I don't blame Campbell, I still think he is one of the best young coaches in the game. I think the Redblacks offence owes their impotence to a lack of quality receivers and runningbacks and an offensive coordinator who was past his best before date 5 years ago. The defence is relatively competitive. I don't know what Desjardins is thinking, but no way I would fire Campbell after this season. But Desjardins might, because I believe he may be a moron.

Its not that simple. How do you know McDavid and Eichel are comparable to Crosby/Tavares? They are certainly hyped as much, but I'll wait to see them in the NHL to make that judgment. Right now, I would say neither one will ever be as good as Crosby or Tavares. Besides, there is no guarantee we would even get them. The lottery has been adjusted, and even with your trades I don't see us being worse than Buffalo or Edmonton. Could end up with the third or fourth pick. Not quite the same impact. As far as Ehlers, Petan and Morrissey.... I hope they are ready to contribute next year but I wouldn't count on it. IMO Morrissey and Petan both looked at least 2 years away, and I'm not sure either will ever be the stars we are hoping they turn into. We'll see about Ehlers, he might be ready next season depending on how much he grows this year.... He is certainly our best prospect.

Jacquie and iso are both right. Jacquie, those are the standard definition channel listings, and iso, those are the same channels we get TSNHD on here in Winnipeg. The five TSN feeds were provided for free to all Shaw customers until October 15, when the free preview ended. After that, you will only have TSN2 (the national TSN feed) and TSN3 (the regional feed for Winnipeg). Generally, TSN3 will show CFL games, but the Jets games take precedence when they are at the same time as CFL games. If you want TSN1, TSN4, and TSN5, you have to pay 3 dollars a month for the sports package. This will also give you Sportsnet Pacific and Sportsnet Ontario.

I can objectively say they are better than any AHL team that has ever existed. Aren't doctors supposed to be a little more rational than that?

I won't be surprised if Brohm throws 3 interceptions, I really won't. I'm sure there will be no controversy.

MPI gives me far better rates than the company that I work for (that sells auto insurance in the US). Not sure where this myth comes from. It really all depends. I don't know what MPI charges anymore but I know when I moved to Alberta being an under 25 male I got hammered on my rates. Hit 25 though and it's not so bad with a clean record. I think the issue with MPI is that they seem to turn a pretty healthy profit, they could probably stand to lower their rates. A lot of people don't really like to see crown corporations earning a profit would rather see discounted rates. Yea this is the big thing, MPI doesn't adjust rates based on age (except indirectly via merit points). As a 20-something, I'm paying a little over 1k a month for my 2012 car with a $200 deductible. I'd be paying quite a bit more to a private insurer. A little over 1k a month??? That can't be right...

Petan Injured In Headhunting Incident
Atomic replied to The Unknown Poster's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
I think he is fine now. He is traveling with the team. -
Gotta cheer for the Riders in this one. We are not going to catch them, but the Als could prevent us from taking the crossover.

Got a funny feeling we see a blowout today. 48-19 Bombers

The NDP under Doer was actually a good government, IMO. The NDP under Selinger has been an unmitigated disaster. If I had to choose between Katz and Selinger to lead a government, I still choose Katz. He is a sheister but Selinger is a buffoon.

I wouldn't count on Lowry generating much offence. Keep in mind he only had 33 points in St. John's last season, and didn't really produce much here during the pre-season. I think he's a good player and I like what he has shown so far but I just hope people's expectations for him aren't too high.

Worst group of candidates we've had in my lifetime, IMO. I will probably vote for Robert-Falcon Ouellette. Not that I think he has any chance of winning.

Lawless: Bombers need to sign Ben Heenan
Atomic replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I think the more realistic situation is the Riders dump Picard to afford Heenan. Then we can pick up Picard and Tim O'neill and continue on with a terrible OL. It's the Bomber way. -
I don't know, 2009 has turned out to be a pretty weak draft year.... Not many players outside the top 10 picks have really made names for themselves yet. I'm betting Klingberg will get a shot on the Jets' fourth line at some point this season so we'll see how that goes.

January and Jarvis Jones were both horrendous last night

This is really the thing for me.....we've had some of the league's all-time worst teams over the last decade, and the fans STILL sell the place out. The Riders would be lucky to get 20k with those teams. The difference between Bombers fans and Riders fans, is we have more "die hards", but less "casuals". The Riders have WAY MORE casual fans than any other franchise and maybe even more than some NHL franchises in Canada. They're the ones who buy the merch because it's "cool" to do so right now. They badly need another extended run of Al Ford years to thin out their ranks a little and shut them up but good...Wrong. With a good football team, how many sellouts have you had this season when the Riders weren't in town? Zip.With a bad football team, many sellouts did the Riders have in 2011 when we went 5-13? 5 is the correct answer. That said, no question the Bombers have thousands of diehard fans. The numbers however suggest otherwise when comparing how many of each franchise. Take for example last season, the top 12 attended games throughout the entire season all involved the Riders. This year we have soldout the past 3 home games, were at 99% capacity for game 2 & 3 had had 31K sold for our home opener which took place during a severe flood. Add to that the Riders have helped give Wpg, Vancouver, Edmonton, & soon to be Calgary their biggest home crowds this season. It's ok for you to claim the Bombers have more diehard fans however even though the Numbers aren't in your favour. Cheers. Sure but you're only looking at the last few years, because the first century of your team's existence was an embarrassment. Rider floozy.

Yikes what's with all the Rider fans in here? Someone left the barn door open?

Id sign Hunt befofre Hall... The. i'd sign Hall. That said, defence isnt the issue.

Etch's scheme gives a chance to win every game. We have the talent in the secondary and on the d line but our lb corps is lacking. This is still a rebuilding year, as much as everyone doesnt want to hear that. Shalom

Do you think Cheveldayoff is doing a good job?
Atomic replied to Atomic's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Well, that would kind of depend on what is coming back the other way. Absolutely. But Buff is subject to the laws of diminising returns. His size and age work against him. He's still one of the best offensive D-men in the NHL and probably the most unique player, the only bonafide hybrid player currently (regular Offensive player and Defensemen on Special Teams). There has long been rumours of teams being very interested in him which would presume that the return would be significant. So trade him. By the time Buff's skills put the Jets over the top, his skills wont put the Jets over the top. If that makes sense...he's our most tradeable asset. Yeah, you make a good point. Especially if we are out of the race by trade deadline time... I can see Buff being a really attractive piece for a team gearing up for a playoff run. Nobody needs to be reminded of Buff's impact in the playoffs for Chicago all those years ago. But I am a big-time Byfuglien fan and I'd hate to see him go... hopefully we are good enough this year that we aren't having a fire-sale at the deadline. Buff's impact was as a third line winger... Hmm you'll have to finish that thought. Not sure what you're getting at. -
We can send the youtube footage out on the field if necessary. Still more likely to win then boltus I'll never forgive Marcel B. for his decision to continually use Boltus on short yardage when Goltz was sitting on the bench sulking. That decision was beyond stupid and is as much on Marcel as it is on Burke. Unless it was solely Burke's decision. And judging by his tendency to hold grudges against his players, I believe that is a strong possibility.
