- Pav is starting to lose, back to Hutch ...
Buffalo is the worst team in the league. Their current starter has a .923 SV%. Neuvirth had a .918 SV% with the Sabres before he was traded. They both have better SV%'s than the Ducks starter. Weren't you just lecturing about small sample sizes a few posts ago?- Pav is starting to lose, back to Hutch ...
Common sense says a good goalie will have confidence. A shitty goalie on a good team could easily played scared trying not to screw it up for the team. Example: Patrick Lalime & the Senators. I'm not an advanced stats guy, nor am I discounting quality of shots. I just think that SV% is the best stat available to determine the quality of play for a goalie. It is the best stat, yes, but still flawed.- Canada does not want Henry Burris...
What's with the flip flop? You've always been a huge Burris supporter in the past.- Pav is starting to lose, back to Hutch ...
I didn't post it for the stats, I posted it to show that shot quality is not as irrelevant as some would have you believe. What you don't realize is that because shot quality pokes a big hole in Corsi/Fenwick reliability, the advanced stats supporters have been fighting against recognizing shot quality for years and trying to make it seem illegitimate. But the numbers say different. And there are intangible factors at play as well. A goalie playing behind a better team has more confidence, which allows him to play better. Again, common sense.- Pav is starting to lose, back to Hutch ...
Yeah they have been better, Halak played for Montreal and the Blues, while Hiller spent his career with the Ducks. You don't think that makes a difference?Talking save percentage. Not goals against average. So? Quality of shots against makes a difference... a goalie playing for Edmonton will naturally have a lower save percentage than one playing for Anaheim. Just common sense. That's not correct. Worse teams typically give up more shots on goal but the quality of shots is an incorrect assumption.lol based on what? Some online article from 2 years ago by a 19 year old stats student? You need to consider your sources. Shot quality makes a huge difference and there are several people doing research into it right now. It is ignored to some degree by the advanced stats crowd because they can't quantify it easily, but make no mistake, the difference is there.GAA is widely accepted as a team stat and save percentage is considered an individual goalie stat. And if you want to consider the eye test, well I can tell you over the past few years Pavelec typically lets in one soft goal per game and his technique and positioning is considered terrible. Eye test is irrelevant because you have no idea what you're talking about. "Widely accepted" doesn't fly with me. "Widely accepted" just means the majority believe what someone told them and repeat it like parrots. Read the downloadable PDF found here: http://hockeyanalytics.com/2012/02/defense-independent-goaltender-ratings/ You might learn something.- Pav is starting to lose, back to Hutch ...

The term "league average goalie" keeps getting tossed around. What's the criteria? Greater than a certain save percentage? What's the mark?- Darren Cameron's blog on the CFL draft
I wonder if we could snag Kienan Lafrance in the 4th round. That would be a great pickup.- Sure, why not. Whatever. WWE Network and Wrestlemania
How does one go about becoming a professional wrestler?- Around the CFL Offseason Discussion
With Stoudermire, Randle, and Bucknor, there is just no room for Burnett. Maybe at field HB he would have a shot at replacing Bruce Johnson but IIRC the Esks tried Burnett at HB and it didn't work out. He will sign with Ottawa.- Bombers Sign INT OT Zebrie Sanders
I honestly think Peach is the better DE. I believe he could put up double digit sacks in Richie Hall's system.- No natter what the ruling, Jay Harrison may be the better defensive option for the Jets going forward
Harrison has demonstrated multiple times he is a defensive liability in our own zone. Just because a guy isn't good offensively doesn't mean he is good defensively. Sometimes a guy just isn't that good. Harrison is a fine 7th D-man but he's not taking anyone's job.- Bombers Sign INT OT Zebrie Sanders
We already have lots of American DL. I wouldn't expect too many more on the roster before training camp unless they are planning on cutting some loose. Maybe 2 or 3 new ones. I wouldn't be surprised or disappointed if Peach is still starting for us, but Vega's spot should be up for grabs.- Darren Cameron's blog on the CFL draft
Could we perhaps move the 15th for two of Calgary's third rounders? Would this be a sound decision?- Bombers Sign INT OT Zebrie Sanders
Nobody is judging him by one play, it's just a funny video that had to be posted. It is one of the first things that comes up on Google when you search his name.- Pav is starting to lose, back to Hutch ...
In what universe did Byfuglien have one side defended??? He was out of the play. Being able to tap a guy with the end of your stick from 3 feet behind doesn't mean one side is defended.- Bombers Sign INT OT Zebrie Sanders
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announce today the club has signed International offensive tackle Zebrie Sanders. Sanders (6-6, 320, Florida State, December 4, 1989 in Columbia, South Carolina) was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the 5th round of the 2012 NFL Draft, after spending from four seasons with the Florida State Seminoles. He was on the Bills injured list in 2012 and was released in training camp of 2013. Sanders started 50 career games at Florida State, the second most in the history of the school. He was selected All-ACC Conference as a senior in 2011.- Pav is starting to lose, back to Hutch ...
Definitely not a Pavelec supporter myself but gbill you clearly do not understand what it means when people say a goalie is out of position. If a goalie bites on a deke on a breakaway, that is not the time to say he was out of position. That is just not the correct use of that term.- Sure, why not. Whatever. WWE Network and Wrestlemania
I thought it was fantastic from start to finish. The ending was incredible. That was a really, really good Wrestlemania.- Game 75: Habs @ Jets
C'est incroyable- Game 73: Jets @ Oilers
Never mind "hit of the year", Byfuglien has the whole "top 5 hits of the year" locked up.... maybe top 10. - Pav is starting to lose, back to Hutch ...
