  1. I'm beginning to think I may not want him here. He may be a skilled and talented receiver but he may also be a loser. No desire to join a reigning, defending championship team that wants you and is willing to pay fair market value? Holding out for the highest bidder of a few shekels regardless of how crappy that team may be?

Yeah, go sign somewhere else and watch us beat the crap out of your team and humiliate you in the process. Good move, genius.

Walters likes to sign character guys that know how to win. Let's not make an exception now.

Premature Power Rankings are here: https://www.cfl.ca/2020/02/27/way-early-power-rankings/

    1. HAM
    2. WPG
    3. SSK
    4. CGY
    5. EDM
    6. MTL
    7. BC
    8. TOR
    9. OTT

These do seem to check out, even if only on paper. There could be some variability from 3 through 6, IMO.

Being defending champs and having thoroughly manhandled the Cats in the Grey Cup I'd have us at #1 and SSK at #6 or #7 behind CGY, EDM and MTL. I seriously doubt SSK will be able to reproduce their smoke and mirrors show from last year and they are definitely a worse team this year with all the departures. The longer it drifts from the Chris Jones era the lower they will sink.

Just absolutely horrific what has happened to Hefney. What kind of person gives him a sentence like that after considering the circumstances that lead up to it. Ridiculous and disgraceful.

    Their playmakers were totally intimidated.

Our D last season was the embodiment of exactly what I had hoped for in an O'Shea/Hall defense. Quick, strong, intimidating,  with a hell-bent-for-leather attitude and you know what? It's going to be even better this year! Teams didn't want to play us last year because of our defense and this year will be no different.

Add to that an offense with a Buck Pierce-sized set of gonads and it's going to be a very good year. I can't friggin' wait.

Loss of Strev..Nichols and the 2 DB's aside I actually think we are gonna be a stronger team to be honest

And the fact that we can basically start the season intact and not having to incorporate new coaching staff and starters gives us a nice edge.

Johnson at halfback being a very good vet will make us not skip a there as well with incorporating either a new guy in..or one with slightly less experience..from all accounts he is very knowledgeable and a great communicator on the field...boundary corner I'm not even concerned with..eAsiest spot on the defence to groom a newbie..

I assume you're referring to Pierce taking over for Lapo. Likely a HUGE upgrade. I can't wait to see what he has cooked up for us on offense.

None of Lapo's guys followed him. Besides flanders which doesn't count

I honestly think that says something about players faith in him.

I stand by my prediction that Ottawa continues to be a dumpster fire under Lapo. X's and O's are great but it means nothing since he doesn't have a set of testicles.

    Tina took them.

Got to meet and talk with Patrick Neufeld and Stanley Bryant at the Wheat Kings game here in Brandon last night.  What a couple of cool dudes and great ambassadors for the Bombers!   You know that they're big guys, but until you stand right beside them, you don't get a full appreciation of how huge they actually are.

Absolutely. At 260 myself I'm not small but I've shook hands with some of these guys and it's embarrassing when your hand literally disappears inside of theirs. These are BIG MEN!

I love your comment about them being "cool dudes and great ambassadors for the Bombers!" They're big men and even better human beings. There is something about sports and camaraderie that develops great people.

  8. The Riders released Thigpen this year. There was a comment made on RF that they released him because of his PED use and that we should do the same with Andrew Harris for the same reason. Are we comparing apples to oranges here?

Thigpen said he was out of football before signing with the Riders (2 years) and was using because he was "physique modeling". When he tested positive he had just come back to football and it hadn't cleared his system yet. In Andrew's case, he blamed a contaminated supplement was responsible for his positive test.

Harris tested positive for Metandienone, a PED that has fallen out of favour due to it's ineffective results. Thigpen for dehydrochloromethyltestosterone, a powerful anabolic steroid.

The Bombers have in Harris a player that is better, younger (32), is not injury prone, Canadian, a home town boy, and adamantly insists he never knowingly took any PEDs.

I don't think the Riders released Thigpen because of his positive test. I think they released him because he was a 33 year old American with a history of injuries.

    Apples to oranges.

Do you even know what a Grey Champion is? You've had just 4 in 109 years. Which means if you keep it up the Riders will reach 11 in the middle of the 24th  century.

... Nolby is a Bomber fan and you must be drunk if you think his comment was a jab at the Bombers.

Old people sure do struggle with the internet.

He probably confused Nolby with someone else but you have to admit, it was a pretty good dig at the Riders. 🙂

Actually, there have been several cases in the US where it was proven in court that the dog handler had trained the dog to respond to a covert signal from the handler and react as if the dog had actually detected drugs. With that amount of ganja, it wouldn't take much for even a comatose dog to detect it.

My buddy's dog ate a large quantity of his black hash once. Talk about a comatose dog.

So the border agent whose dog alerted him OUTSIDE of the checkpoint might not actually have the right to tell the checkpoint to do a further search because his dog alerting outside of the checkpoint is actually an illegal search by the dog.

That's the sort of technicality a good lawyer is going to exploit in favour of his client and I'm sure Mr. Robinson will be able to afford a good lawyer.

If Walker signs in BC, do we go with what we have, or do we go after Rhymes?

I'm okay with all three scenarios but my preference is to sign Walker. With our O-line, a QB like Collaros, a back like Harris, and receivers like Adams and Walker, I believe we'd have, by far, the best offense in the CFL to go along with the best defense and what Winnipeg football fan wouldn't want that?

Again, the dog whose sole job is to identify the presence of drugs doing alerting an agent seems like more than enough probable cause to search the vehicle without consent.

I don't get the procedural error. Why have the dog at all?

The dog did his job correctly. The question is, did the agents? All it takes is a technicality.

  14. 3 minutes ago, Geebrr said:

    I don't follow that logic

    4th Amendment, I believe.

"The Fourth Amendment's protection against unlawful search and seizure generally prohibits arbitrary vehicle searches by police. If the police search your car without a warrant, your permission, or a valid reason, they are violating your constitutional rights."

Therefore, at least one of the following would have to be true ...

    1. You have given the officer consent;
    2. The officer has probable cause to believe there is evidence of a crime in your vehicle;
    3. The officer reasonably believes a search is necessary for their own protection (a hidden weapon, for example); and
    4. You have been arrested and the search is related to that arrest (such as a search for illegal drugs).

The "probable cause" might be the one that sinks them.
