker) and bringing Pencer onto the roster and starting 4 non-import OL.
  4. If he is healthy, they would be stupid not to get him in the lineup to at least see what he can do.
  5. He made their PR though
  6. No, because Kohlert is injured
  7. We'd be a championship team if it wasn't for Goltz.
  8. The o line is horrible. We have two serviceable OL and the other 3 are the worst at their position in the league. Which team would take Sorensen, Morley, Swiston, Boatman, or Douglas as starters? Not one.
  9. Ask Chris Matthews. I bet some of the shine has come off for him after this season, deserved or not.
  10. This is nothing more than just motivational talk masquerading as wisdom. Unless he can block, throw and catch at the same time, Goltz is reliant on others around to help him succeed. There are things he can control, clearly, and needs to do so to have success. That does not mean if he doesn't thrive in this gong show on Sunday he can't become more than what he currently is. Sorry, it must be those motivational websites I spend all day reading. But wouldn't you agree that if he wins this game it could jumpstart his career like no other game could? I see an opportunity for a young guy. I know it looks bleak but these are still all pro football players who have all won games in the past, and they've now got a couple weeks in Bellefeuille's offence. It won't be easy but he'll be right in the conversation with Collaros and BLM as the "next big thing" if he pulls out a big game.
  11. You said last, not me. And hey, if he WINS, then there can't really be any debate, can there? I believe my sarcastically written comment indicates that maybe judging Goltz on wins and losses isn't completely fair, seeing as everyone including him will have to share in the blame. I fail to see how any young QB can succeed in this scenario, but that won't stop fans from burying Goltz (and then Hall, once he gets the nod again). Great QBs thrive on adversity. Mediocre QBs make excuses and beg for patience.

  13. I've batted around the idea of doing something like this before. Have you ever done anything like this in the past? I've never done any highway riding and I'm concerned about how safe it really is. Also what do you do about the nights? Is it possible to plan it so that you end every day near a hotel or do you camp out somewhere?
  14. Goltz gets one more chance to prove he can be the guy... Darren Cameron ‏@Darren_Cameron2m @JustinGoltz will start Sunday in Regina. #Bombers.
  15. Ok but how about when you're throwing 50% in practice and in games? Then what? If he's not improving in practice then he's not going to get any better in games. Please. I've been to practice and training camp dozens of times over the last 3 years and he looks the same as he did on day one. Overthrows and underthrows the most balls of any QB we've had here in that time. It's naive to think it will get better by playing in games. Well then if he's looked the same to you then I guess that's settled. I will definitely not believe the other reports that Goltz has improved, since you have now clearly said he hasn't. Believe what you want to believe... I really don't care. I know what I've seen and the coaches' reluctance to start Goltz backs it up. Our coaches are definitely known to make smart decisions on personnel. Well then if that's the case then I guess that's settled. I will definitely not believe that the coaches have any kind of insight into who is a good football player and who isn't, since you have now clearly said they don't.
  16. Well it sounds like we're going to get another look either way. Kirk Penton ‏@PentonKirk6m Justin Goltz running the first-team offence, and Aaron Kelly in at receiver. #Bombers
  17. where is this coming from? This was still his first contract right? 2+1 as opposed to 1+1 no? Yes that's correct. There was no extension. The letter is simply to inform the player/agent that the team is picking up the option year. The player/agent does not have to agree to it because they already agreed to it when the contract was signed.

  20. Getting Goltz to be more accurate is something that can be coached in practice. I'm thinking that they don't have the patience for it right now. The sense of urgency is still there with the coaches, even though it really shouldn't be anymore. He's been here for 3 years and his accuracy hasn't improved at all... how long are they supposed to wait? We all know how much game experience he has in those 3 years. Not much. It's not time to give up on him just yet. What does game experience have to do with accuracy? That's the one thing you can work on while running the scout team and even in the off-season with whoever he wants to throw the ball to. Playing in games won't make him throw a more accurate ball.

  22. Hopefully this incident will inspire the league to start operating more like a legitimate pro sports league and less like Hollywood Upstairs Medical College
  23. Ford has been beyond useless this season. I'd rather give reps to Anthony Woodson.
  24. Great movie!
  25. Really it is the CFL's fault for not following their own rules.
