What a joke Rider Nation has turned into.
Maybe you should rescind the invitation to your idiotic coach, as he's got far more to do with your dumpster fire of a team this year than Jeffery Orridge does. It blows my mind that you guys despise Orridge as much as you do, he's got nothing to do with why your team is such a disaster. Typical though, look for anything to cling on to the hopes that you guys aren't an absolute mess, it's just "Big Brother sticking it to us"
Newsflash - this us against the world mentality doesn't do anything but make you guys look like a bunch of clowns. If you're as important to the league as you all claim to be (disclaimer: you're not) then why would the league purposely mess with you? You can't even get your conspiracy theories right.
Thank god I've realized that the keyboard warriors who represent Saskatchewan really have nothing in common with the fans who sit in the stands, because I yet again had a wonderful gameday experience in Regina this weekend. It's only when I get on the internet that Rider fans make me want to slam my head against the nearest blunt object.

With all the whining going on at Riderfans, I felt it pertinent to dig up this thread.  Led by the lead Admin, Rider_Stronson, there have been talks  over there of conspiracies, scams, incompetence, the worst reffed game in history all against the Riders because of a ticky-tack PI call on Cox late in the game.  It's funny that the Rider fans conveniently forget that the primary reason for their sole victory this season was due to a ticky-tack call on the Ottawa defender late in the game several weeks ago PLUS a questionable non-call on the Saskatchewan defender as I described above.  See evidence of the play below...
But continue on with the never-ending conspiracies of how the league is out to get the Riders and how they never benefit from questionable calls. This train of thought is contradicted by the above video evidence.  In the end, bad or questionable calls tend to balance out over the course of a season for each team, including the Riders.

If I don't see any responses from Rider fans I will assume you will agree with me.

Even if that were it (which I don't think is fair -- both should be objective), Gary Lawless might have more Bomber info living in Winnipeg, but he has often/always been very harsh on the Blue Bombers and many of its players/coaches. Just look at old threads on this forum alone to see all the griping about his writing. So to say he's always been a huge Bomber booster isn't even close to factually correct -- and there are dozens and dozens of editorials, stories, and radio archives to prove this fact.
ALSO, his tweet re: Pedersen wasn't a shot at the Riders or pro-Bombers. It was a very funny and accurate response to what would surely be a lot of displeasure coming from Pedersen's Twitter account, based on years of history and especially plenty of evidence since the practice roster fines.

    Appeal to Authority
    argumentum ad verecundiam
(also known as: argument from authority, appeal to false authority, argument from false authority, ipse dixit, testimonials [form of])
Definition: Using an authority as evidence in your argument when the authority is not really an authority on the facts relevant to the argument.  As the audience, allowing an irrelevant authority to add credibility to the claim being made.
    https://www.logicallyfallacious.com/tools/lp/Bo/LogicalFallacies/21/Appeal-to-Authority
I would say that Scott Milanovich and other CFL coaches count as authorities on the subject of CFL quarterbacking, therefore this is not the Appeal to Authority fallacy.

If your argument is based on not understanding when an appeal to authority is a logical fallacy, you've lost. Hint. If the authority being appealed to as an actual authority on the subject, it is not a logical fallacy.
Pet peeve of mine where people think any reference to an authority is a logical fallacy.

Actually, rookies scoring 25-30 goals are not that rare - there are a few every year. From  a quick check on NHL.com stats, 2015-2016 rookies who scored 25-30 goals (or close to it)
    Artemi Panarin 30 goals
    Jack Eichel 24 goals
Connor McDavid 16 goals in 45 games (extrapolates to 29 goals in 82 games)
    Dylan Larkin 23 goals
    Sam Reinhart 23 goals
    2014-2015 rookies:
    Johnny Gaudreau 24 goals
    Mark Stone 26 goals
    Filip Forsberg 26 goals
    Mike Hoffman 27 goals
    Anders Lee 25 goals

