That's why there needs to be stronger rival promotions. If there is a legitimate threat of talent leaving, the talent has more power to call the shots. In my opinion.

So how do you know they can cut a promo if they never show it?

Around the League - Regular Season Discussion (Redux)
That may be true but that doesn't mean we're going to win every bidding war. And Wally needs Canadian talent... badly.

Let's keep in mind that Gray was always going to be a long-term project. "Project" usually means the player is not ready for NFL competition. And he isn't. That doesn't mean they give up on him. Maybe he shows up on our doorstep sooner rather than later but I'm not putting too much stock in pre-season performance.

This is just total insanity.

The Rock is the greatest talent to ever grace a WWE ring. Between him, Stone Cold, and DX, the entertainment value was through the roof every single week. Now we get a bunch of scrawny or fat guys who can't cut a promo but they're "great workers". And ratings are in the toilet.

As much as we've all been let down by Neufeld, when you see teams scrambling to pick up national OL (BC trying to poach PR's, signing Andrew Jones... Calgary trading for Dillon Guy... Montreal trading for Matt Vonk...), you know Neufeld would fetch a pretty decent price.

I could get on board with that, but you have to expect that several teams, such as the Lions, would also be making a hard push.

Sable is definitely up there as well. Right up with Jerry Lawler yelling "Puppies!!"

Might cast some shade, but that's not such a big deal, and a total non-issue at night.

I wonder how many other CFL players we would be able to say that about if they faced the same media scrutiny as Manziel.

That seems a little heavy-handed. A single accusation of domestic violence and you can never play in the league? Not a conviction, but an accusation? I'm not sure that's the right way to handle things.

This is a great point as well. McDuffie led the league in KO return average last year and didn't look like anything special in the couple games he's played for Ottawa this year... a full 7 yards lower per return, albeit in a small sample size. Is it the cover teams or the returner? I have a feeling that any of our other options would be putting up solid kick return averages as well.

Well. The Bombers are tied for second in terms of kickoff return average and Lankford is third among guys with 15 or more returns. So I have a hard time saying he's the best, statistically. And when I watch him return I'm not so sure he's the best either. He does well... But not the best. I think moving the offence consistently is more important than the 2-5 yards per return we may or may not lose by substituting someone else for Lankford on kick returns.

Well the Shallcross guy seems like a real piece of work, that's for sure

Yeah I don't think you can talk about the Attitude era without mentioning the sexual aspect of things led by guys like Godfather, Val Venis and to a lesser extent Goldust. That was a huge part of what made the Attitude era what it was.

Even the best coaches make mistakes. i'm not saying this particular move is necessarily a mistake but it's always fair game to question professional GMs and coaches. 8 of the teams don't win the Grey Cup every year so 8 teams with professional GMs and coaches are making more mistakes than the guys who won the Cup.

He has caught one deep ball all season, I don't think opposing DC's are all that worried about him. I'll take the heavily-involved first-down machine over the deep-threat decoy all day. And Lankford is not the best kick returner in the league... I simply can't agree with that.

Injury Report
Whatever the reason is, the production has to be better. Last 3 games he has had 2 catches for 40 yards, 0 catches, and 1 catch for 5 yards. He is being targeted... but less than 60% are resulting in catches... worst among Bomber receivers. It's been clear that Nichols and Lankford aren't quite on the same page. Whether that's on Lankford or Nichols, I can't say, but Nichols is hitting his other receivers at a 65%+ rate. Meanwhile we potentially remove a guy in Thorpe who had 5+ catches in each of his first 5 games before an off-game against Montreal. Many of which were key second down conversions and late-game drive extending plays. Dressler and Darvin Adams are both good deep threats. We don't need Lankford in the lineup with Dressler back, we need a good possession guy who can grind out YAC. Pulling out Thorpe for a guy who regularly makes only 0-2 catches per game is going to be a mistake.

**** there were a lot of good wrestlers in the attitude era. You're right. But still, as a kid in middle school, the Godfather introduced me to pimps and hoes and it was insanely popular. That's one thing that I know is true.

Bringing the Riders back to earth and their fans back to reality ...
Yes it is, and we won by a mile. I expect the same result on the scoreboard. Bombers - winners, Riders - losers. Now and forever.
