Als Sign Michael Sam to two year deal
Atomic replied to Bomber_fanaddict's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
That contract seems out of line for an unproven import. It looks like the Als are playing the publicity card for all it's worth. That's what I thought. I wonder if his teammates will harbour resentment that they're having to work towards that size of a contract and he gets it without proving anything. Lots of Americans enter the league with big contracts, we just don't hear about it. Somewhere along the line, some fans decided all Americans enter the CFL on minimum contracts but it's just not true. Sam's contract is pretty similar to the one we gave Chad Simpson a few years ago. If a team really likes an American and he doesn't want to come north, what do you think happens? The offer goes up. That's what happened here. Don't worry, he didn't get a big bonus for being gay, you can relax. -
Bombers Add international DL Kheeston Randall

6'5" 310?? Can he play offensive tackle too? What a tank! -
WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announce today the addition of International defensive lineman Kheeston Randall. Randall (6-5, 310, Texas, May 7, 1990, in Beaumont, Texas) was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the seventh round of the 2012 NFL Draft, playing in 12 games in 2012, and recording eight tackles. He also spent time with Minnesota and Cincinnati. Randall played four seasons at Texas. During his career, he started 35 of 47 games, recording 98 tackles and four sacks. http://www.bluebombers.com/article/bombers-add-dl-kheeston-randall

I don't think we need him. He may land in Toronto.

Als Sign Michael Sam to two year deal
Atomic replied to Bomber_fanaddict's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Read an interesting article yesterday from Michael Coren. Coren is pretty much the hero of the Christian conservative, if you don't know who he is. And even he has admitted that he is no longer against gay marriage. I think it's only the most staunch, intolerant type of Christian who actually has trouble with gay people anymore. -
Tim Cronk, long snapper and fullback who has played for the Lions and Riders. I don't particularly like him but we need a long snapper and the only alternative at the moment appears to be Fitzgerald. And he's not very good at it. There might be one or two more long-snappers coming in soon. Yeah, that's what I'm expecting

One less Braley team in the league

I believe Bell owns approximately 20% of MTS. -

Would you be saying the same thing if he was the first black man in the CFL? -
I asked myself today, "If the season started tomorrow, who would be the 21 Canadians on the roster?" Assuming Richards and Wagonner both sign. This is what I came up with: 3 DL - Westerman, Brown, Thomas 4 LB - Hurl, Wagonner, Newman, Briggs 3 DB - Bucknor, Jones, Morgan 4 OL - Greaves, Picard, Neufeld, Chungh 3 WR - Kohlert, Feoli-Gudino, Richards 2 FB - Pontbriand, Cronk 1 RB - Normand 1 PK - Hajrullahu ------ 21 There were some tough decisions to make. However most of the remaining guys will still end up with the team in some way... on the reserve list, practice roster, or injured lists. Here are the guys who didn't quite make the cut: DL - Richardson LB - Warden DB - Sherman, West OL - Goossen, Everett, Griffiths WR - Bastien, Millington, Reaves FB - Fitzgerald, Lattanzio Of course this is all just my opinion. Let's hear what you think.... too many linebackers, not enough receivers? Too many fullbacks, not enough defensive backs? Morgan making the team over Sherman? Am I drunk? It's 9 a.m! But I haven't slept in days.

I'd be disappointed if we brought back Burmi. He was mediocre here and he is not even good in the KHL, a league that counts Nigel Dawes, Jonathan Cheechoo, and Dustin Boyd among their leading scorers. Let some other team deal with him.

Edmonton should be trading high draft picks at this point. That's one way to acquire good players.
-
Somewhere around 10-8 to 12-6 with a Grey Cup appearance. Anything less would be uncivilized.
-
Walters said after the draft that they are going into training camp tentatively with eight Canadian starters on the depth chart. I don't see that changing. 3 OL, 2 WR, 1 DL, 1 LB, 1 DB.
-
Fair enough. Why? His size and testing numbers indicate that he will potentially make a hell of a weak-side linebacker in the CFL. I believe that he could also play safety but that teams value a Canadian linebacker more than they value a Canadian safety (supply-and-demand), so the Bombers will do everything they can to make him work at that spot. Furthermore Richie Hall has a history of always using an import at safety and we have a really good one. The Bombers are clearly committed to starting a Canadian corner as well and it seems unlikely to me that they would start two Canadians in the secondary.
-
Not necessarily. He may be taking Bucknor or JFGs spot as a starter. Further to that, he is not taking the spot of an American, he would be allowing us to put a veteran import elsewhere in the lineup. Hurl's job is not the one on the line. He won't play safety in the CFL. Unless your name is Mike O'Shea or Richie Hall you are completely unqualified to make that statement. My opinion is that he won't play safety in the CFL

Sherman is borderline, Hurl is borderline, Bucknor is 30 (old for a CB), none of the rest have shown they can start. And you forgot Westerman and Thomas.
-
I don't see us starting a Canadian at safety. Let's just slow down. We didn't just draft a starter, and if we did, he is taking the spot of Hurl, not an American.

TL; DR version - The Bombers have their reasons, they have done nothing wrong, now shut up and wait until the Bombers say it's okay to cheer.

Babcock was reportedly strongly interested in acquiring Phaneuf at the trade deadline so I imagine he will stick around at least.

Yeah... I believe they all are.