Bit of overview, as I have spend some time over there:
At the beginning of this season.....RF was just brimming with pretty strident, snide, and real contemptuous comments about how the Bombers were trying to build the wrong way, though FA, with "declining veterans", Harris,  Smith and Dressler..... Walters was an inept GM who would have to do plenty of  "scrap heaping" to put together a losing roster, team had no depth, etc, etc..
Meanwhile Jones/Murphy and their amazing scouting staff would instantly turn the Riders into a playoff contender....and create some sort of dynasty, in the very near future.
Hasn't quite turned out that way.   Anyone with a objective eye... would realize that taking over a pretty lousy roster in Sask (end of last year), then applying a big bundle of dynamite to it....would take you right back to ground zero.  At least a 2 year job to fix this thing.  A lot of the current anger, over there... stems from the unrealistic expectations, placed on Jones, in the first place.
In addition, Jones the rookie GM has had some bumps and lumps, along the road in recruitment, trades and his own FA's.  Jones the DC, currently has the worst D in the league.  Jones the coach, has also had some in-game and roster issues.
When some of us attempted to point out the improved depth on the Bomber roster....well, there was plenty of ha ha, ho ho, in response.
The Bombers beat the Argos with 2 rookie OL, 3 rookie receivers and 4 rookie DB's.     That is called depth.  To put this into further perspective - it is Walter's 3rd year...
Meanwhile, somewhat ironically.... it has been the Riders, installing a revolving door to their clubhouse and "scrap heaping" wildly in all directions.
As far as the cheating thing.....Rider fans were completely correct in the stance that "everyone does it".   But Jones simply saw fit to take the existing rules, and in a not so subtle manner....  drive an 18 wheeler right through them, and back it up over them again.  When a nail sticks up that far above the others.....it is the one that will get hammered down.
As far as people cranking on Riders fans about this - it was in fair measure...their response to these revelations, that helped turn up the heat.   BLM was blamed,  Orrage  was blamed, the (not kidding here)...league wide envy of the Riders, was blamed, the CFL as a league, was conspiring against them.......and so on.  It was even suggested that the CFL should dare not single out the "flagship franchise" of the league.
Everybody blamed, by a lot of Rider fans - except for Chris Jones.
Good news is that the shouting has begun to die down, and folks are talking football again.
RF is a very active board with real passionate fans, who live and die, with the ole football team - I will never knock them for that.

At least Rob Vanstone is a little more balanced in his reporting than Pedersen (although I don't know what he's usually like). Says the $5000 fine was petty, but acknowledges that other teams have been fined for the same thing. About the extra players on the practice squad he says:

"Members of the local media — and this reporter, especially — should be feeling rather sheepish. We all knew that the Roughriders were working out extra players after practice. It happened in front of us every day, while we were waiting for Jones to conduct his daily scrum. One day, I even counted the number of players (at least 20) who were working out after practice. Was anything written? Was anything assigned? Were any questions asked? No. I could have written about it. I could have assigned somebody to write about it. I was a glittering 0-for-2, and guilty of an assumption that business was being conducted as per usual in the CFL."

Wonder of RiderFans will ban him for trolling because of this?

    This thread scares me.
First of all, there's no such thing as the "CFL red zone", that's just flat out wrong. Unless you want to suggest that you have it right and the league has it wrong, because for the purpose of their official statistics, they classify the red zone as the 20 yard line.
Second of all, it's really not surprising to me that a particular poster keeps preaching on and on about a Nichols vs. Willy argument that nobody is making. You can put me in the "Willy is a better QB" camp and I'm still happy that Nichols won, I thought he played great, I don't think the second half was an issue at all - it was pretty obvious they were just playing to get the game over with healthy at that point - and I'm very in favor of the decision to allow Nichols to continue starting. What I see is someone who is putting so much stock into the emotion of the decision - "Willy has scorned us and he must go!" - and thinking everyone else saying it makes sense to keep Drew is saying that because they're as emotionally invested as he is.
Keeping Drew Willy for this season is the intelligent football decision. Even if he doesn't play another snap this year. We still need a #1 and a #2 quarterback and Nichols is still a QB that has battled injuries, much like Drew Willy has, throughout his career. If Nichols gets us back into the playoff hunt and then goes down in October, do you want Dominique Davis starting meaningful football games for us? No? That's why you keep Drew Willy. And there's another very real possibility that people around here have been discounting as well - the benching of Drew Willy seems to have lit a fire under the ass of our entire roster. It's very, very possible that if Drew gets another opportunity through injury or through another QB benching that we'll learn he wasn't exempt from that. He very well could come back as a different QB - it's happened before him, it'll happen after him.

[Channelling my inner Cactus - a.k.a. getting my drink on]:

Well fans, that was quite a game we saw tonight, and the fireworks literally started before the opening kickoff, when a classic Prairie storm rolled through Investor's Group Field and delayed the start of affairs with a spectacular lightning storm and downpour the likes of which has not been seen since Noah paired up all those animals for a cruise so many years ago [writer's aside- ol' Jack never shied away from hyperbole]. But it was definitely worth the wait for the Bombers and their fans, who did some storming of their own, blasting out of the gates with a pick 6 interception 2 minutes into the game and we were on our way. And before you could blink, there was another touchdown, and another, and a fumble recovery, and a blocked punt, and when you add it all up it was 34-0 at halftime and all that was left was the salute to Milt Stegall and seeing how long his kids could stay awake throughout the second half.

