Around the League - Regular Season Discussion (Redux)

Saskatchewan.... where first-round busts go to finish their careers... -
LOL that's so ridiculous
-
There's an awful lot of talk about games being slowed down but for some reason they still seem to fit in the same 3-hour timeslot they always did.

You know a team is in trouble when... -
I can't emphasize enough that the CFL has taken an officiating problem, and placed it on the laps of the coaches. "Our problem?? No, no.... it's the coaches' fault."
-
I don't know. Just wait. When a team has a blatant missed catch and has to challenge to get it right, and then it happens AGAIN in a critical moment but the coaches can't challenge because they already used it on a legitimately bad call. I think that will make fans even more upset than what we've seen so far.
-
Remove challenges on illegal contact, but allow them for PI. If the rule cannot be enforced consistently, then it is not a well-defined rule and certainly not challengeable.
-
Terrible solution. Hate it. Reffing problems are at an all-time high and their solution is to remove the teams' ability to challenge bad calls. They couldn't have possibly got this more wrong and it won't take long to see why.

With Leggett, Fogg, and Johnson out, we were 3 deep into the secondary depth. Realistically Carmichael, Walker, and Porter should have never seen the field yet. Alexander should be confined to the field corner for now. But multiple injuries in one position group have put the team in a tough spot. How many other teams can start 3 rookies in the secondary and play mistake-free ball? Your expectations are way off.
-
They're 3-2. Theatrics? I think that's all on your end. Incredibly, the team is not perfect. Doesn't mean we start shipping out players, coaches, and management. You don't build a juggernaut overnight and I don't know why you'd expect to go from a perennial loser to number one in the league over the course of two seasons. It just doesn't work that way.

And if he goes for a behind-the-back TD and drops it? -
Bass isn't having a great year in Ottawa... only 3 more tackles than Sam Hurl, and Hurl has an INT while Bass has not forced any turnovers.

You don't think that predicting he will make a behind-the-back TD is boastful? -
Excellent idea, we will just go to the Perfect Player store and pick up 44 of them. Hell let's make it 50 just in case. Why can't we just be like the other 8 teams whose players never screw up?

I don't see how it proves anything either way. A win over Ottawa doesn't make the Bombers contenders and a loss doesn't mean they are pretenders. It's just another game against a decent team, on the road.

The ZA pizza in cityplace has their system moving pretty good. Big lineup there at lunch every day but the wait time is reasonable. Another good hidden gem is "Back at the Ranch" in Oakbank. The crust is kinda weird, like a pie crust, but it is very good pizza.

He has a habit of doing just that.

Pizza & Pasta Della Piazza. It's a hard name to remember, but the pizza is unforgettable! Love it. I'm surprised the thread has gone this far without mentioning Gondola. So good.

It wasn't a conscious decision but I realized have completely stopped consuming the traditional local media for sports coverage. It just adds nothing beyond what you can get from the team's social media and website. I can watch full press conferences rather than reading 400 words based around 2 or 3 quotes. I can watch highlights and game recaps on demand. I liked to read Kirk Penton's work but once he left the Sun, there was really nothing worth reading anymore.

Home opener this season would have been a sellout at Canad Inns so it's a tough comparison.
-
I watch PPV's and that's pretty much my entire usage. Very occasionally I will watch something from the archive or change the channel to WWE if there is literally nothing else on. I don't mind catching random matches from old PPVs sometimes.
-
Honestly I considered dropping the Network after Mania but ended up keeping it. I can see why people would want to. The best time for WWE is January-April. The rest of the year.... especially right now... can get pretty tedious. Battlegrounds was the low point of the year and I'm never really all that impressed with Summerslam.

Bombers @ Lions: Game Day Thread (07/21/17)
Atomic replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Yes... there's something else going on. It's not just identification of talent. Jonathan Jennings was in Rider camp before he was ever a Lion and by all accounts looked pretty pedestrian. Then Wally brings him in for a look, he earns the #3 job, and as a result of injuries to Lulay and John Beck, is suddenly the starter in his rookie year and lighting it up. Why?
