  1. This isn't true. He's on record as saying, as recently as last year, he really wanted the job in Winnipeg. Not sure where you got this.
  2. How about sticking with Walters as GM and Moll as player personnel director? I feel like Moll has done his job pretty well. I like that Walters has experience as a player, as a coach, as an AGM, and running a college football program. He might be a better fit than people think.
  3. Jesus just pull the trigger. Now the team sits on this "recommendation" for a week before doing it? God I hate this organization sometimes. Zero leadership.
  4. Troll? Different opinion == troll? Didn't know that.
  5. Look, I know you're the resident "defend the indefensible" guy, but unfortunately the numbers don't lie and you're left grasping at straws in a vain attempt to hold on to the little hope left for this season. Goltz might be a better QB someday but not yet.
  6. I don't think we'll see Pierce again but I agree that we'll be seeing Hall. Burke pretty much gave it away that they're going to try to start getting Hall into the games. If Goltz can't start putting up wins, I bet we'll be seeing Hall start by the Banjo Bowl.
  7. This is about who is better now, not who is better in 2 years. Your remark that one has more experience than the other is completely irrelevant. This is about who is better right now. And brilliant move with the "Ok Pierce's accuracy is higher, but let's just say they're equal." I mean, I don't even know how to argue that. Why don't you just come right out and say "Pierce is better but let's just call it equal." That's about all I'm seeing from your fantasy world argument. Even better - "Goltz makes less mistakes." Wow, you must have a pretty intimate knowledge of the playbook to be able to make that claim. Very bold.
  8. True but even on a bad day those guys aren't finishing games with less than 50% of their passes completed. Yes Goltz is young. But improvement isn't guaranteed. All we can really say is that he's not there yet... maybe someday you can talk about him in the same vein as Glenn, Burris or Durant, but he's not there yet. Not by a long shot.
  9. Sure. But people might be wise not to get too excited about Goltz. I remember watching him in training camp a couple years ago thinking "Wow, this guy has a lot of tools, I bet he could be good if he can ever hone his accuracy." Because he was overthrowing guys as often as he was hitting them. A couple years later, he still looks pretty much the same as he did then. I'm sure he's improved in other areas, especially mentally, but if anyone thinks he's going to shake his accuracy issues any time soon... well don't hold your breath.
  10. Agreed. Just trying to throw some cold water on the people who think Goltz is suddenly a better QB than Pierce. Goltz is a better option because he's not a band-aid and he has upside. Not because he's a better QB right now.
  11. Tough to throw TDs when the offence calls for a running play any time we're within ten yards of the endzone. There's a reason the Bombers lead the league in rushing TD's. And it's not because we have a deadly running game. His TD numbers would obviously be higher if they had him throw in that area.
  12. Buck has more yards per completion and a higher completion percentage. The numbers don't lie, sorry guys. I know you all hate Buck Pierce but Pierce being bad doesn't equal Goltz being good. Sorry, doesn't work that way.
  13. Now you're changing the argument. I'm talking about right now, not how he projects in the future (which you and I have no way of knowing).
  14. 60.4% vs 57.7% accuracy. Receivers have dropped passes from both. As far as decision making, fast doesn't always equal right. Can't believe I have to explain that. Goltz had the lowest gain per pass in the league in that last game because he continues to throw it too early.
  15. Buck's still more accurate than Goltz, better decision maker, too. Those things may come in time for Goltz. Or they may not.
  16. Selanne's still a free agent
  17. What article are you referring to? I'm not sure I get what you're saying.
  18. I'm sure no one wants to hear it but if Buck Pierce played last night... we probably win.
  19. I thought Jovon Johnson had a really solid game.
  20. It sucks having such a poor team but it sucks even more that everyone knows how to fix it but it's just not happening. We've all been saying it for years now. A QB, a couple good OL, and an experienced OC. Over the last few years, we've seen Ray, Burris, and Glenn change teams. We've seen Saskatchewan, Calgary, and Toronto completely rebuild their offensive lines. We've seen Saskatchewan pick up George Cortez to fix their offence, and Toronto get Scott Milanovich for theirs. How come the Bombers have not made a single big move to fix their glaring weaknesses when everyone and their dog recognizes what those weaknesses are? Why such a lack of action? In 2010 we started building with a mandate to build through the draft and establish continuity. Well we've certainly done that, and all it has given us is losses. I'll never stop being a fan (unless they hire Tillman), but it's just so disheartening.
  21. Followed by... http://www.rodpedersen.com/2013/08/the-monday-morning-goalie.html?m=0 * To clarify a point in Friday's column -- the Blue Bombers are NOT actively pursuing Eric Tillman as their next GM. However the rumour stands that he COULD be in line for the job. A few have told me Bomber President Garth Buchko is good friends with Eskimo President Len Rhodes and therefore this scenario would never happen.Ummmmm, so what? The Eskimos are the model franchise now? And the Bombers can afford tobe choosy with their track record?Just sayin'.
  22. http://www.rodpedersen.com/2013/08/friday-rodservations.html?m=0 * With Thursday's demotion of starting quarterback Buck Pierce in Winnipeg, the wolves are starting to line up at Bomber GM Joe Mack's door. The rumour persists that the Bombers may look to Eric Tillman as their next GM. That suggestion was floated in this space some time ago but was scoffed at by Winnipeg media types. Don't be so sure. However another name has been circulating regarding the imminent GM opening in Winnipeg and it belongs to current Roughrider assistant GM Jeremy O'Day.
  23. I thought they lost Angus Reid too but I guess he has been out all season. Still, Kabongo - Norman - Valli is just about as weak an interior OL as the Bombers will face this season.
  24. Things working in the Bombers' favour - BCs OL is depleted and Winnipeg's d line is solid. Things working against the Bombers - Everything else... Here we go...
