  1. They've got just as much depth as most other teams. If you're comparing them to the Alouettes, Ticats or Stampeders, yeah they're worse and they got a worse ranking. But if you compare them to the teams below them, including BC and Winnipeg, I think it's a fair ranking. Unless you think the Bombers have fantastic depth all of a sudden But I'm not quite ready to believe that.... I think the Bombers absolutely have more depth in terms of guys that are actual CFL level players. Inexperience is a factor. Beyond their starters the Riders don't have much, and many of their starters have lost entire seasons or nearly entire seasons to injuries already in their careers. Come on! We're looking at starting Hurl, JFG, and Bucknor, now which one of those guys would start on any other team? And our depth is totally raw. Goossen, Briggs, Waggonner, D. Jones, Sherman, Bastien. These guys are "actual CFL level players" and the Riders don't have that? The Riders have their own group of players like that. Watman, Demski, Haidara, MacDougall, Vonk, Steinhauer. Equal depth and better starters means a higher grade. Everyone who thinks the Riders are going to take a dive this season are going to be pretty disappointed.

  3. I'm glad you're up to date on your reading.Right off the bat, you might notice the name Drew Edwards. The Grey Cup odds are from the same article. The rest of the mumble-jumble are bits and pieces from around the league. Nowhere am I claiming credit for any information It's odd that you think I would try to "steal" this info when it is readily out there. My only purpose was to gather information and share it with whomever was interested. Perhaps, next time, my time would be better spent waiting for you to fill the gap. If you've even paid the slightest attention to information I supply, more times than not, I've given the source. But, don't worry, it won't happen again. Is this a poem? If it is, he's a ******* brutal poet
  4. That's really more of a non-move
  5. They still have Labatte, Best, Emry, Getzlaf, Bagg, Messam... Pretty good core of Canadians.Messam and Emry are marginal or worse. And yet still better than what we have. AKA a non existent Canadian running back and Sam Hurl until proven otherwise. Gotta love the people saying Getzlaf and Bagg are on the wrong side of 30 then pointing at Picard as a reason why our Canadians are improving. Can't have it both ways. The TSN grades are fair. We have lots of potentially great Canadians but until they prove it on the field you can't expect anyone to give the Bombers anything more than a barely passable grade.

  7. I would have liked to see him stick around on the practice roster. Give him some reps at receiver, give him some reps at QB if one of the other 4 get injured and maybe we could see what we have. He's an athletic Canadian with an obvious mind for football. I find it weird that of our 3 Canadians on the practice roster, 2 are fullbacks. I guess it's all about special teams ability but I would like to see a Canadian skill position player developed there, Yantz or otherwise.
  8. It's an inexperienced linebacking corps and I'm not sure there is really any other way to look at it. Doesn't necessarily mean that they'll be bad but there is a definite lack of experience and that has hurt teams before.
  9. Brad Mikoluff #74. He still has eligibility for the Rifles, so if the Bombers like him, they can keep him as a non-counter all year. He is able to practise with the Bombers and play with the Rifles. It's a nice insurance deal for the Bombers because if they need a punter in a pinch, they can sign and dress him and he already knows the playbook, the players, and the coaches. This is a special deal open to all CJFL players who didn't play CIS. Each CFL team can have up to 4 local junior players in camp under this program. I suspect that the Bombers will keep both Mikoluff and Braedy Will around this year. Self edit: If he does dress for a regular season game, he loses the special status. At that point he would have to sign a contract and be a "counter". The deal is nice for teams but can be a double edged sword for the players. Braedy Will has drawn real interest from other teams but the Bombers are allowed to keep his rights without signing him to a contract. Will could possibly be earning a paycheck with another team but because of the territorial rights that the Bombers hold, they can keep him around without paying him and not have to worry about other teams offering him a deal.

  11. Kirk Penton says the Bombers are taking a look at Jock Sanders, maybe to be the returner until Stoudermire comes back
  12. Do you mean b/c he's white? No, I don't see skin color when I look at people. You are obviously not as advanced as I am.
  13. Hurl looked more like Labbe than Muamba on Friday night. I hope it's not a sign of things to come.
  14. If true, that would be weak sauce on MB's part. One of the most effective backup situations, is when the #2 can throw defenses, a change up. If Marcel could or would not "change a lot of things" simply because of different styles of QB (which many other teams have handled in the past)........then we need another OC, here. Just because Marve is "#3" doesn't mean he can't come into games as a change of pace QB. I think we will see Marve more this season than the last.
  15. Randle Bass Burnett
  16. They also had Marve running the goal line package with the first team. Really can't see them cutting him.
  17. Marve's accomplishments occurred with under 6 minutes of playing time. Willy played an entire half + the first series of the third. I like Marve and I'd be shocked and disappointed if they let him go. But the fact is he was playing against third stringers running a prevent defence. Really hard to judge a QB in those circumstances. Of course it's better that he looked good than bad, but hard to say more than that.
  18. I'd say Kris Bastien was the biggest bright spot tonight. JFG looked good too. Really disappointed in our American running backs and receivers. Hopefully they look better when the season starts.
  19. Marve looked good but defence was really sitting back and giving him space by that point. My biggest concern would be he first team defence getting their asses handed to them tonight.

  24. Mark - I've toured factories (known as "sweat shops" to guilt-laden liberals) in Egypt, Myanmar and Cambodia. I can tell you this - if it wasn't for us horrible North Americans buying up goods manufactured by these "working poor" from these countries, they wouldn't be "working poor", they'd be dead and starving poor. When it comes down to options for these people, it's work in these factories, or sell their bodies. It's that basic. When I was in Myanmar, I asked what the skilled ladies running the machines were making, and they told me $5 a day, which of course, given the North American mindset, made me recoil in horror. But then they told me that these ladies were really well-paid, given the cost of living was low enough that they had money left over to help support their families. My guide in Myanmar told me he could feed his whole family, including wife, parents and kids, on $50 a month. So I gave him a tip of $50 US so he could feed them all for a month. He showed me his house, which was by North American standards just plain awful - no electricity, bamboo walls etc. but he and his wife were happy. Could it be better? Yup. But that's the thing. We'd be hurting these people much much more by boycotting their products then by continuing to buy them. They are extremely happy to have jobs, which wouldn't exist, without us horrible exploitive evil North Americans. It's a process, and it takes time. The reality is, it's not possible for everyone to live the way most North Americans do. I realizes it will take time, but we actually need to be happy with less so they can have a little more. 20% of the world's population consumes 80% of the resources. What you don't realize is they have to take more, we can't give it to them. There are countries that have risen out of "developing" status and it wasn't due to North American handouts. It was due to finally getting good leadership and finding ways to thrive.
