I have full faith that Walters is still going to make his move yet. Let everyone blow their wad early on shiny objects and he'll still come out a winner in the end. A bunch of under the radar signings that, when it's all said and done, look pretty damn good.
I mean you can’t really dress this up to look good, we’re getting picked pretty clean in a few areas
… if only we had some of that depth a few of us have been complaining about for years. This is exactly why the practice roster is so important and exactly why it’s so frustrating we don’t use it properly
we’ve lost a receiver, a middle linebacker (good riddance), a left guard, a safety (hopefully) and a corner and we genuinely have maybe at best, a sort of educated guess as to who will replace two of them.

Hollins or Dunbar … I mean, there are definitely worse options.
there are definitely some negatives to what is happening right now but let’s not lose sight of the positives. At least we haven’t signed Alexander yet

If changes are needed after 3 failures why are ppl throwing tantrums anytime a player that we didn’t win with the last 3 years signs elsewhere then. You can’t demand change then complain when it happens. That’s ridiculous. Nothing the team does is good enough for a few of you. That’s not on them. That’s on you for thinking they gonna listen to you.
I’m definitely not as bent out of shape as a few others are about this off-season, but “nothing the team does is good enough for a few of you” is a real false way to categorize the complaints.
Why not “nothing the team does has been good enough to win a championship the past three years” instead?

Geno Lewis to Ottawa

I forgot Hollins is out there … JBR was right, he definitely is a Wilson type. Not super high on him, but it fits the mold of what we might be looking for.

I think it’s a bit worse this year because of all the sorta un capped media money, and the bc lions still not having been punished for last year.
As always, the teams with the fewest players hold over add the most.
losing all star players and adding guys well below that tier is a bitter pill to swallow as well. Though I don’t think it’s a bad approach at all if we can get multiple pieces to fill out multiple gaps. I’ll be happy if we add a few more solid starters and depth guys at our positions of greatest need.Yeah, losing Lawler definitely hurts if that ends up being the case. That being said, we haven’t won the Grey Cup with him the last two years either so I’m willing to try something different.
it can go one of many ways, but with our front office shake up, I’m hoping maybe we can see some talent brought in for position groups we’ve struggled with for the past couple seasons (edge rusher, linebacker) … they’ve got the pedigree for it, that’s for sure

Well, explain it then instead of complaining. Tell us how the Elks can continue to sign players in free agency with a salary cap of $5.9 million? if you can explain it, then I'm all ears. Or in this case, eyes as you're posting an answer. The more Hervey spends, the more they have to subtract at some point later.
Like I said, explain it.
What is there to explain? They are adding contracts they can afford to add.

So is Ed Hervey shooting for another rule invoked because of him? Guy is spending like a drunken sailor.
I mean, it makes sense … who was making money on that team before? Korte and Geno Lewis?
they have a ton of mid pay level guys they’re moving on from … Steward, Oakman, Mayala, Kyran, Leonard, Purifoy, Moncrief, Foucault … it’s no wonder they are spending money, they had a ton of space

Breaking News: The CFL has allotted a special "**** You" salary cap exemption to the new Edmonton Elks owner Larry Thompson of 15.5 million thereby thanking him for his taking over the disastrous franchise when nobody would. "We're just getting started. I might even buy a few star players under contract with other teams now. No one can stop me!!!" Said Ed Hervey excitedly as he grabbed a helmet & flung it through his office wall.
see what I mean

Hatcher back to BC
Feels like we’re going to be the odd man out in the receiver bidding, Geno will go to Calgary after they lose out on Lawler and we’ll end up with Rhymes or Acklin

I read on X today that the Ti Cats are pursuing Lawler "hard". Most of the best players are gone now to the Elks ( of course we won't ask how they can afford it with the salary cap). Will we lose him now?
so tired of people complaining about the salary cap when they have no idea how it works
we play this game literally every year “omg how can these 5? 6? teams do this does the salary cap not exist?” and then maybe 1 at most is over at the end of the season

Hatcher is an interesting case, all the talent in the world, just has the Achilles injury now kind of looming. He’d be a great signing imo.
Recovered fine last year, I thought

I’m not sure how many of you remember last year, but the same source who told me Schoen was staying in Winnipeg just told me Lawler is going to Hamilton.
Yeah, I heard the same thing earlier today. Not surprising, but it hurts a bit. I do hope we pivot to Hatcher or Geno.

I'm not sure that Cobb moves the needle at all, he's at best a back up punt returner, as a receiver he's not the type of receiver that Zac likes to throw to.
I know Walters said we would be more active in free agency, but Id hoped it was for some impact players
I’m not sure why people are even remotely worried about our work in free agency … Dillon Mitchell and Jonathan Jones are both real big pieces in my eyes, Schoen brought back is a huge win, almost every valuable OL is still out there for now and we’re doing a decent job of picking up some depth where we need it. -
Man, Booch … I gotta say lol you’ve lost me so far this off-season
You’re literally letting JT and Kyrie dictate your mood on every move we make and it’s showing BIG TIME
”for such a preferred destination we sure are missing on guys” lol you know we can’t sign everyone right? and not every signing is an “at all costs” signing … who’s to say there hasn’t been interest in some guys and then our FO says “oh, at that price? No thanks”
just relax sheesh

I couldn’t have less interest in Diontae Spencer, that would have about as much impact as the Tevaughn Campbell signing in Sask just now

sure like to know what Walters plan is....
This feels like something you of all people are literally not allowed to be upset about
You (just like me) have been shouting that we need to make room for some younger guys to have opportunities to become impact players and you’ve been talking up one in particular for quite some time
This is a move to replace a fairly average player and your guy you’ve been talking up will potentially have a fair shot to fill that spot
I’m not mad at all, Garbutt wasn’t anywhere near what we thought he would be

Wrong side of 30 plus came back from a torn Achilles and wasn’t 100%.
If we lose lawler, he’d still need to be on a team friendly deal imo. He’s literally the youngest of the three between Lawler, him and Geno
