Not sure what you are responding to. Talking about pulling starter to see D better, nothing about reps.

Blue Bombers -- 2025/26 Offseason -- Discussion Thread
100% disagree. It's one thing if you have someone like prime Streveler who can be really effective in giving you that kind of look that can put a D off-balance. But for the most part you're not getting that level of production from backup QB's. They have so much information and pictures available now instantly that this tropey **** about "seeing some snaps from the sideline" and putting the backup in just to provide that has no purpose. If you have a weapon like prime Streveler (he was not that guy in his return from the NFL in 24-25), yeah use him. But that's pretty rare. I don't think you'll see someone play consistently bad and not get pulled if there's a belief on the team that the next guy up would perform better overall.

If you watch Perkins in the UFL the offense is basically zone read or a fire drill every snap (there's tons of UFL stuff on YouTube, you can basically find every snap he took). I don't think he'll be able to do much from the pocket in the CFL. The ball doesn't move quick and he never sets his feet so the ball doesn't get anywhere on time or accurate. He's a fadeaway passer, lobs the ball. He is a complete run/scramble style QB. So he's not going to be able to function in an offense anything like the base offense we will be running around a guy like Collaros. But you could build something around him as a backup that relies on Zone Read, either hand it off, run it or chuck it up hope someone runs under it. The intermediate pass game will not exist for him at this level.

I think you can pretty much count on the Bombers starting 3 American OL with Elsbury being a strong contender to win the centre job too....possibly 4. They have 13 American OL signed for 2026.

Much better player than Nick Moore. Legit #2 receiver. Just not sure we have what we need for him or the offense to succeed. Like him and Wilson are potentially a bit redundant. Do we have anyone who is willing to block downfield? For run game, but also White/Wilson have a lot of utility in screen game. Demski is old as hell for pro football. Could be great, could fall off the cliff tomorrow. I hope we're still active in adding parts to the offense. Because we're lacking majorly at receiver and OL. Think we really have to be prepared to play at least 3 American OL. Wouldn't be the craziest thing to be active in the free agent market on American OL and we need another vet receiver, ideally more physical type who can go get the ball and work in scramble drill.

Really interested to see how this plays out with Collaros. Condell obviously loves him from Hamilton. Targeted White 8 times a game on average when he was calling plays there. Schoen had fewer targets in 22 and 23. Bombers really lacking vertical threat in terms of guys with some catch radius who can give a QB the chance to not have to pinpoint the ball every single time.

Honestly wouldn't rate a single Canadian OL about to hit free agency as starter quality. Woodmansey can't snap consistently enough to play centre and can't block well enough to be good at guard. He's the only one approaching being a good CFL player at this point in their careers. It's pure desperation and injuries that keep some of these guys playing. If I was running a team I'd start with the idea I probably have to play 4 American OL to have a strong offense and if you can find Canadians to take those spots it's a bonus. Way more options that don't harm your ability to win to play Canadians at receiver/RB or on D than locking in OL spots these days. I'm hopeful we're bringing up more American OL who aren't just tackles.

IMO Johnson and Mack are the top 2 and then there's quite a drop off. Arguably a huge drop off from Johnson to Mack too. Johnson is a guy just hitting his prime, legit #1 target. Most of the rest are guys who are in decline. Some guys coming off injuries who might bounce back, like Bane. Could be useful depth but basically have a better version already in Wilson. Robustelli and Nield you could probably get at a decent number. Some upside there especially with the type of offense Collaros runs. Need the big bodies that can both find the chains and win a vertical route. If we had Demski, Nield, Clercius for Canadians, plus other depth/draft pick. Wilson, Mack, Robustelli, rookies/reclamation project for Americans....I'd be good with that. Think you can build a solid offense with that. I'd be in the hunt for Johnson, Mack, Robustelli, Nield, think about Brissett if he's willing to leave the GTA (doubt it), Rambo, consider bringing back Stearns as he developed some chemistry with Collaros. Wheatfall walks. Schoen I'd keep the line open but he's not going to be able to play until the fall if that.

The bigger problem are all the guys stunting their development because they are going to 7 schools in 6 years. The CFL is always going to only be attractive to people who want to keep playing. It's not life changing money for any American player or QB. Most guys who play QB in NCAA have their families spending as much money on QB and 7 on 7 camps when they are in high school as they will make on a CFL rookie deal.

Big assumption that they haven't tried. BIG

Bell would be doing Johnston a huge favour by signing any deal before even a snap of Stewball has been played. They likely want to see what the game looks like and if it's digestible, if people care and if people still watch.

Because they have to matchup athletically with guys they have to block in pro football. If they can't get their hands on the guys they need to block, they can't really play at this level. There's a major disparity in general in this league on talent level of OL vs talent level of DL. You think too most U Sports teams or even NCAA teams have 1 or maybe 2 OL who could be pro prospects and where do the best guys usually play? Depending on scheme it's going to be tackle or guard spot. Your best athlete on OL isn't going to be at C unless you have major problems with reliability.

Honestly having Streveler here on IR and basically interning as a coach would be a pretty smart move. Kind of thing an organization with cash to leverage should be doing.

This would basically be the neg list but with a public shaming of the league added on. Brilliant marketing. So they could pull it all into one day, teams draft guys, don't want them, cut them and could they add other guys to their protected list? Would some guys have to go through a draft and others you can just sign whenever, in August or October?

An American Draft would just be another step toward bush league irrelevance for the CFL. Like a point and laugh exercise.

Blue Bombers -- 2025/26 Offseason -- Discussion Thread
Average league salary is pushing $130,000 with current cap number and the rookies still make under $90,000....significantly less for American rookies. These numbers aren't outlandish. Teams are ready to pay $250,000+ for decent Canadian OL and starters now. The "highest paid" whatever headlines today are kind of laughable considering 45% of the league are free agents. That's going to change by February.

Blue Bombers -- 2025/26 Offseason -- Discussion Thread
One of the reasons this team is declining is because they've expected leadership from someone like Jefferson. He's among the most likely to quit on plays or take stupid penalties. If that's who we're looking at to lead we're ****** from Jump Street. You can live with a guy like this who makes game changing plays out of a rotational role, when he's been impactful. But you can't expect him to be the voice and the example.

Woods is awful. Terrible is pass coverage and not a guy that makes any plays at the line either. He just played himself off the field on the worst D in the league the past three seasons. Yeah, let's sign him.

Blue Bombers -- 2025/26 Offseason -- Discussion Thread
He's just been around long enough to have had years at the top and years around the bottom. Ultimately your play caller is affecting a small chunk of your production. It's up to the talent you have and whether your OL can block anyone especially in pass pro. He'll look like a ******* genius if they have the best OL in the league. Let's hope Zach can make his pee tests this year.