Now the Happy Honker award has always been about the player or players who did that little something extra special that made a difference in the game, made it just that extra bit memorable in some way. well, we had no shortage of candidates today all all aspects of the club were on full display. We had Matt Nicholls going 17 of 19 in the first half with 2 touchdown passes as he secured his spot as the new #1 quarterback, so he deserves a small honk. We had Roberts with that interception that got the whole thing rolling for the defence, so he gets a honk from the crowd as well. We had a blocked punt but the special teams and Justin Medlock was perfect again, so they get a honk. And of course Milt Stegall will always be an honorary Happy Honker award winner, and he once again delivered on his promise that when the Bombers honour him, he guarantees and comes through with a home win every time, so a big honk to him.
But there are 3 separate things that stood out to me tonight that deserve extra mention, that rise above as it were and each deserve our accolades, although only one can truly claim the Happy Honker Award. Kevin Fogg had his second unofficial punt return for a touchdown tonight - I say unofficial because of course he got robbed of his first one by a careless penalty, so I was all set to give it to him, when once again a late penalty flag after he had already crossed the goal line denied him once again. So he will have to wait until he actually gets one that counts before I can give him the award.
And Clarence Denmark on any other night would win this hands down, coming out of a forced absence after being unceremoniously cut from Winnipeg and then Saskatchewan, sitting at home when the injury-depleted Bombers came calling, and on one a a half days practice not only suited up and didn't look out of place, but also scored a touchdown, not any touchdown but the winning points no less, in a triumphant return to River City. So special mention to him…BUT…none of those people will win the Happy Honker tonight, even if all were deserving candidates.
No, tonight was about one thing, and that was the weather. In all my years I have witnessed many things, and seen games delayed for various reasons, from fog at the Grey Cup in 1962, to torrential downpours and lightning strikes in 1984 and 1986 in Winnipeg, to franchises folding in 1987 that forced the league to re-create it's schedule, to those dreaded and horrible terrorists attacks in 2001. But I have never seen three games delayed by weather for one club at home in one season, much less in 4 games. And this one was especially unique in that it held up the start of the game over 2 and a half hours on a weeknight, and opening kickoff occurred when most people would be ready to get in their cars to head home and tune in to me on the radio to give the Happy Honker award at the game's end. But instead we had to wait, and wait we did, with Bob Irving ably stretching the pre-game show from 2 to 4 and a half hours in his usual seamless and brilliant fashion, and then staying on to field calls for an hour after the game was done.
And not only did the majority of fans who arrived before the game, whose numbers totalled over 24,000 at the start and were estimated to still be around 17,000 once kickoff actually arrived, stick around through all of that inclement weather, but many fans who actually were still at home when the game was first delayed, rather than just pack it in and call it a night with the game on TV at home, chose to drive out to the stadium at 10:00 p.m. and arrive for the modified start time, and once everyone was in the stands, they brought a noise and energy that was louder than anyone could imagine a crowd could deliver after such a long wait. And the club rewarded their patience and their passion with the most complete home game this club may have ever seen since they moved into IGF some 3 years ago. So for all of those fans who stuck around for that long delay, for all of those fans who made a point of coming out to the stadium to watch the game at 10:00 p.m. after the delay, and especially for all of those volunteers in the stadium at the vendors, in the parking lots, on the cheer squad and the ticket booths, to the bus drivers getting people home at this late, or is it early hour, this game was truly about the great support that all of you give to this club, no matter what. And you all deserve the Happy Honker Award tonight. So for everyone still at the game at 1:00 a.m. when it ended, either fan or employee, this Happy Honker goes to you. Give yourselves a honk!!!

Quite honestly, I'm so tired of this "there are bullies" nonsense that gets thrown around here. I'm not a bully. Chase isn't a bully. Atomic isn't a bully.
There is literally not a single bully on this entire forum. There are strong opinions. There are people who tend to agree with eachother. There are people who tend to disagree with eachother. If you feel like you're being bullied (aka verbally abused, insulted, beaten down) then absolutely the staff will address it. If you feel like you're being bullied because your definition of the word is "someone who disagrees with my opinion", then toughen up. This is a discussion forum, not a sounding board.
TBURGESS probably hates it, but he's always my example when someone brings up this argument. He and I probably disagree on 90% of what we discuss on this forum, but I don't think he's ever referred to me as a bully. Do you know why? Because he actually likes to discuss his opinion. I may not agree with it, but he at least doesn't get all up in arms about it. He tells me why he thinks I'm wrong, I tell him why I think he's wrong, we discuss, we pick apart then we get over it and either agree or agree to disagree and we move on.
There are always a certain group of "victims" on any forum you will ever visit who are so strongly opinionated, but can not handle being addressed in return by an opposing strong opinion. This is a discussion forum where opinions are subject to - you guessed it - discussion. If you don't like your opinion being discussed, the internet is probably not the place to share it.
