  1. Saw the news and was trading messages with them last night...... just ruined my week. Winnipeg doesn't have THAT MANY breweries that you should be seeing a "bubble burst" right now... this is really sad. It was absolutely THE place to be before a Bombers game. Onkel's on the patio at SA on a warm Manitoba summer afternoon pre-Bombers game? Just nothing finer... there are some on here who have made outrageous claims about SA and their production methods (and quality of output) but I've never had a beer there that I didn't enjoy. Paul's sometimes "crusty" exterior was a big part of the charm of the vibe as well... support your locals folks.... you don't know what you've got until it's gone.

  2. most of the shows the wife and I watch are in production or "off season" right now.... but we do watch most of the Law and Order stuff and Mark Critch (This Hour Has 22 Minutes, etc) "Son Of A Critch" is actually really well done. Enjoy that one each week, as well.

You just need to blend in carving up a twisty road with your brothers in a pack of v-twins on your way to the bar to watch the away game...

    That's a good day.

I get how you feel, because that's how I feel in a boat...... but man, I wouldn't get on a motorbike if you paid me....

I hope the show continues with the great storylines writing and acting. This and Silo are my most anticipated shows

the Bear, Shrinking, and Only Murders In The Building are the ones that are in production that I'm most excited for...... If they get around to a second season of Poker Face, you can add that to the list as well....

    Lots of duffers here.

I gave up golf about 10 years back (except for when my late father asked me to join him).

A green fee, cart, beers, lunch... It would usually be a $300 day.

Whereas for $35 of premium gas a sandwich and a few Gatorades, I could have a heckuva day on my Indian with the fellas.

it's definitely not cheap, but generally really enjoyable with the right group of people. I don't enjoy golf with randos. It's best when it's a scramble-type event.

My goal in life is to be able to Fish in the early AM, golf during the day when it's too hot for the fish and the bite dies, then fish again in the evening. One day....

I feel like those are the 5. Lewis, Roberts, Harris, Reaves as the top 4 in some order. For the 5th, I feel you can debate Hanson and James. Am likely missing somebody.

yeah I neglected James, much to my chagrin..... (I'm better than that... not by much, but by a little....) and I think you're right that the debate is between those two for the 5th spot.

Willard Reaves just trucking guys too. Forgot how good Reaves was. Weird his name rarely comes up whenever we debate best Bomber RBs of all time and it should be in the discussion every time.

Reaves comes up often enough.... likely a Top 5 guy.

    Harris

    ChuckBob

    Reaves

    Lewis

    Hanson

    Probably fair right?

Definitely a plus when you can share a passion with your partner.

I go back and forth on it, but I can't imagine being with someone who doesn't share the same passions. On the other hand, it might be nice to have something that's just yours and gets you away from them for awhile. S'posin' it depends on how much you enjoy being around your significant other...

For the past few months, I have gotten into card collecting. I started with the newest CFL upper deck series. I have pulled some really good Bomber auto cards and inserts. Probably my best one is an 8/10 Willie Jefferson High gloss CFL Greatness card. I am on the lookout for a Rasheed Bailey auto card. I just also ordered the new Upper Deck Series two NHL cards. Fingers crossed, I will get a Bedard Young Guns, lol.

my first set of cards is the 1988 O-P-C MLB set. Some really cool stuff in there. Then got into hockey cards with the same 1991 OPC NHL set that everyone on the planet has. In more recent years I have some CFL cards, but I'm more into collecting jerseys right now. I have so many different Bombers styles from over the years. Our basement is quite the shrine right now and we're always checking eBay for what's out there...

  10. Not sure it's a "hobby" (we take it a lot more seriously than that) but my wife are extremely into fishing 12 months of the year. It's painful living in Alberta at the best of times, but when you factor in our passion for fishing, it's that much worse. Last year (2022/2023) we took our ice fishing to the next level and started ice camping. It's been a lot of fun. I work too much during the winter, and the best fishing spot close to us is about 3 hours away, so we don't get out as often as we'd like, but we have a ton of fun when we do. For the summer, we DID have a little 14' Lund with a 25hp Evinrude (...lesson learned: Friends Don't Let Friends Drive E-Tec's...) but sold it when it was being too much of a hassle. We decided we're going to wait until we move back to MB (likely not too far off) before we buy our next boat... an 18' tiller with a nice big dance floor up front. There's just no sense in AB because you have to haul the damn thing for hours to get anywhere "fishable". In MB you can be on the water in minutes.... some places you can even leave the boat docked up for the summer so you can just jump in and go. That's the dream.

Anyhow, yeah.... fishing fishing fishing. Obsession.

Not sure I get the vitriol towards 3downnation and John Hodge. We all love the CFL. TSN and Sportsnet barely cover any off season news. Even in season, while broadcasting games, TSN is pretty light on content other than game summary articles. 3downnation has been around since 2015 and overall does a better job than anywhere else with CFL news. cfl.ca is good, and Ed Tait writes some really interesting content on bluebombers.com. But 3downnation is really my first stop to get any CFL content that I'm interested in - signings, draft profiles, USports stuff, CFL players in the NFL ... I like what they do. And I am in no way affiliated or compensated by the 3downnation corporation 😃

cool cool that they cover it.... now do it well.

I like the current format where the best tour teams get in regardless whether they win the province.  That was always a beef back before the change. We had 3 very good teams and only 1 got in.

this is the only correct take.
