Likely an overuse injury due to returning too quickly from the ACL. Guys are pushing way too hard to come back early from a torn ACL. Not everyone is Adrian Peterson, the target for 100% return is a calendar year. Sears is about 3 months short of that right now, and has been practicing for over a month.

And it is his job to put them in a position to succeed (win). That goes for being prepared x and o wise, and mentally. He doesn't seem overly confident in his ability or his teams ability. The first thing he led with when he took over last season was "I don't know anything about offence."

No excuses now. No "protect Buck" scheming. Goltz can do it all, so we should really see some creativity out of Crowton. The zone read should work good in the run game since Goltz is actually a threat to keep it and run.

It's his team. Saying that they are mentally weak is saying as much about his skill as a coach as it does about the players.

He doesn't have to get outside the tackle before he cuts. Especially after he's run the search play off tackle almost every time we've run it. The wider he stretches the play without attacking the depth of the defence the less likely he is to gain positive yards because he is wasting all his energy running sideline to sideline while drawing every defender closing all the cutback lanes. Unless the play is misdirection or contain is broken he shouldn't be taking every search play off tackle. Simply, Simpson needs to make better reads, and honestly I think he is pressing way too hard to make big plays, and putting the offence is 2nd and very long all the time. Maybe he needs prescribed running plays.

Etienne isn't our 4th or 5th receiver, more like 2nd or 3rd, last game I think him and Denmark were targeted about the same amount.

That's not how I'm seeing it. I see us running a zone scheme where it is up to Simpson to pick a gap and make a cut to get upfield, he keeps charging off-tackle and dancing behind the line trying to win the race to the sideline. I'd like to see him make one cut and pound it up inside, much like he did for parts of last season and how Garrett did in 2011. The indecisive way he's running now it's either a home run or a 2 yard loss, and that just isn't going to cut it.

Hopefully the 2 seasons of game cheques while he was in no position to contribute to the team on gameday will help him make his decision.

Marginal player. Can't cover good enough to play SAM so he plays WIL, not really suited to that position either, he was a fit for Jones because he sends him on a blitz almost every play. We don't really blitz our LB's, so I don't see him being a good fit here. I think he got beat out by Shane Horton, who was all over the place last Friday.

I don't know about that. He seems to be pretty happy to misappropriate city funds for activities he's involved in, but other than trying to spend billions on a new subway line to his hometown, he's been cutting services and spending more. Weird how that works. Almost every ally he's had as mayor, right down to strategists, PR people etc have been alienated by Rob and Doug...and that was well before the crack allegations. Just ask Adrienne Batra, she's about as far right as it gets in Canadian politics (outside Alberta) and she almost didn't make it through the mayoral campaign as his PR director.

Well, Buck has no room for big errors if he can't find a way to be efficient. That's what it really tells us, and what's been told since 2010. The only chance this team has to win a game with the way Buck plays is if the defense is miraculous, if they are average or bad, it's a blowout.

Woodson was the backup receiver anyways. He took reps as a receiver in 12 on 12 during warmup. We weren't short, we had the same number of receivers we've dressed every game prior including Woodson. It was an odd decision given everything that had to be done to make it happen for no gain (other than a cool night for Carter). Maybe Volny is injured, because that's the only way it makes sense. We play Toronto 3 times. The likelihood of our PF-PA against them being consequential at the end of the season is miniscule, like hasn't happened in CFL history miniscule.

Sure Volny isn't a receiver, but they clearly did not have enough confidence to put Carter out there at all, and he wasn't prepared for special teams. I'd rather have an extra RB who can play special teams than someone I'm not going to put on the field at all.

Plus they are committed to it. They use run formations that let the OL fire out of their stance and give Sheets the ball with a head of steam. We run read out of shotgun and if we get stopped a couple times start heaving 40 yard bombs to no one. Big difference between BC, Calgary, Sask and everyone else. And only one of those teams has a great QB, but they all start with being able to pass and run, get the ball in the hands of the playmakers, tons of bubble screens too. Used to be a great play for us in 2011 to Denmark or Carr.

I honestly don't understand why he dressed and Volny was scratched. Easy to complain about small roster size, but we've spent too many games over the last 3 seasons dressing someone who doesn't see the field at all. At least Carter got a nice paycheque.

So Mack should have drafted Matt Norman in 2011, even though he wasn't eligible until 2012? Dunn and Norman were in different draft classes. I guess your perception really isn't reality.

Based on what? Walters is way more qualified for coaching and personnel positions in elite level football than Forde. What is on Forde's CV? Colour commentator on TSN, talking head associated with a secondary CFL draft combine. He's got several rungs he needs to climb on that ladder before he can be conceivably thought of as anything to a CFL team. Demanding a high six-figure salary and control over certain aspects of football operations guaranteed he wouldn't get a job in the CFL this past off-season, even with several teams interested.

Not good at much if he's not in space. Not worth a DI spot IMO. Really disappointed with Simpson's running too. He's dancing behind the line and trying to make every play into a 80 yard TD. It's zone run blocking, ONE CUT AND UPFIELD! Get 4-5-6 every touch and the big plays will come.

He made good decisions on when to not force that throw, when to leave the pocket, Buck has experience, Goltz has intelligence. Looks like he has the arm and he's dangerous on the move. Liked the improvising, one play in particular to Etienne was something great. Gives us way more options because of his abilities.
